Nintendo Switch 2 has the worst launch day titles of any system in my gaming life.

I'm not a fan of them, but launch day titles, I think Switch 2 launch titles are still better than Xbox or PlayStation had for XBone and PS4 for 1st party. Outside of Bloodborne (which came after launch), the "good" games were 3rd party.

Yeah like a year and a half after launch. If we can count up to late 2026 as Switch 2 launch it's gonna have the best launch ever.

No business with half a braincell would put any first party ip against a new mario kart.

The launch slate is looking great. Within the first 6 months you are going to have 3 bangers. One being a new metroid game. That's insanely good.

You are a moron TC. Some people get instant amnesia each time a new console launch gets announces we have been given much worse before

Retarded takes that are objectively wrong (we have 40+ years of console launch lineups to compare against, do your homework, people) should be a banneable offense

The Nintendo Switch 2 lineup is stacked and literally does have a little bit of everything in there, including Deltarune ffs

The launch lineup sucks. MK and messing around with the Zelda games should keep me busy for a bit. I am ok with the lineup because DK comes out a month later. That's two new games in a month I will get a lot of gameplay out of. Death Stranding 2 is also June. That's obviously not NSW2, but leaves me with plenty of games to play in that time period.

Most consoles don't have a system seller as huge as Mario kart at launch... Even if you combine all the launch games sells that's a hefty number to get to. The wii did and that's almost it off the top of my head.

Mario Kart, Hitman, TOTK and Cyberpunk are all solid. Can't call it the worst when any one of those games are better than the entire 3DS launch line-up put together.

There's Mario Kart World and some third parties. And their one game is $80 digital.

what about the Interactive instruction manual you have to pay for lmao

Watching Mario Kart World during the treehouse increased my hype by like 100x. I wasn't initially sold on the open world, but it frankly looks so good. Also the visuals are really quite nice.

Are DK and Metroid definitely not launch titles? I'd assume they're at least launch window.

And I'd be lying if I said I'm not drooling at the idea of playing TotK at 4K60 on day one…

I dunno, I don't think it's too bad. There's gonna be plenty for me, at least.

It's a great game but it doesn't make me want to buy the system. They should have had Metroid Prime 4 ready for launch.
If Metroid Prime 4 is a system seller for you then just get it when it comes out? Shouldn't be too long after launch. Weird that they haven't announced a release date yet but I'd guess August/September at the latest.

Mario Kart is much more universal and an actual system seller

Donkey Kong Bananza already has a confirmed release date. It's July 17th, so not at launch, but close.

I think if Metroid Prime 4 was a launch title we would have gotten confirmation of that in the Direct. My guess is late summer, early fall. August or September.

Careful…you pooped on Nintendo for TotK. I think in reality you are Nintendo's biggest hype man.

(In disguise of course)
Having criticisms doesn't mean I don't like something. I liked TotK, but it breaks the systems that were designed well with BotW in mind. As such I don't think it makes BotW redundant, unlike a lot of people here.

i do not think so i think we would have a date by now if it was early fall

Not necessarily. As far as I know, Nintendo hasn't dated any games beyond July, which makes sense if they're planning a June Not-Technically-E3 Direct soon after the Switch 2's launch.

The most exciting thing for me is the Zelda upgrades but I don't think we got a release date for those? I didn't actually finish TOTK because I got used to superior performance on Steam Deck OLED and couldn't stomach the jerky performance in handheld mode on Switch. Mario Kart's open world is interesting and probably will actually sell systems but Nintendo hardware always sells out at launch anyway. To me the Wii U launch was way worse and there was a software drought for months unlike Switch 2 where we at least have Donkey Kong in a few weeks.

New Zelda versions are at launch.

I think the N64 and switch was worse if we're honestly keeping it strictly to Nintendo consoles. I was too young to care about launch titles tho, I just wanted the new games and experiences. Hopefully I can be there for this one as well. But damn imma be broke 😭

3DS launch was far worse than this, as they only had fucking Pilot Wings, Steel Diver, and Nintendogs + Cats(???? the hell was this launch???) for first party and a Street Fighter port on top of other mostly trash games (except Shadow Wars, I heard that one was the one good game at launch except Street Fighter). That, and the online shop didn't even work for three months. And the only other first party games that released within the first couple of months are two N64 ports. It took until fucking November for Super Mario 3D Land to come out... and the third party games that did launch around this time were either trash or ports of older but good games (one of the exceptions was the 3D Resident Evil Mercenaries game; come to think of it Capcom really did a lot of the heavy lifting in the launch window of the 3DS). Yeah, compare that to the Switch 2 launch day, much less launch year... yeah. It's astonishing how badly they fucked up the 3DS launch.

Nintendo could sell this thing with nothing else but MK World for the rest of the year and they wouldn't be able to keep up with demand 😂

I am not buying a Switch 2.

But i was not moved by the 3rd party titles at launch. Civ looked good, Ridge racer was ok too. The 3rd parties were simply not good enough. Be honest.

I actually am starting to think all the hype about all the 3rd parties like Assassins Creed, Madden, FFVIIR, Baulders Gate, COD, MS and Sony has hurt Nintendo. It seems the consumer was lied too or possibly something went wrong with dev kits. Nintendo will have a hard time securing enough 3rd party to live up to the hype. Especially now, today did them no favors. Nor did Nintendo's response removing the Treehouse video. ROFL.

Maybe Nintendo should have set the direct up better and showed only games launching within 60 days of the system launch and then said, another Direct would come before June. Which would allowed more 3rd parties to be shown.

Right or Wrong. Nintendo is the current face of corporate greed. (Who would have thought!). At least for the moment anyway. 2k and Rockstar may say "hold my beer". Auto industry, food industry and pharmaceutical's must be whistling by the graveyard after today.

The gaming industry will course correct in time, and adjust prices and expectations. Unfortunately, due to a confluence of events, Nintendo appears to have picked the worst day and week possible to reveal the Switch 2.

The thing Nintendo is guilty of, is a lack of communication and transparency. I also think it appears Nintendo is out of touch with the worldwide market. That falls on Nintendo's leadership. I do think the excessive hype hurt Nintendo greatly, and it will be a lesson learned from this situation.
