Sold my Switch, I was afraid no one would buy it! It took me 4 days to sell it. Hahah.

I haven't gotten any scratches on my Switch screen yet, but at the edges it does get smudges from docking it that take a while to wipe off. Very persistent. This is only from (un)docking a handful of times. I don't want to get a screen protector because I messed up placement once on the DS and always fear I'll do that again. Will probably get some pads. The dock is the only Switch part that feels incredibly cheap and these scratch issues don't make matters better. Some third party will (and should) make a 'lite' dock that's similar to the WiiU and is open on one side.
If I remember correctly, the scratching issue on the 3DS would start out as marks that can be wiped off before evolving into full blown scratches.
My problem are the (probably) hardware related problems:
Cartridges not registering.
This is a nightmare, really. Getting a fully functional Switch is basically pure luck? I know there were launch problems with the other consoles but I don't remember them being as common and grave as these.
Just got my switch, installed the update - but I have a problem.
I'm from belgium, belgium has two official languages (dutch and french). I speak dutch
My nintendo account is setup in english.
Now when I try to enter the e-shop, it says it can't display the eshop in my chosen language (english) and defaults to french without letting me choose.
Anyone else has had this problem? And/or a solution? Can't seem to choose a language on the switch after it initially installed.
Yes everyone from Belgium (including me) has this. If you set your system to English, you get a French e-shop. Setting it to Dutch gives you a Dutch shop, but it also gives you Dutch text in Zelda. Choosing is easy for me: I'll take the French eshop if everything else is English.

Nooo, you want to turn off both settings! There isn't, shouldn't be, a real problem! If he has the settings on like I am guessing, then they are doing their job!
HDMI-CEC is used for things like making your TV turn on and switch to the input of whatever electronic device you turned on. So basically, the Switch keeps turning on and off because the battery will go down to 99% battery and then to 100% to prevent overcharging. Charging to 100% seems to turn the Switch on in some way. Since it'd be turning on again, the TV would think that you'd want to switch to it's input, thus creating the issue you described.
I have this too. With my home media amp. No solution as yet.

This is not correct. The Switch only sends the "switch input" signal when you actually wake it up. My TV (a Sony) has never turned on or switched input while the Switch has been in standby, only when I manually wake it up. This is clearly the intended behavior.
Now, it seems like Samsung TVs (and perhaps others) have this "feature" which automatically switches inputs just from getting an active HDMI signal, and that's what causing this. This has nothing to do with HDMI-CEC, but it just something Samsung has added because I guess they thought it would be useful, so changing those settings on the Switch won't help.
Shit. While there is no user method to back up saves, I kind of hoped Nintendo CS would have an internal method to do it
I'm not so sure about that. I can have mine in sleep mode for hours and not touch it, and my LG tv will occasionally give me a "a new device has been connected, switch to that input?" pop up message.
Turned off the setting on the Switch, can't find anything in any of the settings of the TV to change. But many people are having this same issue, with multiple brands of TVs and all settings turned off.

Just noticed this last night... is it normal for my Switch to pass a certain low level of 'interference' noise through my headphones? Like on Zelda loading screens, there's no sound, but there is this sort of static-y noise. It's not totally silent.
Yep. My Kinivo HDMI switcher does the same thing....periodically switching to the Switch input for absolutely no reason. It doesn't happen on a schedule either. Sometimes it happens 30 seconds apart, sometimes it takes over 10 minutes.
Its not that. It just didnt click with me, I bought it for Zelda but came to the conclusion that the WiiU version is good enough to enjoy Zelda.
So why would I pay 320 for a console that is a lil bit better than the WiiU. So I sold it for the same price I bought it.

Just bought Fast RMX and HD rumble "sounds" awful.
Can anyone confirm for me Metal Slug 3 on Switch isn't censored milk blood rubbish?
Getting a fully functional console at launch is always pure luck and there is always someone such as yourself working themselves up each launch over it. Having worked in technical support for years, you realize that shit happens when it comes to electronics. I had the joycon issue with my second set of greys, rather than lose my mind, I swapped them out, now I have no issues.
I feel like (or maybe I just hope) Fast RMX is not a good example of HD rumble. It's a bit too intense I wish you could turn it down a bit. I hope it's more nuanced in other games that use it. I kind of thought that was the point anyway.Gotta admit, I'm not terribly impressed with HD rumble. I don't dislike it, but it's not all it was made out to be.
Yeah. It's always going to happen with launches because it's a large amount of people all getting their device on the exact same day.Getting a fully functional console at launch is always pure luck and there is always someone such as yourself working themselves up each launch over it. Jose from IGN tweeted this image last week that seems to show his Zelda play time. How?
Lol they mean how as in how is it showing playtimeWhys that surprising in an open world game? I've got over 200 hours into Witcher 3.
Hell I've put 80 hours into Deus Ex Mankind Devided, and that's a much shorter game.
Yep, this is what I meant. Sorry, badly phrased. I've probably hit over 40 hours already! I meant how do you show game time.Lol they mean how as in how is it showing playtime
The bigger problem is if a problem happens after you've started Zelda. The lack of save backups is a massive over-sight.That and mass production in short timeframes. I remember my PSP failing to play UMD's, that killed me. Nothing's worse than hyping yourself up for a new toy for months and then ending up with a dud. So I get the reactions by people that end up with a faulty device.
I resent the clickbait news articles and such though, pretending they are widespread problems on hundreds of thousands of devices. You see it with every popular product. Bending iPhones and what not, and before you know it, everyone is worried about their device being broken.
Getting a broken product sucks, but as long as the company has their customer service in order and fixes/replaces the product as soon as they can, there really isn't much of a problem. It sucks, because you want to be playing Zelda, but unfortunately it is what it is.
And honestly, this is not limited to launches when it comes to technology, sometimes you just get a bad piece and that's life, warranty is there for you.

Brilliant. Thats what i thought it might be. Strange it works like that. I wonder if I've played more or less than I think. It's in your "profile" (tap on your icon on the top left):
