It's Sakurai (The Content King). I'm sure they actually cut it down to 45 min.I am not sure what is the most insane thing
- Kirby Air Riders is almost done
- Kirby Air Riders can fill a 45min Direct
- That logo

So confused by this game. We have a new add on for Kirby coming next weekish and just had Mario Kart. Why is this game even a thing and why is it releasing soon? Also, a game specific direct implies that it may be coming out sooner than anticipated, they usually only do these about a month before release
its Sakurai he likes to talk and i say let him.45 minutes is way too long for one game. Especially a game where you play as Kirby flying a vehicle. No other Nintendo game has ever gotten a title Direct of this length. Nintendo spent less time on Smash Ultimate at e3 2018. Craziness.
Even a Kirby Direct shouldn't be this long, with multiple games announced/ shown.
Very curious as to the justification for the length. There must be a lot of drawn out explaining and showing.
For context, the Mario 35th Direct was only 15 minutes long, and featured 4-5 new game announcements.
this was 48 minutes with one character and some mii fighters
Kind of funny final line in that presentation given the lenght of this one:this was 48 minutes with one character and some mii fighters
"We crammed in a little too much content this time. Hopefully I'll be able to make future showcases a little shorter."
Well, there's not that much time left for marketing cycle + release if they want to put it out this year (like they've said). Especially if they also want to release Metroid Prime 4 this year as well.![]()

This must be releasing super soon.
Current Nintendo games look the way they do because that's the way they want them to look because of software budgets. It's nothing to do with hardware. The only two Switch 2 games that will look way better than original Switch games will be 3D Mario and 3D Zelda simply because those are the two games they usually push the budget out for. It's extremely important, and COVID has nothing to do with it. It's related to the hardware, and how every exclusive so far have been glorified Switch 1 games so far. This one will break the pattern, or so it should.
How the fuck someone can call the game like DK Bananza and say "glorified Switch 1 game"? You say this because it was originally being developed for original Switch? So based on that logic is The Last Guardian just "glorified PS3 game"? Is original InFAMOUS just "glorified PS2 game"?how every exclusive so far have been glorified Switch 1 games so far.
I wish they'd glorify WipeOut or Motorstorm...How the fuck someone can call the game like DK Bananza I say "glorified Switch 1 game"? You say this because it was originally being developed for original Switch? So based on that logic is The Last Guard just "glorified PS3 game"? Is original InFAMOUS just "glorified PS2 game"?
Well yes of course. How the fuck someone can call the game like DK Bananza I say "glorified Switch 1 game"? You say this because it was originally being developed for original Switch? So based on that logic is The Last Guard just "glorified PS3 game"? Is original InFAMOUS just "glorified PS2 game"?
Funny enough last time we had the same situation was for Smash Ultimate, also by SakuraiIt's fun because I don't think we've ever had a game-focused direct for something that's basically a complete unknown.
To be fair, they did this because they couldn't get it to run on S1 with what they wanted to do (they've said so in the "Ask the developer" interview series). So it's not really a S1 game...Made Donkey Kong first as a S1 game and moved it to S2
I hope he does, watching Sakurai talk about game design in his series of videos was like watching a Michelin chef talk about his cuisine. This will be Sakurai using 45m to OCD over the most irrelevant detsils.
And yet somehow it's running in co-op mode on a S1 so technically everything the S2 player is doing...is being performed on an S1. I'd rather pose the question have you guys developed a game specifically for S2 that did not start development on the S1.To be fair, they did this because they couldn't get it to run on S1 with what they wanted to do (they've said so in the "Ask the developer" interview series). So it's not really a S1 game...
There is lot of game s does this, for example The Last Guardian was originally was being made for PS3 before moved the project for PS4….original InFAMOU is using modified Sly Cooper engine from PS2.Well yes of course.
Thus far every big S2 game is a glorified S1 game.
Made Mario Kart for S1 but moved it late to S2. Made Donkey Kong first as a S1 game and moved it to S2. S1 players can even play game by linking up with an S2 player. Enhanced versions of BotW/TotK are glorified S1 games. Metroid Prime 4 is getting S1 and S2 versions so glorified S1 game.
Guess what Pokemon ZA also glorified S1 game since it coming to both consoles.
Like damn so far I haven't seen a single S2 game developed specifically for S2 since it's creation.
Afaik it is working similar to how the Wii U Gamepad works, it gets most of the data streamed from the Switch 2 unit. And yet somehow it's running in co-op mode on a S1 so technically everything the S2 player is doing...is being performed on an S1. I'd rather pose the question have you guys developed a game specifically for S2 that did not start development on the S1.
It would be much more interesting to know the answer to that.
Which is amazing. Makes you wonder how many games they will implement to actually use that feature if games have a co-op or multiplayer function and they only need one person to own the game. Or if it's a one and done.Afaik it is working similar to how the Wii U Gamepad works, it gets most of the data streamed from the Switch 2 unit.

You didn't hold this same standard when downplaying crossgen/not so ambitious PS5 games that obviously started on PS4, why hold it here as well? Any game started without next gen considerations for the start in mind is not next gen, and The Last Guardian is the perfect example of that, funnily enough. How the fuck someone can call the game like DK Bananza and say "glorified Switch 1 game"? You say this because it was originally being developed for original Switch? So based on that logic is The Last Guardian just "glorified PS3 game"? Is original InFAMOUS just "glorified PS2 game"?
It's not, the switch 2 is rendering everything then streaming it to a switch 1, like a wii u gamepad. And yet somehow it's running in co-op mode on a S1 so technically everything the S2 player is doing...is being performed on an S1.
Interesting so the only interaction is the S1 sending certain commands or inputs to the S2. Clever trick. It's not, the switch 2 is rendering everything then streaming it to a switch 1, like a wii u gamepad.
this is super common. Like I immediately thought of Shenmue being made for the Saturn. There is lot of game s does this, for example The Last Guardian was originally was being made for PS3 before moved the project for PS4….original InFAMOU is using modified Sly Cooper engine from PS2.
That doesn't mean DK Bananza could work on original Switch, in fact they moved it to Switch 2 exactly because they couldn't made it work for Switch 1.
Disappointing to still see dogshit-standard ground textures on a Switch 2 game
Hard disagree, I could believe it's a Switch game.Well, this does look like a proper Switch 2 game for the most part. Mostly what I expected, finally round geometry in a Nintendo game.
He is awesome but why is he wasted on a game like this instead of say, a full-on Kid Icarus game?"It's basically Mario Kart. I even mentioned this when I recived the request to make the game. I asked them if they still wanted to do it."
I love Sakurai, I could watch this guy present anything.
Nah, World isn't even close. Just the lightning model here is ages better, and you can tell the DLSS usage from a mile also, unlike the crisp native 1440p of World. Suggesting legit hardware utilization.Hard disagree, I could believe it's a Switch game.
Visuals are really disappointing, not even anywhere near Mario Kart World standard.
If this is what he wants to make I have full confidence it'll turn out great. I doubt anyone forced him.He is awesome but why is he wasted on a game like this instead of say, a full-on Kid Icarus game?
Wrong. BotW is technically a glorified Wii U game.Well yes of course.

Is Nintendo really going to force Switch 2 owners play this by creating artificial scarcity of games (3rd party) ?
