Article:
Retail pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 24, 2025. At launch, the price for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will remain as announced on April 2 at $449.99, and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will remain as announced at $499.99. Pricing for both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will also remain unchanged at launch.

However, Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2 due to changes in market conditions. Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions.

I think I'm okay with the system price at $450.
I think I'm okay with MK at $50.
I think I'm okay with Donkey Kong at $70.

After that, all bets are off. I will definitely be buying a ton less than Switch 1. Not even close really.

They probably stalled to consider lowering it, and found the realities of economic uncertainties were selling people on their price gouge in the US.

Unfortunately, Mario Kart comes across as a Forza Horizon with more Nintendo limitations, but I'm sure it will be fun for many just because Mario Kart.

I feel like, if big Donny Orange doesnt walk some things back, there will be price increases in the near future. I just hope it doesnt affect the rest of the world...Where their countries rulers are a little more intelligent, or not AS corrupt helping their buddies make money from playing the market.

Fucking finally....now I just need to figure what my best option for preordering is. No idea how reliable amazon will be. Best Buy would be a good choice for store pick up if I could get it. Could still get an invite from Nintendo, but that's playing the lottery.

If they upped the price it would have been more bad news.

They already loat the chance the control the narrative. Nintendo communication is the absolute worst.

They underestimated the backlash.

Just accessories getting a small bump across the board then.

Pro Controller: $79.99 to $84.99
Joy-Con 2 Pair: $89.99 to $94.99
Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip: $34.99 to $39.99
Joy-Con 2 Strap: $12.99 to $13.99
Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set: $19.99 to $24.99
Switch 2 Camera: $49.99 to $54.99
Switch 2 Dock Set: $109.99 to $119.99
Switch 2 Carry Case: $33.99 to $39.99
Switch 2 All-In-One Carry Case: $78.99 to $84.99
Switch 2 AC Adapter: $28.99 to $34.99

If the ps5 taught us anything is that these consoles can go up in price and the idea that you should wait to buy one because they'll get cheaper is outdated.

Glad the console price isn't increasing (yet). I'm already fighting with my conscience about buying one.

Accessory prices going up makes sense. I'm actually surprised they unly pushed each up $5 (not that I'm buying a pro controller at those prices, 8bitdo for the win).

If they had used tarrifs as an excuse to push game prices up though I would be livid. If anything, they should have used market conditions as an excuse to back down on game prices. I get that they're a business, not a charity, and they need game sales now more than ever to make up for whatever hardware losses they're going to incur, BUT $70 for physical and $60 for digital moves a lot more software units and creates some positive momentum at launch.

Mario kart is $110 + tax in Canada (almost 130 lol) and DK bananza is 99.99 (other 70 usd games are 89.99 here)

Yeah these games dont have enough meat for me to justify the expense.

MK World $110CAD, DK $100CAD, Pro Controller $110CAD, Joycons $125CAD....yeah I dunno about this system....

And how is it that the pro controller is more than a Dualsense? It doesn't make sense...

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set - $119.99
Is this required if I want to play on Dock mode cause I don't do handheld gaming.

The console comes with it

Extra dock is a nice addition if you want to just bring switch 2 to another TV in the house rapidly and don't want to deal with constant recabling

Kinda shocked TBH that they aren't raising the console price, I think that's the first thing people were expecting. Peripherals getting a price increase (probably depending on the peripheral) in response to tariffs isn't too big a deal, as most peripherals aren't necessities.

MK World being $80 will still not be funny tho, and we don't know how common $80/$90 dollar games are going to be (right now it's only MK World). Also no price increase for the NSO service; hopefully it remains that way, but if they added new meaningful features at least that would justify some increase (take notes, SIE).

If they upped the price it would have been more bad news.

They already loat the chance the control the narrative. Nintendo communication is the absolute worst.

They underestimated the backlash.

This news is kind of a W for Nintendo after what SIE just did with the PS+ price increases.

I'm not buying anything for $80. I'll wait 3 years for Zelda to get their usual 30% off they do once a year. Not buying any indies or 3rd party games on this thing either. Just Nintendo 1st party, $70 or below. Barely going to use this thing.

I'll get the bottom tier of NSO only for Splatoon 4.
