Uhh, a planet in the system I started out in (and indeed, I am still in - I haven't left yet) is saying that it was discovered by another player. Is this a glitch, because the odds on it actually being another person are way out there, surely?
On PC or PS4? There have been a few instances of this on PS4 already, would be nuts if on PC, must have started you guys like riiiight next to each other.

On the PS4, you hold in the right stick over the item. You can transfer items from your suit to your ship if you don't want to discard (and you have the space).
If you are not activly gathering toi make a blueprint just sell it. The only thing you should keep stocked is energy for lifesupport and launch thrusters.
Find a place where you can summon your ship. Some outpost have these beacons and you can summon it to every POI with a landing spot. Just walk around using the jetpack method shouldn't take too long.
Try to find a outpost somewhere. Many of them will have a beacon thing outside which you can summon your ship to. You just need to build one of those bypass chips to use it.

Speaking of which, Sean once mentioned you should be able to name ships (they were to show up as discoveries themselves), this feature isn't in yet, right?

If in the discoveries/options menu it says you're offline with a red circle, it's not going to work. It works great when green/connected, that is just barely ever the case since launch for a lot of people.

If it helps some of us PC gamers sleep at night over the NMS performances, you could always play my PS4 digital copy of Just Cause 3. I can suffer through low performance but not sub-10 fps.
I've discovered that it's easier to find drop pods by just flying around and oggling the landscape. Due to the pop-in, they often materialize before their immediate surroundings. XD
I finally reached 40 slots for my Exosuit, now that was some engaging gameplay...shooting metallic rocks = fun. Now to focus on upgrading a new ship's toughness and combat readiness.
What the hell are the Distress Signals(!) in space and what are you supposed to do with them? Every time I get close to one it just starts bouncing all over the current star system.
Starting to have quite a bit of appreciation for the random NPC interactions.
I haven't learned many Gek words (or many words at all, not seeking them out on this character), so this was kinda cool:
got no helpful information out of what the Gek said to me in his language except the word "despair," but the description of the situation indicated the dude was pointing toward his life support system, and the choice was of different element types to give him.
Since in-game I know that you use isotopes to recharge your suit life support I just used my general space-savvy to get this right despite the language barrier, and got a nice pulse drive upgrade as thanks.
Little by little I'm coming to understand exactly what it is Sean and HG made here. All of the comparisons to other games thus far have been largely unsatisfying to me.
No Man's Sky is a paperback Choose Your Own Adventure sci-fi novel translated into a 2016-era videogame.
You'll note that you are unable to delete your actual pulse drive. The upgrade component upgrades it, and if you put them next to one another (if the ship's inventory allows for it) you'll get a bonus.
Okay, so I had a hell of a time with a space pirate last night. Hitting enemy fighters is so difficult. Is that just the way it is or is there some special targeting upgrade I can build for my ship?
What's the best way to get a new ship? I can't afford to buy any and all the ones I'm finding on planets only have one more slot. Do they get better further in towards the center?
How much money do you have? I was able to find my first upgrade for 250K-300K units. If you've found a world with decent resources, it shouldn't be too hard to build up that much for the first go. Just park your ass at a space station or an outpost with landing pads and query each of the pilots as they come in. Within 10-15 minutes you should see ships with prices ranging anywhere from 250K to millions.

Unless your photon cannons are super upgraded, use the phase beam to target fighters. It will lock on as long as your crosshair is nearby. You can play with the trigger to learn how to pulse it to avoid the cooldown.

Yup, seems like all upgrades stack throughout the game- however they take up an inventory slot. It's a balance between how much power you want to get out of your systems vs. how much space you have for trade and crafting.

I was thinking more for the multi-tool, but good to know, Right now I keep getting wrecked by pirates and haven't found worthwhile upgrades for the ship yet. Did find a planet with Mountians of Emeril though.
1) Bottom right of the HUD, to the left of the spring and jetpack icon - what is the red shield like icon mean?
2) I found a like mini launchpads with a dude inside that gave me something. How can you actually land on the launchpad? I had to land off to the side and jetpack my way up.
Performance/stutter issues. Terrible FOV (even at 100). And well, it just seems lacking right now.
I'm going to finally learn to play Elite Dangerous. That seems like the better idea at this point (especially since I have an Oculus Rift and X52 Pro).
Shortly after I found another outpost with a Gek miner... lol...
This one I could understand a tiny bit, and the words "give" and "oxide" appeared in sequence, so this should have been a pretty simple one. Apparently as I started talking to him he emitted a scent that filled me with nostalgia.
But from the choices, it appeared he wanted Titanium and quite a bit... which I didn't have. I elected to give him credits hoping for a lesser reward... and this offended him, the scent he was emitting turned foul and my standing with the race decreased.

Ah yeah, multitool can't store stuff so feel free to stack whatever you care about most.
My multitool on PS4 sucks ass and has barely any slots, I've got some cool tech to try too... but whatever, not emphasizing it. On PC imma need a beast multitool ASAP.
And although No Mans Sky is teeming with virtual life, making most discoveries feels like leaving a First! at the top of a comment thread: You may have been there before anyone else, but no one knows or cares.
Since we will have a bunch of new players with the PC release: Do not horde the following ressources. They are everywhere and easily obtainable if you need them: Iron, Carbon, Plutonium.
Don't waste storage space and your time until you have a better suit.
Stopped just shy of the 2 hour mark. Gonna have to ponder this a bit to see if I want to steam refund it or not.
I'm currently enjoying it, but I can already see how hollow it is and think I'll burn out on it pretty quick. I'm also pretty bummed by how weak the space ship stuff is, this really is a first person walking game, the space ship is just a fancy load screen between planets.
