Nintendo Direct Today - 31st July 2025 (6am PT // 9am ET // 2pm UK)

This partner showcase is necessary… To shut up some folks.

I remember this thread. Talk about being delusional. Complaining about a lack of third party support before the console is even released. Now that I look back at it, it's definitely troll bait.

god is real GIF

Prime 2 & 3HD, Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD is all I want. Please for the love of christ.
Why stop there? I want these ones also!

LZelda ALBW
LZelda OOT
LZelda MM
Metroid 2SR
SMario 3DL
SMario G2
Splatoon 1
LMansion 1
PunchOut!
DKJB

Put all the great remaining games of 3DS, Wii, and GC on Switch in HD.

Although Partner Direct is disappointing, this could also mean more info on FF Tactics Ivalice Chronicles or that rumored FF9 "Remake" announcement.

Get me some GTA V and RDR 2 plz!

R* deliberately broke GTA Online on Steam Deck since September of 2024 and yet to resolve the issue. My guess is this was to sell GTA V on the Switch 2 to capture the handheld market.

I think it's safe to assume that's what this direct is mostly going to be. Which I think is a good thing, as the previous Switch didn't see too many third party ports.

Look at WWE2k25 for example on the Switch 2. The series is finally feature and graphically comparable on the Switch 2 and the PS5, with the Switch 2 version even loading faster.

Disappointed Kevin Sorbo GIF

well....won't get my hopes up anyway

Another miss do u really buy a switch to play third party games that look 100x better on a ps5 or pc

But 3rd party games won't look anywhere near 100x on PS or PC
I watched a video review of the new WWE game and it's quite impressive how close it gets.

Partner direct rip

A Partner direct is significantly more interesting than the alternative at this point. Nintendo's teams have delivered their major load for the launch, and there's no major benefit in revisiting Metroid Prime 4 again

My wish list is confirmation of more games that badly need Switch 2 versions or patches, to see some kind of distinct third party efforts like FromSoft, and at least one big N game announcement, something like Mario or Zelda.

I think they might be trying to bring Nintendo hype while creating space for third party sales, which is a careful balance. In that regard, coming out with Kart and a very strong platform game that is not Mario, followed by monthly releases like Kirby, might be the right move, only to open the floodgates come Christmas. Of course, if Nintendo's actual goal was to make space for third party, and they aren't selling that much whether due to key cards or any other reason, it reveals some problems they should be thinking about.

They just released 2 in the space of six weeks. Metroid before the end of the year.

Some people are never happy.
This will literally be a dump of all games that you can already play on other platforms. I didnt buy S2 for that. I bought it for new first party games you cant play anywhere else

One bigger first party-ish game that we'll almost certainly get a release date for is the new Hyrule Warriors, though. It's debut trailer was included in the 'Partners' section of the April direct, so they consider it a Koei Tecmo partner game moreso than an internal one.

Like I said they just released 2 AAA games and have more in the post for this year. What other company has done that in the first 6 months of a launch?

You'll be able to play Drag n Drive soon don't forget.

Dude thats pretty offensive to assume that i would play this crap. I am talking about promising games.

Madden, NBA 2k, and EA FC seem likely, imo.
MK trilogy seems likely too.

What will MS and Sony show? Horizon? Halo? COD? Avowed? Indiana Jones?

Finally, will Ubisoft show it… I am thinking "yes"

Heavy on the PS4 / Xbox One remasters I'll bet. I'm not even mad. That's a good thing.

Good chance for some 60fps / DLSS upscaled versions of some real bangers.

expecting:

Elden ring
Monster hunter Wilds
Resident evil 2/3/4
Devil may cry series (5)
Death stranding
FF XVI
Kingdom hearts collection (including 3)

Forza horizon 5
Call of duty
Rare replay (also for Ps, i would be so happy to get the banjo games on ps5)

high fi rush switch 2
and basically most of the already released Microsoft games maybe even gears of war reloaded.... those games have xbox one/s versions that would run well on the new nintendo hardware.

announcements for switch 2, especially the capcom stuff with MH wilds doing lack luster after its initial release.

Partner directs have never been good in the past. I don't have a lot of hopes for this one. Most of it will be old games getting ported.

my predictions:

Apex Legends (new season is coming, good timing),
EA Sports games (gameplay shown),
Assassin's Creed Shadows,
Sea of Thieves,
Forza Horizon 5,
Blades of Fire (maybe amongst Nintendo fans advertising it as "made by the creators of Metroid Dread" helps),
Resident Evil 9... maybe ports of 7, 8 and the remakes as well,

and we'll see some of the already announced stuff getting mentioned again, now with release dates, like Elden Ring etc.

A Nintendo partners direct doesn't means that Nintendo is not going to announce anything related to first party games… 👀. Is this your first Nintendo Partners direct?
Some people acting like being a partner showcase is a bad thing or something is funny. Remember that Nintendo makes new first party announcements in partners showcase too.
Is going to happen…

Really?
We are going to see a new trailer and release date announcement for first party titles and probably a teaser.
It's most definitely not nearly as common as you make it out to be. The only times it happened were on October 2020 (Buddy Mission Bond, Part Time UFO) and February 2024 (Endless Ocean Luminous), most of the partner directs never have any first-party announcements.
It's reasonable to expect Hyrule Warriors: Imprisonment as that's more of a third-party licensed game than an actual first-party game, but that's about it. Anything else is just a surprise.
Yeah, most recently exciting stuff like Endless Ocean and Another Code Remastered iirc..

>90% will be 3rd party stuff. Might as well just watch the trailer for the first party thing, if there even is one, afterwards.
Another Code: Recollection was revealed on a general direct on September 2023.
One bigger first party-ish game that we'll almost certainly get a release date for is the new Hyrule Warriors, though. It's debut trailer was included in the 'Partners' section of the April direct, so they consider it a Koei Tecmo partner game moreso than an internal one.
It doesn't have anything to do with it being developed internally or externally, as both Kirby and Pokémon were included in the 'first-party' section on the oficial PR. Hyrule Warriors is just not first-party.
