OK so I have a question that contains early game spoilers,

So at the beggining when you pick to be guided or to freely explore, it seems to restrict where you can warp to. Does this keep throughout or will I eventually be free to go where I please?

Hmm did not know that!
I wondered why some star systems nearby I couldn't warp too!

On the Galactic map, press L1/R1 to go between guided mode and free exploration mode.

Guys, I'm considering getting this on Steam, but I need some help here.

I'm not much of a PC gamer and the technical side of it is mostly Greek to me. I have no idea how well this will run on my notebook. I don't mind lowering the resolution to 720p and setting graphics to medium quality. With this in mind, do you think I'll be able to run this on a i5 4210U 1.7 GHz CPU 6 GB GeForce 840M notebook?

Man tell me about it. The entitled gamer syndrome is in full effect over in that diseased thread.

Had a quick look just and they are now looking at how many people are playing NMS on steam to determine who is in the hello games office. Ready to hate because someone said they are probably in bed. But no they are working on the pc version at 1am it seems. I feel sorry the chaps!

Bro, I said it because impression I have gotten from Sean's twitter and AMA. Nothing to do with wanting to hate on devs.

My friend is fucked because he got the pre-order ship and than changed the system and got another ship but didnt get a hyperdrive nor the hyperdrive blueprint and he can't return to his previous ship with the hyperdrive installed.

How can we get a hyperdrive to get out of his system ?

Found a planet that had giant boulders of gold, spent 2 hours mining them, made close to 1mil credits *.* I had to force myself to stop playing, its way too late.

This game is really messing with my expectations. Found plenty of velociraptor-type animals that are docile, and then I keep finding deer and squirrels that want to kick the shit out of me

i didn't even know you could buy ships without hyperdrives...

For those that have gotten it on PS4 instead of PC are you satisfied? Or do you wish you would have waited?

I wish I'd waited. So much so that I gave my copy to a friend as an early birthday present and am just going to wait for the PC release.

The PS4 version is solid but solid isn't really enough for me at this point. The dips aren't frequent, but they're bad enough to make it irritating for me.

Dude I had a giant stegasaurus looking creature that was my best pal, fly to another planet and almost get killed by a fucking crab haha.

So here's the ultra twisty planet I found. I've got a few more interesting geographic locations I've stumbled across too but I don't want to flood the thread so I'll post those two later. In the meantime I need to see if I can find an anomoly again to get another screen of something I forgot to. Maybe GAF can explain what it is. It's.....strange.

I'm assuming you don't have a PS4, but yeah, you are going to have a hard time running this game with those specs, though to be fair no one really has any info on PC performance.

Well unfortunately this thread made me cave :(

If it turns out good enough I will end up getting the PC version eventually anyways.

Blessed with tons of flora and resources on my first planet. Got off planet pretty quick and hopped over to the next planet and it is just completely barren lol.

Inventory management is kinda a bitch right now. I did find a Exosuit upgrade for an extra block, hopefully will find more later.

Also, so happy on foot controls can be normal while the ship controls can be inverted.

So uh, I was just wondering what everybody's current impressions of this game are
I'm considering getting it and I really don't want to spend 60 dollars on a game I don't like. I've heard some people say on the internet that it's boring and there's really nothing to do. Is that true?

How were you moving between systems without warp drive?

I bought the antimatter, and preorder ship had drive.

Quick question: do modules stack or can I delete the lower one? For example, if I have a +2 for a scanner, can I delete the old one?

I didn't have a choice, but I can say that for the majority of my six hour session last night I was largely impressed with performance. The only glaring issue, I'd say, is the object/terrain draw-in. Things materialize into view when you're flying over the surface of a planet. But given the nature of the tech at work here, how can I fault that? These are entire fucking planets. They are MASSIVE.

I was expecting a shit show. It is not a shit show.

Ah I see.

I didn't redeem my pre order codes as I didn't want to ruin the experience for myself by making it easier at the start.

Turns out it was the correct decision considering the issues people have had with the content.

my friend is in the same situation and doesn't have the quest and no wardrive. help

Does he have the pre order bonuses redeemed?

Hey,

I've been playing for an hour. Just an hour. It unlocked at midnight and of course I started right away.

This game is already blowing my mind. The planet was rocky but it had a lot of plants and animals, it had giant roots or tentacles stretching up into the sky, out of view. I called it Halleluiah. I got my ship in order and left.

On arrival at my second planet, just my second, I encountered acid rain for the first time in search of a beacon. I have gone no further.

The beacon is inside a massive, massive building of some sort. It looks like terrain, I mean it could be terrain but it also looks like a man made giant pillar. The old kind you imagine in your dreams finding on Mars.

The beacon is inside. Has anyone come across something like this? I went all the way around it in search for an opening and there was nothing. There's a cave system underneath it.

I'm uploading a video right now but I thought I'd include you in the mystery too. I literally had to stop playing this game an hour in because I had to talk to people about it. My imagination is running wild.

I'm about to take my ship and fly on top of the giant building/plateau. It's too high to get there.

I'll let you know what I find.

The no system map stuff is really getting to me. It doesn't seem like the planets are orbiting stars, instead it seems like they just clumped up in an area with no logic behind how they behave. I get they wanted people to jump to different bodies, but this doesn't feel like the right solution.

Jesus Christ. This isn't about you, Fire, but the fact that the game is out now and people are STILL saying there's nothing to do is so idiotic.

Impressions - it's exactly what I wanted it to be and I'm super happy I stayed out of the spoiler thread and watched precious few videos of it prior to the game coming out. Because the constant surprises and discoveries you make and the rewards you get for certain tasks are addicting.

Watch a video from the opening until they warp for the first time. That should give you a general idea of what it is. Until it's not that anymore, that is.

yes but he already trade it for another ship with no hyperdrive

Thanks! Guess I'll have to wait until I get a new PC then.

For what it's worth I've got it on the ps4 instead of waiting on the PC version and I'm having a great time. Look at some videos and decide if the FOV is playable for you. That's the main thing. I've not experienced any noticeable frame rate issues in 6+ hours of playing so far.

yes but he already trade it for another ship with no hyperdrive

Oh god...

But seriously I still haven't redeemed my pre order code so I can give it to you but I don't know if you can stack them if you've already redeemed one? That way he can maybe get the original pre order ship back?

This game is overwhelming me a bit. I'm not sure after 5 hours if i've already seen all the game mechanics but i'm not sure either about what is yet to discover. So it feels like a huge time sink to me.

i have to say that i can't stand the super small inventory space.

Controversy and hot takes aside I have a couple of issues with the game. One is very annoying and the other isn't too bad.

The big issue for me is the FOV. I never get sick playing first person games but I had some pretty strong moments of nausea playing NMS. It seemed to get better after a couple of hours but it's still bothering me. I really wish I could fix that. I hope that FOV adjustment gets patched in very soon.

The lesser issue is that I am constantly being nagged to upload the data I've collected on animals.

Some of the inventory decisions also bother me. Starting me off with so few slots and then not allowing me to stack things like Fascination Beads, those sheets you can craft, etc? Bad decision.

I have a quest that's telling me to go to a space station, and I did and there was nothing to do for the quest lol

I left and then it popped back up again...
