Nintendo Downloads - February 2015

Stupid question: Am I able to get rid of the blue dot on my Animal Crossing icon without booting the game up?

Opening the software without actually booting the game should be enough to get rid of the dot. Just hit the home button as soon as you see the title screen and don't go any further.

Haha I have this too, can't boot up as I've finally stopped playing and have my villagers frozen but this blue dot is driving me crazy!
Snap.

Just tried. I even risked turning off Spotpass from the title screen. Didn't work. Hi BPB!

half-assed? was it worse than the original game?

I haven't played the original but my understanding is that in terms of content, this is essentially the same game except for Mii support instead of avatars. Mind you, you can't pick which Mii to use.

The game also locks up quite a bit, characters disappear during cutscenes and you can only post screenshots on Miiverse half the time, the rest of the time the game just refuses. You also can only use a pro controller for two-player mode. If you're single player, you have to use the GamePad -- except on the main menu, where you can use the pro controller. It also uses the default boot-up music which is a real indicator of lazy work.

Just a lazy, janky port, and did I mention it was delayed about 18 months?

Right, forgot BoF was happening. It'll be nice to play a 16-bit Breath of Fire whose localization didn't include a three drink minimum.

Oh hey, Adventure Bar Story confirmed for Feb 19th in America.

Seems pretty cute.
Looks like my type of game, girls and food.

Capcom is really doing good things on Virtual Console.

Just 3D Fantasy Zone for me. A shame you can't get the MM3D themes if you buy a physical copy of the game. Or heck, included codes with the LE to go with the statue.

Any impressions?

Well as far as I remember, you have very basic missions to find ingredients, to prepare dishes to serve in your restaurant. You have different zones where you collect ingredients on the floor, with random battles (Classical RPG combat system).

It was nice for a while, but I didn't bother going very far. Really basic graphics, abysmals controls due to touchscreen, and really grindy mechanics.

Depends on the price tag !

Looks like a typo to me. Should actually be February 13, tomorrow.

Fantasy Zone is the standard £4.49 instead of the advertised £3.49.
This weeks EU PR was really screwy.
I'll buy it anyway but I'm just hoping the store doesn't correct it and the PR was right...

Curve Digital is bringing over The Swindle on Wii U later this year. ( and everything else that's not the 3DS) It's an action stealth game in which you conduct heists and must escape. This must be the other title they were hinting about , it looks pretty fun. I'll just leave video and more details below.

I guess they've already filled their Wii game quota for the next three months.
It's sad really.

I am sure we will see something by the end of the month. They do have a small backlog on VC games and honestly it was smart not trying to put NES/SNES games against the Wii titles. They need to get away from this weekly release crap though. We know games can come out on the eshop on any day.

The whole weekly PR and release is archaic. Games should be loaded to go live once they pass lot check. Then have them unlocked for purchase whenever the developer/publisher wants. That way we can get new games everyday if possible, and it allows exposure for games that normally wouldn't get it.

They can still do their weekly or highlighting the weeks releases, but if games show up over the course of the week people may be more willing to try something new versus when they are all released on the same day.

You can release games any day of week. Same with sales...

Weekly PR builds hype and info. Its suicide to release your game on any other day, more so if your game doesn't fit a lot of hype.

Most sales come from Thursday - Sunday. With Thursday being the biggest. So devs want to release on Thursday.

Plus anyways, announcing a future date helps gives you time to hype your game, get info out there. You may know of Shovel Knight months in advance. But did you know much about PING 1.5+ ?

Just saying.. :)

Is that it? Just Breath of Fire for the VC this week? Sigh.

Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 are out this week, so I'm not surprised. Nintendo likes to treat every VC release like a big event, even if the game is terrible. We probably won't get anything worthwhile next week since Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is coming soon.

So according to Nintendo.com, a DSiWare game came out today.
http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/WsyUAky7czhOrQ2FEq3X14yTTB7NoIi4
It's called 4 Elements and apparently there's a 3DS version of it that is two years earlier than this on the eShop. The best part is that the 3DS version is currently on sale and is actually cheaper than the DSiWare version. No idea why they would make a DSiWare game in 2015 especially one that is already on the 3DS

The only thing I can imagine, is that the DSiWare game was already done for a while/easy to port and so they were like "why not". If game is already done, wouldn't cost them anything to release it. Though very very odd.
