I'm wondering how long until I get my V2 and V3 Atlas cards. I keep following the path but this game really drags the progression out.
Yeah I'm definitely starting to feel a little annoyed myself. I mean at the rate my current hyper drive is taking me, 300LY ish it's gonna take WEEKS to get to the center. There has to be something we are all missing here.

So I just did a quick test – sold some Heredium to a ship trader at a space station at 106% above galactic average. Then I looked at their buy price again and they were buying it for less than they were before, 98% percent above average. They left the station and came back, and their price was now below average.

So far we can conclude:
- traders each have their own buy/sell prices that are separate from the system trading panels
- these prices fluctuate as they go on their trading routes
- selling (and probably buying) from a trader influences their future prices for those items

I didn't notice selling or buying from the panels affected prices, but then my current abilities to trade are paltry at best, so my transactions may have negligible impact on the system's prices vs. individual traders

So after 5 hours of not knowing what I'm doing, being harassed on my starter planets by heat and vicious attacking monsters, I started a new game and I'm now in a place that can only be described as peaceful and beautiful as opposed to the grimey wasteland I first arrived in, I'm going to fully plunder and discover this starting zone and give this game a fairer shot now.

I feel like ships should have a "trade-in" value when you buy a new one. Without it, continuing to buy exosuit space is the better bang for the buck. I don't want to drop 4 million for an 8 space advantage over my previous ship when 8 exosuit spaces is another 2-2.5 million.

I don't even have an Atlas destination anymore and I'm not sure I'll even be able to receive another now. If I do though, I won't be able to take anymore black holes or I'll be locked out. Honestly the strange way progression is gated is frankly rather annoying. Even the black holes don't actually seem to be doing anything and I'm still 170k from the core. I don't really even know what path to take now since reaching the center this way will take forever so I'm just bouncing around hoping for another space anomaly now.

I don't buy that. Prior to having the black hole marked on the galactic map, you're asked a question w three choices. The option to place a black hole in the galactic map is titled something like ' accept a short cut to the centre' or something. So clearly black holes are meant to bring you closer. And when you go through, the distance it says you travel when you come out doesn't equate to the actual distance you appear to have gone. It honestly makes no sense.

you arent placing one, he's telling you were it is. Go to free exploration and look for the planet thing to simply say "black hole" to find one on your own.

It's such a small detail, but when you're inside a ship on a planet, just chilling out and it's raining outside and the wind is beating all around, I love the sound effects it makes on the ship and how cosy everything feels, really class.

Yeah absolutely. You playing w headphones? Do that. It's even more pronounced.

So I'm about 160k light years away from the center. I've seen 4 space anomalies and all of the Atlas interfaces. What do I do now? Just keep heading to the center? I feel like I've run out of a clear goal aside from "just keep jumping and building warp cells".

Like, don't spoil the center for me, but how are you actually supposed to get there? I feel like I'm missing something. There's no way I'll ever make it there at this pace, I can't even get my cursor there on the galaxy map.

I'm having fun with the game but I don't see myself playing it for much longer...just gonna leave this here for a laugh...

Wow ... there are no words...

Well, maybe some words:)

First of all "Sean Murphy"? And he's quitting the game after already going through it once and then going through a second time. Well, it must have been compelling enough for him to trundle through it a second time!

I can't tell if his whole deal is a stick or if that's really him; but if that's really him ... just wow...

With the suit, you'll find drop pods on planets w suit upgrades in them. One planet I discovered to day I found four of them in close proximity.

I wonder if I'll ever actually clear a whole planet.

What about the ship? Are those empty spaces just locked forever? I downgraded to a new ship woth 1 less slot because it looked cooler and i was tired of my starter ship :(

We should name our ships.

It's going to take a lot to get me to switch ships. I'm trying to upgrade my warp drive instead.

Do certain ships provide a warping benefit or is that exclusively the department of upgrades?

Thats a joke character, watch boogie's real first impressions.

He liked it.

Francis is Boogie's joke character.

I think I'm missing some of these blueprints that I've picked up. Really weird, cuz I found that underwater breathing one and I went to check the upgrade requirements a few mins later and now it's not in the list.

I've been farming a planet that is rich with Graviton Balls. I just run around using the melee and boost method, the sentinels can't really keep up with me. Fill my ship and suit up, go the space station and wait for the ship that I know will pay +%104 for them and make about 1.4 million in a run.

Anyone have tips on dealing with multiple enemy ships?

I got absolutely fucking mauled by 4-5 pirate ships. All constantly circling me, firing with near 100% accuracy. I couldn't keep up with the rotation and charging shields in inventory is a clusterfuck.

Restarted my game for a second time (out of fear of losing my ship and being out a hyperdrive), this time doing the tutorial and approaching the game with, uh, tempered expectations, and I'm enjoying it a bit more.

It helps that my starter planet this time was actually cool, and not a shitty super poisonous world with nothing but lousy little brain crabs.

From a moon not far from my starting point.

Thats's a good looking landscape. Might end up using one as a wallpaper one day.

That post mentions all the big ticket technical items I think, cool

streaming now, in desperate need of copper to make my next jump. If anyone knows where I can find copper. plz halp.

Btw asteroid fields around planet orbits are a great source of Iridium, Nickel, and Iron, for sure. Especially iridium.

come chill, hopefully won't be too long before I can warp :P

All the tiny asteroids are an amazing source for Thanium9 too I've found.

Found my first extreme hot planet (well moon actually) plus it had storms that brought the temperature up to 305. Fun stuff! It does seem to have an abundance of exotic materials, though.

Why cant I 100% any planet? I get every other creature and there is always one left and I can never find the last one. No matter how many hours I spend. I find the rest if them super fast and get stuck on the last one. I get all the fish, all the birds. I go in every cave. Nothing. Im thinking its bugged. Its infuriating.

The same thing happened to me. I got a warp reactor theta upgrade and when I went to the inventory, it was gone.

The only copper I've found this far is from asteroids. 95% sure of it.

I have been so lucky on this front. 15 hours and not a single crash or glitch that Im aware of

You may get lucky and hit up a planet riddled with floating copper rocks. I did earlier today. not a single thing on said planet except for copper
and I just did when making a pitstop for fuel. this is sweet!

We’re tracking a number of issues, bugs and crashes that players are reporting, and working to resolve as soon as possible.

The number of people players, and length of average play session, has been far more than our small team could have anticipated. That said, we’re working quickly to adapt.

We sincerely apologise to anyone affected in the meantime.

Here are some things to be aware of:

  • We’ve brought a new QA team on board today (larger than the entire Hello Games team!). This will complement the existing Sony QA team.
  • We are working on fixes for the most critical issues, which will be in a patch in the near future.
  • We will be moving to a ticketed support system next week, and have hired someone to manage this starting Monday.
  • Some information will be posted in the Sony forums here

I don't quite understand this. Didn't Sean have the info on how many pre-orders there were? I assume Sony must've had some sales projections for day-1 purchases as well.

Interesting, so they have been relying on Sony's QA up until now. I had a feeling they didn't have their own QA staff; things like the pre-order bug would have been caught fairly quickly otherwise. But there's some missing story about why Sony didn't catch these kinds of bugs. Regardless, it's good to see Hello taking these bugs and crashes seriously. As I said earlier, I don't envy Sean & team right now, as they have a lot of bugs and crashes to fix, some of which might be very hard to debug.

Eh?

Games sale much better than projections all the time.

Bought it. Played an hour and a half and love it. Nice and relaxing so far. Just left my starting planet which was nice looking and grassy and have arrived at a space station.

This game....wow! I haven't had so much fun doing absolutely nothing in such a long time!

I'm still on my starting world, walking around enjoying the sites. I don't want to leave until I 100% it though - scanning those stupid bird/bat things was a royal pain, but I finally got it, so I'm stuck on one more...ugh. I've played 15 hours or so looking for this damn thing...walking...until i realized i can fly around. oops. I did manage to learn a whole crapload of alien words, and have 21 exo-suit slots, so that's a plus i guess.

I did find a broken statue head of a giant pokemon at a ruin though..wonder what else i can turn up!

oh well..back to doing nothing!

edit: oooh...I just remembered that I had a question - I see these small white circles every once in a while..are these places I've been told about but not discovered or something?

no ones actually gotten to the center, right? Like, on a normal day one run? Did the guy on the last page just do the route which everyone is confusing with the center?
