Nintendo Treehouse Live 10/7 With Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Age of Calamity Gameplay Details

I'm in for Age of Calamity on day one. I'd like to see more unique features highlighted though. I'm playing through Hades right now, and it really shows how even grindy and repetitive games can be very rewarding if the progression and rewards are carefully crafted to remain engaging. The core gameplay in Hyrule Warriors was always good. I want to see more of the UI, the menus, the story, the weapon and experience upgrading. Honestly, if they can improve that the games will be a lot more fun.

As for Pikmin 3, I've owned it on Wii U since it came out and honestly never played it. I might go back and play it soon, as I wont be rebuying this one. I've heard nothing but rave reviews though.

Wonder if they are playable and possibly shown by TreeHouse

It would not be a warriors game without dozens of characters being playable, Hyrule Warriors even had DLC to add even more. Still I was hoping they did not give us too many beyond the Lore/Story but since these two are fairly popular and part of the story in BoTW they should be an easy playable expectation.

Deep Dive of an old game? How does that work?

Will be cool to see AOC though. On the fence on it. I love the BOTW world but I'm not huge on Warriors games.

Excellent! Will buy Pikmin for sure but I am still on the fence about AoC, as I have never played a Musou game before. I thought my first experience would be Persona 5 Scramble but Atlus probably forgot the West exists.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe?
Does that mean new content or its with the DLC?
It has the DLC + new content + coop story mode. I already bought everything on Wii U, not sure if I'm willing to shell another 60$, especially when I can just emulate it.

as I have never played it before I am excited to see it
Lucky you, I always considered Pikmin to be one of Nintendo's greatest offerings, I hope that by some miracle, the switch will help Pikmin gain the recognition it deserves.

It has extra content, extra features and probably QoL changes and improvements.

I'm sure the game will be awesome, but I can't avoid but to feel a little disappointed by the massive amounts of asset reuse. Bit of a shame, Nintendo has been on fire with the switch.

Meanwhile my Switch will continue to gather dust, but I'm amazed at how good Rogue Company looks undocked, I just with those awful joycons were better.

I'm don't quite understand this concern, the Champions were never playable and Zelda/Impa too. Most of the towns on BoTW were destroyed and in Age of Calamity they are still standing. So no they are not reused. The art direction sure but it's become a series after all so that not changing is a plus since fans love the style.

The enemies are reused, the terrain and buildings are reused... the only new assets are Impa and the frog. That's not the Nintendo quality I buy their consoles for.

If you like what you see and are looking forward to it, more power to you. I don't.

edit: triggered reactions? :messenger_crying: Comon, Nintendo are big boys and they generally make good stuff, they can take a bit of jaded criticism from a longtime fan from time to time no? eh? :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Adding Zelda to Dynasty warriors just lead to the greatest of disappointments when I hear that music, see the symbols and then instead of another awesome Zelda game I get another shitty DW Piece of crap.

I'd take the first hyrule Warriors over some zelda games like the DS games (phantom hourglass in particular) if I'm being honest.

No, I was not triggered, that's why I didn't reply until now. I was simply clarifying. But you are ok to post your opinion and agree to disagree.

How are the buildings reused though? You mean Gerudo Town? There are no standing buildings in BotW other than Gerudo, Zora, Goron and Rito places. All the "imperial" cities and villages they've shown so far in Age of Calamity are new. Have you even played BotW?

It's the same world, a direct canon prequel. I really don't mind them reusing the same visual style, quite the contrary, I'm looking forward to seeing Hyrule in it's former glory as I expected to see in BotW but never did.

Seriously can you see the enemies are the same the environments are the same, and so on? I just saw today a video that was a fight event at gerudo town, just as it stands in botw.

It's a copy paste job, whether you like it or not...

SMH... so defensive "you haven't even played botw" goddamned I booted the game TODAY of all days after not touching it for a while to finish off one shrine quest.

Yeah, but it's supposed to be the same. It's the same world, but 100 years in the past. The selling point of the game is exactly that, show the player what happened 100 years prior to the calamity... of course it's the same world, it is a direct (and canon) prequel.

This is not BotW 2, this is a spin-off "deeper look" into a history we already know. If you don't like it, fine, but I (and others) do.

Lol must be sucks to be you. I guess you never care about context either as long as they are REUSED ASSETS.

Also, check this out.

It's the same art style but there are quite a lot of differences. Watch the Lon Lon Ranch part. (I think BotW looks much better, but AoC still has its charm)

It will be interesting having such a connection to BOTW world, Hyrule warriors 1 was already an interesting take on the warriors games. If BOTW2 has a more traditional legend of Zelda dungeon style, that would be quite a diverse trilogy of games.

So I watched the video, and alright the lon-lon segment is mostly new stuff, the enemies and the farm itself.

But the gerudo segment... oof man. The town is mostly the same, they appear to have shortened some buildings to make the side roads wider to give room for combat, but that's all... and you only fight the small yiga dude and the big yiga dude, which are being reused. The desert is harder to tell because of the haze of the original, but I think it's broadly the same except they added rocks and columns for visual interest and they seem to have removed the big chunk of ruins directly ahead of gerudo town? That or the people making the videos took a wrong turn. And of course Link, Zelda and Barbosa are pulled straight from botw. Super disappointing.

Switch is dope!

Glad yo have you around.
I'm very happy with it. I don't need cinematic graphics when I have great games on Switch. I love Playstation and Xbox but I used to hate Nintendo and not anymore.

Almost all the games I want are here and if I want I can play it while dropping a deuce on the porcelain throne.

I'm having a blast with Diablo Eternal Collection and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Then there's Trials of Mana which I haven't started yet.

Looking forward to eventually getting other games like Skyrim, Call of Cthulhu and Breath of the Wild.
