SONY delivered an E3 conference full of big announcements, unfortunately some of those games are like 2 (3?) years away.
The fact that Tropical Freeze sold terribly is what should push them away from making another.
If there is no Metroid at this E3? Yeah! It will backfire in a big way. It will hurt the games too, like it hurt DKC:TF.
4 hours to go, correct?
Yeah, lets use some devs for something people dont clearly want anymore. That sure is smart!
Maybe close retro or start firing people there after it because DCK3R sells even worse than tropical freeze.
What a master plan that is!
Thats what I want, because I want retro to not fall apart after a disastrous election of IP like DK could be again. Im praying for nintendo to be a little smarter this time.
BTW I would love a new IP or really old ip revival into something amazing that surprises me, not even metroid prime. And Im sure the majority of people would be happy with an AAA work from a a game that is not another freaking platfomer, and much less another DK, even if its not metroid prime 4.
Exactly. Nintendo are unlikely to even show what they have in the pipeline for late 2016, let alone after that. Couple that with the lack of 3rd party support and I predict a fairly lean event with maybe 1 or 2 nice surprises, possibly a big reveal for Retro studios, and a lot of Amiibo talk/Indie content/virtual console stuff. Plus at least 40% focused on 3DS.
This would be such a train wreck. I imagine Miyamoto's disgusted face when trying to play W101. It's just so far removed from his gaming ethosMost are going to be disappointed, regardless of what happens. Just give me my Miyamoto directed, PlatinumGames developed, StarFox please.
What mythWhen will this myth die? Also, they started working on their next game before Tropical Freeze was released, so no more of this crap please.

Laughable. Three Metroid games in a row is perfectly okay, but two DK games is a crime against humanity. Tropical Freeze was hurt by people like you judging the game based on what it wasn't, rather than on its own merits.
I agree, their best showings aren't coming anytimes soon.
Shenmue: they say Dec 2017, but don't be surprised if that one gets delayed since work hasn't even started
FF VII: Same, they take 1.5 - 2 years to HD'ify FF X, FF VII is a game that needs to be redone from scratch.
TLG: Q4 2016?
Horizon: Q4 2016? Seem to be a candidate for their big holiday title in '16
So while i agree these games are (potentially) great, and I look forward to some of them, we shouldn't expect to see them soon. We will be playing on the NX before some of these will get released.
Project H.A.M.M.E.R kickstarter.

Three Metroid games on systems void of similar experiences. Just like WiiU. Another DK game would be madness, considering the amount of platformers and cutesy games already on the WiiU. It is a platform severely lacking an exclusive game in the same vein as Metroid Prime, Half-Life, Deus Ex, and other games like it. Third parties aren't going to be making those anymore on the platform, and after a dozen platformers (DK, Mario, Toad, Rayman, Yoshi, Kirby...) I think it's safe to say that fans of the genre will have plenty to chose from, and one more DK game won't make a difference. A game "like" Metroid Prime however, might make a difference. Maybe not in console sales, but at the very least towards a part of your fanbase that has been starving.
According to the email Nintendo AU sent me. Event starts at 2am, Treehouse starts at 3am. (2:55am the following days)
Was the Treehouse directly after the event last year?
What other 1st party games though?I'm talking about how many Wii U users bought DKC:TF compared to how many users bought other 1st party game, what are you talking about?
I have a double feeling about the "not showing games for 2016 and beyond" thing here though. I think we will see (late) 2016 titles, and maybe even something 2017'ish.
Strategically they could do it because E3 2016 is likely to have a strong focus on NX, so they can blow their load on the current systems if they really want to. They have less reasons to keep the games that are in development on current gen close to their chest.
What's the myth here? Sales were underperforming.
But you are right, they started their next game long before TF was released. Nintendo was sitting on the game for 6 months to have a title for spring 2014.
REALLY? I want that demo made into a real HD game so bad.
Underperforming =/= terrible
It's on the Wii U. Every game not starring Mario or Link (and possibly Splatoon) has underperformed. Metroid fans are spreading the narrative that "TROPICAL FREEZE BOMBED" to elevate their series, despite the fact that Metroid games typically sell even worse than DKC. Genre saturation is the bigger problem here. You'd think Nintendo would feel confident in greenlighting another Metroid title after Other M sold to less than 1% of the Wii's userbase? It's hypocritical.
What other 1st party games though?
yo why everybody gotta get down on the dong?
I am so ready for fucking Diddy Kong!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_Wii_U_video_games
None of those are getting yet a second installment on Wii U, why DKC should?
Relatively short, but my gut says they don't have a lot to discuss anyway. Even being conservative (+/- 2mins):
5 - Yarn Yoshi again, release details, etc
5 - Animal Crossing amiibos and their associated game
5 - Super Mario Maker again, release details, etc
5 - Star Fox stuff
5 - Xenoblade 2 again, release details
5 - Indy/digital showcase
5 - Fire Emblem 3DS
5 - Devil's Third?
There's ~40 minutes alone.
DK banned from GAF.Getting down on dongs? Monkey business with Diddy!? This thread is heading in a direction I did not expect.

If they make another DK I hope it bombs too.
As embarrassing as Reggie's Cranky Kong announcement on VGX?Yep, I'm done with this thread. You people are embarrassing.
But did it sell worse or better than the last Metroid.
Which sold "close to half a million in US" on Wii. Wii sold around 50 million hardware units in US. So it only sold to around less than 1% of the customer base.
