I don't understand people still taking games on Steam when it's available DRM-free with reductions on other platforms.

Anyway, it's time to play

Might depend on what path you are on, but I wouldn't spend a lot of time deliberately seeking out drop pods. After Atlas V1 there is little reason to actively search for them.

I lucked up and found a planet that had one every few miles, and got ~6 or so upgrades in a relatively short amount of time, but on typical planets they take time away from finding other things.
This is kinda subjective depending on what your goals are. As you noted you can seriously expand your inventory by multiple rows in under an hour if you have the right planet and focus on it, and in the early game even a few slots can make an enormous difference in your quality of life. Also, some people might want to get into serious trading in their early systems or whatever and not even really worry about other things, and they'll want to seek out as many pods as possible before even reaching the first

He's just kidding around lol. The downloads have begun.

"ProfanityFilter_x64_v120.dll" in the game directory kind of made me chuckle xD.

Also, now that the game is out on pc someone will make a unpacker for the .pak files and we might know soon what kind of creatures there are in the game.

Awesome ship! That's the one on the Cover of the game I think. I have one very much like it but red and with a tiny wing on each side.
I love the one I bought last night so much

well, that was interesting.

i'm not normally much for farming, but I found a planet that was just irresistible. It had thousands of those convergence cube things scattered through caves. No environment threat. I found a nearby surface trading depot by a cave with a vendor bot, and basically just made 4-5 cube runs - and quickly racked up 2 million units.

there were so many cube instances that the game actually was glitching pretty bad in terms of having them disappear. It seems like ones I had already picked up would be visible until you got close to them. A pretty bad bug, but I was making so much bank I kind of didn't care.

now time to sit my ass in the space station and wait for my new ride to show up.

It is extremely subjective and personal what you would like to do in the game, but I think there are quite a few pitfalls into endless frustration if your playstyle falls into a few different categories early on.

Like, there is a time and a place to branch out and I realize there is a huge urge to do so off the bat, but I did so on my first save and didn't on my second and it has made all the difference in how I'm enjoying the game.

omg this ship is sooo nice!

how much did it cost?
About 1.3 mil. Sadly doesn't have a great hyperdrive or as much space as I wanted and the inventory layout isn't ideal, but it has a bunch of combat tech installed already, which is what I'm going for, and I just loved the look of it. Was able to step my combat game way up immediately, and I have some even better tech to craft when I set out for it.

Gonna be my baby on PS4, but the vast majority of my playtime here on out will be PC. I may never make it to the center on PS4 and I'm totally cool with that.

Ha, I did the exact same thing 2 days ago. Named the planet Vortexcube so everyone who visits knows what's up. Stopped myself at about 2.5m and bought a 25 slot spaceship.

But then two star systems later I found a space station that was buying the vortex cubes for like 80% more, so I went back (finding the previous systems was a pain in the ass in itself) and made another round trip. The bonus wasn't worth the 2 star system journey, though.

Decided to call it a day been playing the game and really enjoying it. Sadly the game seems to have decided to start crashing ALOT and it has gotten to the point whre i simply cannot be arsed to constantly be losing sometimes upwards to 15mins of playtime, i get alot done in that ammount of time and having to do it over is tedious as hell.

PC players, make sure you turn off the 30fps lock.

I forgot how to downsample in games, how do I enable it?

*welp alt tabbing is a no no lol...

If you are on Nvidia you go into the game settings in the GeForce experience and select the resolution you want in the downsampling drop down. That will let you pick that resolution in the game

Not sure how else to do it

Last night I landed on a planet where all the animals had no arms or legs. They'd just bounce around. And it wasn't just limited to a single species, other than the fish, every species were just bouncy things. It was pretty hilarious lol

I found a planet with one bouncy species, a whole ecosystem of them sounds amazing.

Shit dude I'm already so lost. I have no idea how to craft lol.

Put your cursor over a blank spot in your inventory and press Square (PS4 controller)

On any open slot in your inventory,

Hit Square to craft a product
Hit X to install a technology

Your exosuit and ship inventories, any slot can house anything. Your multitool inventory can only house Multitool upgrades.

I've heard zooming in with R3 while the visor is up (L2) help a bit

I bet is literally impossible if you don't do that haha. Maybe the shape of the place where I stood on wasn't the ideal spot. I'll try again.

I could scan a bird in another planet without doing anything fancy but after that it's been a pain in the ass.
