Are there also giant planets like Jupiterin the game?

With giant I mean planets 1000x bigger than the "earth sized" planets.

What about planet with rings like Saturn or comets?

Oh hell yea. Went back to the starting planet again. Found the Plasma launcher technology. I can now blow the shit out of land. muahahahahahahaha

And just made me a nice tunnel to nowhere. lol

Has Hello Games or Sony addressed the fact the Limited Edition theme isn't a Dynamic Theme as advertised?

Clearly states "Dynamic PS4 Theme".

Yet the video here shows a static image; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNxfFlsfThM

This is twice now that they've been deceptive.

Great write up, these were my exact feelings as well. When I left my home planet. I didn't get to find a randomly crashed ship, but I got into a dog fight with a random ship passing by. After shooting it down and it crash landed on the planet we were above, a marker showed up indicating where it crashed. Took me about 10 mins to get to the location due to the size of the planet, but when I got there, I was able to collect some materials and it allowed me to repair the ship for my own use. I left it there for now, but might go back tonight and fix it up as I need something better than my starter.

The ship isn't visible at the crash site though, is it? There's not like, a smoldering crater and the identifiable remains of a ship.

For those of you looking for a new ship. If you can't find a crashed one you can always chill in a space station till another ship lands and then make an offer to buy that ship. I've seen ships that cost any where from 200k to 5mil.

I can't get over the terrible FOV of the game, it's so bad.

Is the protagonist some sort of bobblehead alien?

For real, it breaks the inmersion and kind of ruins the nice vistas of the worlds, having that "handgun" so close to the camera, no arms, totally cropped fov.

Weird.

I bought this game after not really watching any videos or reading things about it after it was first announced. Kind of went on a media blackout on it for how hyped everyone was making it. I pre-ordered it yesterday and played it last night for two hours. I completed my first planet, then flew to space and to a landing dock of some sort. They don't really explain anything from here on, I have no objectives. I flew to another planet and explored around for a little then flew back to the landing dock in space.

Is there any objectives to this game or do I just kind of explore planets?

I have severe motion sickness issues with fps games and a low fov, but I played for around 4 hours yesterday without issue.

As a point of comparison: I couldn't play the witness without increasing the fov, Made me sick in ~10 min

I am very susceptible to motion sickness and have had zero issues with the game. Granted, I've only put in a couple hours, but so far so good.

Thanks guys, I've ordered on PS4 can't wait to get out their and explore this massive universe.

Is there a way to get rid of this annoying DLC ship without using it? Or at least to make that nagging message stop?

It's a single-player game.

There's nebulous talk about multiplayer functionality, but the chances of meeting someone are incredibly, incredibly low. Also, the game is offline when you're playing it (you can pause, which means it's not multiplayer).

I always looked at it as a multiplayer game where the chances of meeting someone are extremely low like you said but through and through having a single-player experience 99% of the time.

I don't know a whole lot either but I'm a bit further than you.

If you picked Atlas guidance in the beginning you should have new objectives guiding you to refuel your warp drive.

what the hell.. this is the first game that has not come on release day for me.

Amazon says it will be here by 8pm but UPS says Wens the 10th?

who is correct here?

So I have played the game for around a couple of hours and so far I'm really enjoying it. It did crash about 30 minutes in and lost all my horidoum(sp?) but it didn't take long to get back to where I was.

Fixed my ship and have been going along the prompted bits, got my hyperdrive, went one system along and have just got the blueprints to create themselves materials for making more warp drives and have built a couple more warp drives ready to go along.

Item space is becoming a problem bit I'm gonna have to save for a new ship since they seem to have a lot more than the standard ones.

I don't think I'm going to spend too much time on each planet but instead work my way along and see how things go. Really looking forward to continuing though and it's basically everything I was expecting so I'm very happy.

I figured this was the best place to ask for some information. I'd just like to know if the game has a story or narrative? If so, is it like an RPG type linear story? I'm really interested in it and this is the information me and my friends need before considering a purchase. Normally I'd search the thread but it's already massive. Thanks in advance! :)

Yes it does. And it seems really good

There are small fun decisions and there seem to be
bigger plot decisions too

Holy shit this fucking second I got to show story point

What the fuuuuuu

How do you know, you are human?

I seriously doubt you can meet anyone, the way they're coy about it seems more evasive than anything, maybe it will be a future update if anything.

So what's the consensus on redeeming the pre-order ship right away?

Because I really don't want to be stuck with that ugly red starter junker, but I also don't want to skip the first few missions of the game.

That's the thing, it's not showing up in the slot crafting list. Maybe I'm just missing something. I'll have to check it out after work. Thank you for the help. :)
Do you have freed up slots in your multi-tool? If you do, press x and they'll show up. If they don't try switching between the tabs in the crafting menu for multi-tool.

Wait until you've developed a hyperdrive and travelled to a new system, then redeem the dlc ship

You won't miss any missions and also don't really get much 'help' or cheats, at that point you're basically just getting a new skin and a bit more inventory space

you can't find crashed ships!? does anyone know why icon would show up in those cases?

For me it was showing up as a "?" point of interest. I first tried to find it on the surface until I was standing right over top of it and realized it had to be underground. Took me a little bit to find the cave entrance that lead to it. Definitely a holy shit moment for me when I realized you could literally find, repair, and acquire crashed ships!

You can redeem the ship without actually using it. Once you redeem the ship, you're given the option to "Leave the ship alone", which lets you continue on with your journey. You may have to COMPARE the ship before you get that option, but you definitely don't have to use it after redeeming it.

After you build your warp drive and travel to the next system, there's really no difference in the ships aside from slightly upgraded lasers and an extra inventory slot. If you've gotten that far, you're good to switch without missing out.

Anyone? How do I quit out of the game? Close application?

I traveled to the nearest planet to find a save point, just in case. After it saved, I just quit the application like I would any other game. I believe it also saves when you leave your ship in a space station. They call it a restore point, if I remember correctly.

Game keeps telling me to "activate hyperdrive," how? By warping? I did warp to another system but the message is still there.

Then redeem it after you complete the first few missions. I redeemed mine after I got the junker refueled.

I could have sworn I did a compare then leave alone, and it's still nagging me about having extra content every 20 seconds.

Yea the fact that you can pause leads me to believe there is no multiplayer what so ever, just single players with online elements (similar to a game with a leaders board)

Im willing to bet even in the ultra rare chance you are on the same planet as another real player, you are still in your own instance, and cant interact

By "nebulous talk" do you mean "Sean Murray's bizarre refusal to admit that you're never going to play with another person and the functionality for MP isn't in the game at all because why would they waste all that time and money creating MP capabilities when they'll never be used"?

Im willing to bet even in the ultra rare chance you are on the same planet as another real player, you are still in your own instance, and cant interact

that's the best case scenario. they really need to come out and definitively say "don't waste time trying to find other players because you won't be able to." a developer has NEVER been as wishy-washy when it comes to a potential core feature as they've been with NMS.
