Mibu was an unfortunate loss. He would make good arguments and detailed posts, but his weakness was that he would get too personal and demeaning the longer the conversation would go.

I think he would just go on arguing for too long, because he couldn't let go. It can be exhausting, which is why I just hit the eject button on a debate if I ever get a sense of when things are headed downhill.

You mean like the weekly famitsu sales threads where without fail he would be in trying to do damage control. I swear no normal gamer goes to that much effort unless they are been paid by sony.
 
It is such a stupid statement, if you have issues with Nintendo don't buy their products, I don't care about anything you said so I will continue to buy their games and consoles, either Nintendo will remain Nintendo even after we are all dead.

My favorite part was DC having better online, lol DC had a browser disc what else was there? Games had their own online networks. I do not believe OP ever used a DC online...

Yeah, those too. No one here is normal 🤷‍♂️ ...I guess I just enjoyed his particular brand of not-normal.

Sometimes it was fun to hop into the ring with him with debates...and sometimes he'd quickly throw me out, Royal Rumble-style.

"games - great 1st party games" I am just here for just those. I buy physical carts most of the time. I bought the mk combo because having a physical version of that didnt outweigh the price difference to me plus it can be shared. The SW2 hardware seems fine for Nintendo games, if I can get ~15 good Nintendo games out of the system, its worth it to me in my mind.

Sure there are plenty of things to complain about like the SW2 display issues, online doesn't have a great value(I don't subscribe), and the depreciation of the old pro controllers just to upsell new ones for example. Buying 3rd party games that are non exclusive seems pointless as well unless its your only option and you prefer mobile gaming. Game prices being raised sucks as well, but I will say this if I'm going to throw down ~$70 for a game, I'm going to have more confidence I'm going to get more value with a Nintendo game compared to other companies 1st party titles generally speaking from personal experience. I'm not defending Nintendo here, as many of your points are valid. I guess it depends what value it presents to yourself and that's going to vary from individual to individual.

They all get a free pass on occasion, but Nintendo has earned it bro. They have created and recreated the medium for our sake multiple times. They deserve a ton of respect for that.
 
Because the fans are the same crowd that buys the same IPs every 2 weeks and claims Nintendo can do no wrong while they put in a 30 digit friend code to trade for a Pokemon that was exclusive to a $60 Pokemon version they don't own

They didn't do anything for our sake. They are a for profit company. The entire 3DS/WiiU gen was basically Iwata begging for forgiveness in online videos because they were so behind in release windows.

And I'm a Nintendo fan first and foremost. I hate MS and think Sony are meh (at least their first party output, I like their exclusives deals like Rise of the Ronin, Nioh, Bloodborne... that's why I got a PS5 and none of their first party titles aside from Returnal and Demon's Souls). I like Nintendo a lot, but they're cheap and scummy a lot of times, especially compared to the NES-SNES-64 days.

They don't get a pass at all, but they are outside of the xb-ps rivalry, which has transitioned seamlessly into the pc-ps rivalry. So it's a bit different and you don't have people going up their own ass trying to harp on everything. In that way, criticism of nintendo tends to be more reasonable even when it sounds a little over the top. Dimwits tend to massively overstate their opinions online thanks to an epidemic of underreported fetal alcohol syndrome.

Nintendo has sucked ever since the N64. I will never buy anything Nintendo anymore and I pirate the few games along the way I want to play which isn't many.

Bottom line with Nintendo hardware, if you're deep enough into gaming to have a forum account in 2025 to post about it, you should know that it's a poor choice to use as a primary gaming platform. (unless you are truly Nintendo-only with only a very mild interest in some third party stuff).

As a machine bought just to play Nintendo games, I mean, they're the ones making games tailored to that specific hardware spec? I don't see what the problem is. They can control exactly how it performs and what the limitations are. In that use case, I think it's fine. I expect to buy one down the line when I stumble upon one in store and there's a decent number of titles available.

Personally, I'm in the same boat, but part of it for me is I think I've just grown up and moved on. Nintendo was my gaming childhood. It got me into gaming, along with Sega. First RPG I beat was Super Mario. RPGs are now my favorite genre. Mario Kart, Top Gear and Rock N Roll Racing (also first Blizzard game for me) were my top racers. It opened me up to gaming.

Then I got older. Racers were better on other systems. RPGs and shooters were better on other systems. I don't enjoy platformers like I used to. What initially interested me I had to go elsewhere for better experiences. What Nintendo still does well doesn't interest me anymore.

I respect Nintendo for what they've done, but their games and services stopped appealing to me 20 years ago.

Save that popcorn for PS6 price announcement. Same for the Next Xbox if there even is one. Evilore is gonna buy a brand new GT 63 just with the adsense from that day alone. (Great choice btw. Cirrus Silver Mango is really the only way to go on the paint). I would buy a PPV if they did a live E3 where they both present the new systems for the first time and give the price. Treat that like the Super Bowl. Make a few dips, crack an EH Taylor, put the good comfy sweatpants on. Sounds really nice.
