You want to know the shitiest thing about the whole pre-order ship bug?

There is no true workaround from all it's issues (at least digitally)

I decided to start a new game (backed up my then current save online) to see how the game played without redeem the ship (which I did pretty early, like within the first 10 minutes) and did see the additional steps to becoming space bound...

Even if you don't redeem the ship, the CONSTANTLY nags you that you can redeem bonus content in the options menu. To the point which it actually disrupts the tutorial instructions and objectives from displaying...

I then thought "Stuff like this is usually enabled by downloading a small file that unlocks the ability to use the stuff" so I go check the related items section of NMS game tile on my PS4, sure enough "Alpha Vector Ship" appears installed under my Addon's...

So I deleted the game and redownloaded it... Now my previous experience with digital games and add-on content is that when I've gone to start the download for the game with owned DLC, upon hitting the download button it would show an additional screen that allows you to request to have addon's owned for that game to be downloaded along side the game itself (so you don't have to do it separately). With No Man's Sky, the additional screen doesn't appear and it downloads preorder bonus automatically (or it's tied to account) Either way there is no way to download the game without the addon ship that would NOT have the constantly nagging "You have bonus content to redeem" message from appearing
once you have access to hyperdrives, you've worked around it. You can then redeem the preorder ship whenever, if you really don't want to touch it deal with the nagging message until you see a ship you actually want to switch to, redeem first, then switch

The objective instructions will alternate with that (super annoying) message

Is there anyway to avoid the pirates? I've been pulled out of pulse drive and killed three times by them. Then I have to waste time going to my grave and picking everything back up. My ship is too small to put big guns on so it's just annoying.

Edit: I see I'm not the only one. Guess I have to sell everything before going off world.

PC version will have fov slider. PS4 is unlikely to get one because it struggles to run dense planets even at the fov it has now.

Yeah, I specifically meant PS4. I don't have a gaming PC so I'm stuck with that. Disagree that it struggles; the game is CPU-bound, which wouldn't be affected by a FOV change as the proc gen operates in a radius around the player. I've been on a dense planet and it was solid 30fps.

If you can buy a ship with a hyperdrive you're fine. I can't imagine restarting under your circumstances. Do you even see a single ship in space stations without one? It was all or nothing for me.

You have to understand if you couldn't craft one OR buy a ship, and couldn't find them, you're then stuck in your one single system, game over (until patch)

Interesting, what's the recipe?

Hmm shit... I guess I'll just keep going and see what happens :/

I am definitely enjoying the PS4 version enough to double dip on the PC version Friday. PS4 has just enough technical issues (frame hitches, crashes, and that ridiculously low FOV) to cause me to want to upgrade.

I seriously don't understand the hyperdrive quest.

I don't have the preorder ship. Supposedly you get the BP in your second planet. I have still yet to reach a 2nd planet, but I could craft an hyperdrive for my starter ship.

Turns out I lose the Hyperdrive blueprint even though I redeemed the ship AFTER I got it.
Oh shit, you're right. it's gone from my inventory after switching to the preorder ship. wack as hell

edit: heading back to space station to see if the ships have them

Great there's a giant clam isn't there? I'm doomed!

I found a planet with Gold deposits everywhere and this plant that had a really rare pearl within them (rather than shoot them you interact with them) The pearl is worth about 30,000 credits each. As soon as you take it from the plant the sentinels come after you in force. These plants were all over the planet. And each pearl would take up one slot in your inventory. I made sure I had 5 free slots in my exosuit and stole the pearls and just ran from the sentinels back to my ship. I found a landing platform I used as my base which had a trading terminal which I'd sell them at. I would then fly back out looking for more plants bunched together. I did this for about 6 hours straight and racked up 4 million credits. Which i used to buy a ship with way more slots and plenty of left over cash for exosuit and multi tool upgrades. I've still got about 1.7 million in the bank. I named the planet "goldmine". I dunno if the name is still there, I think I named it after the final server wipe.

Wait, is the Hyper Drive tab supposed to be blank if you have one installed already?

I hope I'm not bugged..I redeemed after I got the blueprint and I'm sure I can buy ships with hyper drives.

i'm so done with this game

Fuuuuuuuck this

Just had my 4th crash, but this time was during a jump so I just lost a warp cell

This fucking sucks.

I've been lucky enough to have Warp Cells loaded in when I get targeted, so I just jump to another system once I get the warning and before they show up.

How do I build a hyperdrive?

I abandoned my old ship on a moon because I found a better one, but I didn't realise it was lacking a hyperdrive before I flew off with it. I don't have any schematic for a hyperdrive and no way to find my old ship. What do I do? I was careful with the pre-order ship and didn't redeem it until I'd passed the tutorial stuff.

Use your star system scanner near each planet in your system until you find the incoming signal for the dude who has the hyperdrive recipe.

I already got the PC version coming too, but I Imagine the experience will vary greatly depending on specs.

Every ship I see available still DOES have a hyperdrive. I'm definitely not starting over.

My guess is that it doesn't matter, and as long as you have access to ships you can buy (or find) that do have hyperdrives, you never have to craft one again.

I have good enough specs that it'd have to be one of the worst ports it could possibly be to not run better than it does on PS4. So I'm not too worried. But yeah I imagine it'll vary more than the typical game given the generation aspect.

FWIW none of the ships I've seen in my system have hyperdrives, but I haven't completed the hyperdrive tutorial yet. Well, I've built a HD, and have antimatter, but I haven't figured out how to get a warp cell.

But y'all are making me nervous about switching to the Alpha Vector at any point. I just want to get rid of that damn message, really.

Yea, I hope as long as they have that stock Hyper Drive, we can go deep enough to get the better Hyper Drive blueprints/upgrades.

So I ended up following the gold as far as it would go. Suddenly, the side of the cave disappears, and I've clipped through the planet. I can see everything from below. I decide to hop through the missing cave wall, and I end up falling into a vast ocean under the planet. Now I'm slowing drowning.

That's my plan. I've filled 7 slots on my 24-slot suit. I need to unload it quick because I ran out of carbon, and my suit's at 25%.

I swear, this gold just keeps going! I found the bottom, but it just keeps going in every direction!

Get roaming for an on-planet terminal. May be too risky to go to space.

Oh. Bollocks.

for me it was like this, on the new save:

Go to space station, no ships have hyperdrives. Learn hyperdrive recipe and craft it on starter ship, all ships now have hyperdrives.

If you're not on the Alpha Vector yet and do have a hyperdrive, definitely make your first jump and check the space station there.

Warp cells need antimatter and thamium-9 that's it. It's craftable.

It's a trap! They got ya

The price of greed.

Thanks. Yeah the game is constantly nagging me to craft the warp cell, but I have no option to do that because (I'm guessing) I have no blueprint for a warp cell.

I don't think it does need a recipe. Have you crafted an electron vapor? If you need suspension fluid, you can buy it. If it's not asking you to craft those first, you should have the ability to craft it.
