Nintendo Switch 2 has the worst launch day titles of any system in my gaming life.

It's going to sell very well and it's a Mario kart and it actually is somewhat of an evolution just because it's open world but talk about hyperbole. Selling well doesn't take away from the reality of it being a bad launch and a subpar lineup of ports and things that we've already seen on top of the terrible pricing.

If they are making big margins AND it's selling well, clearly they did a good job on pricing.

Last years should've made this trend obvious, as scalpers were making all the money by fattening the price. You must be insane as a retailer to not just ask that price in the first place.

Ahhh, the retard strikes again! Here is the PS5 launch list:

Demon's Souls
Astros Playroom (FREE and incredible)
Spider-Man Miles Morales
Spider-Man remastered
Sackboys Adventure

These were the 1st party offerings. Not the greatest launch ever, not the worst, no comparison to what Nintendo is doing though.
He meant to say just Xbox Series but his fanboy mind tried to drag PS5 into it too.

It's a pretty lame launch but technically the "launch" is two tiers and ends in December. It's the same "staggered launch" they did with Switch 1. They just haven't told us what tier 2 is until after we buy Donkey Kong.

I thought for sure that was going to be a pack-in game like Wii Sports when I saw it in the stream.. I can't believe they want money for the mini games and infosoftware :(.

Stuff like this, and the language blocking, make it really easy to sneer at the game prices and wait to buy second hand. I think Iwata would make heads roll over this.

There's Mario Kart World and some third parties. And their one game is $80 digital.

so you are... 4 years old? because this isn't even the worst in the last 5 years.

I'm not impressed. But I was not impressed with rhe first Switch at launch either and it turned out pretty OK... As usual I wonder what I'm not getting here. I'm sure people will be happy to pay 90 USD for a Mario Kart game and that it will sell like crazy.

Someone didn't buy a Wii U. I think I bought Batman and got Nintendoland as a pack-in? Awful. Mario Kart looks really cool.

For children who can't budget and finance it will be tough. It's also easy to say the wind will blow either way when nothing is really happened. I don't give a shit about the tariffs when Nintendo is incompetent in their decision making and the games are what they are.

I understand the fans can sit there in their own little cubby and table and feel like the world according to them is perfect. But the reality is in this case, they had a pretty lackluster showing with the same types of games that the fans always talk over plus extra ports and last gen revisions which you may or may not have to pay for. And then you add bad pricing and slap in the face that you can't really defend. Talking about tariffs and bullshit is just the play card that I'm sure the Nintendo commission wants his fans to use as an excuse not to talk about the bad pricing.
This. Nintendo is going to use the tarriff shit to be more greedier to its consumers. We are seeing it right now.

I love Mariokart & have wanted a 3d DK game again for decades plus TOTK upgrade. No problem as far as games go for me.

Mario Kart World is a very strong launch game, but the rest of the stuff I can play better versions elsewhere.

The question is, would I be happy to pay the best part of £500 for one game? The answer to that is a resounding no. Especially since I'd also need a new memory card.

I'll be sitting this one out for at least 12 months, if I ever pick one up at all.

Having thought on it for a day, I'm not sure what I'll really be playing at launch. MK is a great game to jump in and out of, but not to really focus on like BOTW was. There's lots of third party support, but it's all old games.

I guess it'll be Wind Waker - I haven't played it since 2013, with the remaster we're pretending doesn't exist.

Prime 4 being there on day one as a new single-player game would have made a huge difference.

No mainline Mario / Zelda is a surprise.

I can't remember a launch of any Nintendo consoles without one. Even Wii U had a new Mario.

Going with Mario Kart is a bit of a risk. They'd have been better off hanging onto TOTK for this.

It's one of the worse reveals of a console, but the launch slate is decent enough imo.

Mario Kart will sell a ton, especially when Nintendo is doing some overall discounting with that bundle.

The real test IMO is what happens when they run out of the die hards and have to start converting the normies that bought Switch 1 to 2.

Why do people continually think third party games don't count?
Generally it's because no one decides their gaming investments based on them, as you can get them with any console really. What typically sways your opinion is 1st and 2nd party exclusives.

The Switch 1/2's situation is exacerbated because a lot of those ports are not only late ones, but are also being sold at full price.

Exclusives on launch were needed before backwards compatibility was a thing . If it plays games from older generations with enhancements and has one exclusive or two, it's ok. Eventually it will have more.

I suspect Mario Kart World alone will blow away the entire (U.S.) launch lineups of GameCube, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U... for me at least.

Strange but only 10-15% of the install base of past consoles bought in the first year. And only 10-15% of the games on past consoles released in the first year.

Unless you are hardcore into Mario Kart I don't see much reason getting this at launch.
I wouldn't say it's the worst launch ever though, Switch was worse in my opinion.
You could swap the title of the game out for any game you are into and the statement is the same in this example

"oh you're going to get a console for x game on it are you that into it ? "

What ever console it is if people like the game they will buy it for that.

I'm more into the platformers so DKB might sell me more on The system. Or a new Mario platformer

There's a reason DKBananza releases one month later and problably not other great game releases that launch day, Mario Kart World will overshadow anything that launches the release month. If there's one game that with no fear could launch the same release day of a brand new GTA game, that is a brand new Mario Kart game

Watching the Mario Kart World direct now... your argument is that I will only have Mario Kart world to play for an entire month at launch...
and I hate to break this to you... Mario Kart is all I'm going to want to play for months after launch.

Yep its not great.

And it doesn't matter. This thing will sell truckloads regardless. People who haven't got their face pressed right up against the videogame hobby (ie: us here) will lap it up

Hobbyists won't get you 150M. Not even remotely close.

Need to be selling to super casual mainstream users to sell at that level.

Talking about how fair is the price is a thing, and totally fair to argue. Using for how great the launch tittles are for a console is just being a hater with bullshit talk

i dunno, but the socila media buzz has been brutal.
This will affect their sales initially. Even though the first wave should be good. After the hardcore Nintendo crowd they might slow if this keeps up. I'm not seeing good reception at all online. Nintendo is conceding nothing but the air in the box.

They'll be fine once their 20 million sellers start coming out and maybe adjust policy a bit here and there.

Let's see what these treehouse shit is.

They are gonna have a tough time convincing parents to buy this at these prices.

They also said they have a 3 prong strategy for releasing games so they don't have gaps. Barebones though. MK and a bunch of upscaled old games is a shitty strategy

Launching with a successor to the 70m seller is probably the best lauch line up ever.

Astro playroom, DS Remake are nothing lol
