Yup I am right there with you. Own and xb1/ps4 but I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the N64 either.
I said when it was announced I would wait till black friday/holidays but the Zelda hype plus the Switch being a sexy looking system is getting to me. I personally dont even care to dock it...I am just super tempted to play Zelda in portable mode and since I don't own a Nintendo ds but have wanted one for a long time, the Switch just looks so appealing to me.
I might go check out some Best buys and Targets today and if they have stock, I might cop one with Zelda...yes I am weak
Wow that's pretty great customer service! So I was one of the unlucky ones who had my order delayed from amazon. My switch won't even be here until Monday. I was pissed and emailed amazon and they gave me a month free prime, whatever. After listening to my friends all weekend playing and loving it and another friend walk into Walmart and pick one up no problem I emailed amazon again to say 1 month prime isn't good enough it was delayed 3 days. They responded with 30% back from my order so $89 off on my switch. I finally feel ok about everything now.
Using the parental app, do you need to keep it on even if you have no settings disabled? I don't like seeing that orange bar all the time but I'd still like to see my game tracking.

Possible you got a lemon. What is your set up? Are you trying to use the joycons near a tv?
I'm curious if you brought the Switch to a corner of a room without any other electronics if you used it in kickstand mode if you have the same connectivity issues.
I keep thinking how good it would be to play zelda wherever I go (train, lunch break at work etc..), what's stopping me going out and grabbing one is when I think about whats coming up after Zelda that really appeals to me?
Tough decision ahead.
Have they confirmed it will be 60fps on Switch?I was watching Yooka Laylee footage from GDC in 60FPS and it looked beautiful, and I was thinking about getting it for PC or PS4, but you know, having the option to take it with me anywhere, man... I think I will take hit and go with Switch because of portability.
I think down the line they will release a "home console" only version of the Switch with a tiny box and sell it cheaper than this model.
The Eshop is a currently web-based thing, right? The 3DS and Wii U Eshops were native, why not this? Seems strange...
Hell no, they are way too expensive right now. Then again, all if their accessories are crazy.Buy some gray joycons
How? Public wifi?Since the sun is too bright for me to play Zelda right now, I had some fun with the Switch's web applet:

So I've been a little confused about the storage situation. Is it bad? I keep hearing everyone say it makes the most sense to buy the games physical because of it. I love physical games to a certain extent but that's a bit of a shame considering the portability of the console. Is it possible and manageable to go more fully digital?
There's a thread about it on reddit(probably same method)

So I just put the Switch back in the dock and I knocked it over and the screen fell it. There's two pretty big scratches on the screen now and I hate myself pretty bad right now because I'm usually very careful with these things.
What are my options? Going back to the store? Contacting Nintendo?
Yeah, it all feels so fragile. My kids want to play with it and i feel like i am hovering when it is out of the dock and in their hands. They dropped my ipad last year and now the screen is shattered so i worry about the same happening. So I just put the Switch back in the dock and I knocked it over and the screen fell it. So i've been following all the threads over the launch period and the hype is starting to tempt to pull the trigger.
I'm really keen to play Zelda but i've not owned a Nintendo console since the 64, but the idea of home/portable system is really appealing.
I have an Xbone and PS4 as well but i just can't decide beyond Zelda whether there is enough to justify the £280 plus £45/50 for Zelda.
I have many games to keep me busy on PS4 and xbox (Horizon currently keeping me very busy).
Anybody else in a similar situation?
It's not bad, but, due to the realities of the current situation with MicroSD cards, it will be a while before it can reach its full potential. The absolute max size card you can buy for it right now is 256GB. That will increase over time, but it means anyone who downloads a substantial amount of stuff will likely have to upgrade their MicroSD card at least once during the system's lifespan.
Hi guys. I just bought.a Switch after not following it for awhile so I don't really know a lot. I really don't care about the TV mode as I would love to just use my Switch as a handheld exclusively.
Is that feasible? Can I charge and use all the other system functions without docking? Or are there things I can't do without the dock?
Hmmm I see. It supports up to 2 TB right? That's just not out yet?
And don't games still have to install anyway from the cartridge ala something like PS4? If so what's the benefit of buying it physical?
It should support cards up to 2TB, yes.
Physical games do not get installed.
I ask again, are the Switch's speakers supposed to be on the quiet side? Doesn't seem all that loud, and its barely audible on the lower settings.
Less than half and I can't really hear much of anything...Mine is loudish, depends on where you are listening . At home , I use less than half of the setting
I have always looked at Nintendo since the GameCube as the complimentary console to my PlayStation. The fact that you never played Wii U means you have a lot to catch up on. Mario Kart 8 is fantastic, and GameCube I believe will be on eshop? I think you'll get a lot of use with the Switch since you've been away for so long.
Plus, it's a really great system.
