"Boasting vastly improved graphics and sounds over the NES original, plus never-before-seen special features, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 will give everyone a chance to relive – or experience anew – a true Miyamoto masterpiece."

Could definitely be talking about the extra levels, there.

But whose fault is this? :)

Not theirs because you didn't have to buy your games again on Wii U after Wii, just upgrade which was a reasonable approach for what you got.

The levels are in the EU ROM anyway.
Unless the EU version is different than other regions, the e-Reader levels were not in the cart, they were encoded on the e-Reader cards and then saved to the game when scanned in.

Still, I see no reason why they'd leave them out for EU after including them in NA and Japan.

Nice deal I would buy if I didn't know nintendo would have me buy them again on NX.

Difference between know and suspect :p

Ehhh this whole 'Nintendo keeps making me buy the same games' is so overblown.
The Wii was the first console with VC. It's successor allowed you to transfer them across.
The 3DS is the first handheld with VC, it has no successor yet but it's predecessor had DSiWare which, again, you could transfer over to the DSi's successor.
So every digital title you've been able to purchase from Nintendo since 2008 is fully transferable to today's hardware.
They have never not allowed you to do this... and yet people are so convinced their games won't transfer to the NX.
There's no precedent for this whatsoever and in-fact all evidence points to the contrary.
I'm very confident that you WILL be able to transfer all VC purchases to NX, especially as both Wii U and 3DS use NNID which has now become a facet of the NX's Nintendo Account.

As for the thorny issue of cross-buy... well consoles and handhelds are separate entity's with separate digital libraries, pricing schemes and, previously, account systems.
We've never had cross-buy since the Wii U launched, they were never going to suddenly reverse this now... unfortunately.

Rune Factory 4 (XSEED Games) - €19.99/£17.49 (Ends March 17, normally €29.99/£24.99) OMG ITSHAPPENING.GIF

For real, the only reason I was looking forward to eshop news every monday was seeing this at some point. Fucking finally.

I just came back from buying a 25€ eshop card, should have gotten 50€ D:

I guess I'm finally updating my 3DS. Is it okay to just jump into this one without playing the others?

Also NISA please put your EU 3DS games on sale.

Super Metroid on 3DS is kinda big since it never got a GBA port unlike most of the other important 1st party SNES games except Mario Kart and F-Zero.

So if the EU discount for the first batch only ends on th 10th at midnight, would it technically be possible to buy Metroid and get Earthbound half-off from that?

You're free to try but the deal comes in specific pairs.

Game ID 12345 discount is tagged to game ID 67890.

Both for 12€ too... Hard to say no.

Right, this week actually has the best deal out of all of them for Europeans. Two SNES games for 12€ and both in 60Hz which you couldn't get before on PAL VC and portable. DKC2 week comes close. Everything else we already got in a way.

I played the Hyrule Warriors demo on the 3DS which I was surprised by how much I enjoyed. I won't be getting the 3DS version but I'm curious about the Wii U version now. I really never liked those Warriors games so I don't know whether I'll get much mileage out of it though. Anyone here really like Hyrule Warriors while disliking other games in the series? It's a shame it's hard to find Wii U games cheaper because I would be less cautious otherwise.

I was also just checking out Rune Factory 4 last night. Maybe it's time to jump on it even though I know jack shit about it :p

hyrule warriors is the first musou i got into, spent well over 100h on it and still got wayyys to go in terms of doing everything. really fun game

the 3ds version seems utterly superfluous to me

I didn't follow the SNES VC so far so from the already released games I need on 3DS asap

Kirby Super Star
Secret of Mana

The holy grail for me would be Lufia II or Terranigma

I can't believe they put up the GBC Lufia but not the SNES ones

The only one you'll get is Kirby Super Star, sadly.

Secret of Mana has a mild chance since that came out on Wii VC and Square has shown a sign of life with FF Tactics Advance recently.

Lufia is weird maybe because Natsume only ever published the GBC game and Lufia II's US version while they never touched any of the other games or territories (Lufia 2 was a NOE job and Lufia GBA was Atlus) so maybe there's some legal nonsense going on with those.

Apparently it is. It's so ugly though.
How is the 3D? Does it improve the game's appearance and readability?

Also:

Can someone here tell me how the European version Aban Hawkins & the 1001 SPIKES runs on 3DS? I heard so much horror stories between bugs and lousy "patches" about this game that I lost track if this version runs as it should or not? I already have it on Steam, but I'd like it on portable.

I don't like your depressingly realistic outlook :p But that's why I said holy grail.

I've spent enough after the wave of launch games anyway, I'll take what I can get and continue to hope for the best. Since Lufia was Nintendo I thought the chances wouldn't be terrible, I hope the license isn't in limbo somewhere.

I would assume all those NOE-localizations reverted back to their original IP owners after a while (like Square putting out Secret of Mana and Mystic Quest Legend on Wii VC). So whoever has the Lufia 2 keys now has the power. You'd think Natsume would be it. But seeing how they tried to sell that "Ninty is done with SNES games" stuff, I have no faith anything's gonna move there.

Clearly the game you're gonna pick from their line-up would be Lufia 2 but here we are. :(

I don't know if the EU version is any different from the NA version, but the game runs fine for me. It can be a little shimmery when it scrolls and the 3D effect can give away some trap locations, but I think they fixed the one crash that it used to have and I've had a blast with the game.

I hope it's true! Releasing Dragon Quest 1+2 and 3 in the run-up to us finally getting 7 and 8 would be amazing!

I never really delved too deeply into the Wii's VC so I'll potentially be buying a lot of these 3DS SNES releases.

Well, 1-3 wouldn't leave Japan, obviously. (a shame, S-E never bothered to put out the GB versions on VC that did get a localization ...)

Considering I've actually been trying to buy the GBC copies for a little while I realllllllyyyy should've known that!
I'm tired and easily prone to excitement, ignore me :)

Just played the Yokai Watch demo. What a pleasant surprise! I really knew nothing about this game, but it is now officially on my radar. The battle system is very odd, but alot of fun. I can see myself spending alot of time seeking out those little Yokai in the future. Game's gorgeous too.

It's Level-5, expect nothing less.
I really liked the demo too, pre-ordered the game after finishing it actually. Really looking forward to it.
I need to pick up Little Battlers Experience at some point too.

Has S-E put out any Enix games on VC other than Actraiser? I'm still waiting for E.V.O. or any DQ games at all.
