Maybe it's a stupid question, just got the game on PC.

I've left my first planet and want to fly to another planet or space station.
The nearest station/planet is 6 minutes away, even when I press B to gain speed. Am I doing something wrong or do I really have to fly 6 minutes in one direction?

Don't know what the PC buttons are, but you can activate your Pulse Drives, provided they have fuel. This will get you there in a few seconds.

It's R1+L1 on PS4, if that helps.

I tried doing that as well, and the pop up kept happening. I ended up just redeeming the ship just to stop the incessant pop ups.
same, then it caused me to have to reload my save!

that is a """"bonus""""

It is actually relatively few cases where it's a showstopper though. if you can buy ships with hyperdrives you have nothing to worry about.

Alright, just finished all the planets in my starting system and I'm confused about planet completion. I have 100% on 3 out 4 planets, the 4th planet is at 93% but all the question marks are filled in. If this isn't a bug, what else is factored into the planet completion?

Edit: nvm hitting X on the screen made it go to 100%, odd that I didn't have to do that before

glitch gave me a new ship (with my old ship's inventory)

found a crashed ship on my starter planet and decided to take it but then had second thoughts and loaded my previous save...when it loaded it still gave me the new ship but it had all of my inventory from my starter one (and none of the extras from the crashed one)

wasn't trying to cheat the system or anything...guess I can just call it a new starter ship then

---

to be clear the glitch didn't give me any extra slots or upgrades...just the new ship

Pulse Jump; the little asteroids that are everywhere between planets are its fuel.

Was 'working from home' today which meant lots of time playing the game some more.

Still really enjoying myself, must have put in at least 15-20 hours so far.

I haven't been spending too much time on each planet since I got my atlas pass v1 so I tend to get enough resources to make warp cells and then go to a new system to get the suit upgrade from the space stations. Have 31 slots now since I made a tonne of money from resources but I have now nearly run out so I need to start gathering more rare resources to make some money back.

I did however decide to scan every creature for a planet since I hadn't bothered to yet. Flying creatures can be damn annoying, sometimes feels impossible to shoot down so I cam scan them. Ended up losing a flock as I was getting attacked by an aggressive ground animal so had to spend ages looking for them again. Also my last one took ages to find but ended up finding it in a body of water.

Otherwise I'm just being a good atlas follower and working my way from atlas station to station. Not sure when I will start going towards the centre since I font know when to stop going for the atlas.

Thanks guys, the game never told me that ;) It seems I have a bug with the messages, the game is telling me the holw time "Waiting for jetpack to refuel" even in space.

Ok, how do I access a map? How do I set waypoints? Specifically I'd like to see a planetary map. I'm still early in the game but I found the first place to sell stuff in my star system, it's an outpost on a planet. What I want to do is wander around this planet, find valuables then come back and sell them then repeat.

Problem is, how do I find my way back to this outpost? Can I set a waypoint? Is there a way to access a planetary map?

Loving this game so far, despite it's flaws (the inventory system is the only part that really bugs me.

Bought the game on Steam and got my ship into space. Does the loop change much from what you do in the intro? Or is it just that over and over again until you get to the center of the galaxy? Wasn't really into the intro so I'd like to know if it changes much.

Hit the jackpot with my latest planet. Absolutely perfect conditions and towers of gold everywhere. Last one had over 2000 units. I'm rich, biatch!

There is no planetary map, but if you scan the outpost icon with your visor it will stay on your compass and screen.

Sometimes they will just get happy and follow you around, seemingly no limit from what I saw. I forgot to check if I got into a fight with something else if it would help me; just been killing everything on this playthrough

All of the animals I've encountered and fed have only led me places, I haven't seen them do anything. Though, I don't usually concern myself with them. However, I was scanning some of the local fauna on a planet last night, when I saw a parent and child wandering in a field. The child was much closer than the parent, so I approached to get a better view. The parent seemed to hate this and charged at me.

It actually startled me, because I wasn't expecting to get attacked! For reference, I had been much closer to other adults on the planet, but they didn't have children near them.

I don't know if this is a thing, or was just a coincidence.

After you redeem it, you can choose to decline it. I assume it'll go away afterwards, but I chose the pre-order ship after using my starter ship.

Tried that and didn't work, finally I traded it thinking that I could swap ships again afterwards but no, my ship dissapeared forever and I ended up stuck with the dlc one... I was so sad... then I learned that you can go back to previous save states but it was too late. -_-

Now I'm hunting the galaxy to find my old good awesome ship back. (of course I already got rid of the dlc crappy ship).

Came across my third space anomaly. Having chose the short cut the first time, resources the second I chose to resume the Atlas path if only so I can actually see an Atlas station. I doubt I will follow it until the end.

I'm close to maxing out my Exosuit (have 34 of the 48 slots), installed upgrades that give me extra Extreme Heat/Cold and Radiation protection, upgraded my warp drive, and bought a multitool with 14 slots. Needless to say, I'm loving this game.

Launcher? Homing grenade?

HOW?!?!
Sorry, I thought they were fairly common recipes. The basic plasma launcher recipe lets you turn the multitool into a grenade launcher, which can also be used to dig through ground the mining laser otherwise won't. Then the homing grenade recipe is fairly self-explanatory - it homes on nearest object to where you're aiming, including animals, sentinels, etc. Even the lvl 1 grenade is enough to take out the basic flying sentinel. You can take sentinels out so quickly, they never have a chance to call for reinforcements.

I've also seen a homing recipe for the boltcaster.

Two hours in. Enjoying it very much, but the performance could definitely use a boost.

FYI: a few pages back someone mentioned that the game didn't like alt-tabbing. Not sure if anyone's said anything else about it, but I alt-tabbed out and it wouldn't let me back in. I just clicked "Play" again on Steam and it acted like it was going to launch another instance, but then loaded up the minimized screen.

I have no idea but sometimes you scan animals that seems to be new but they're actually a different version or sex of an already discovered specie, maybe the game also counts that but doesn't show.

Space Police is coming for ya

I hit a point last night where I'm starting to feel burnt out. I've been to 2 atlas interfaces and 2 anomalies.

My warp drive is fully fueled, at this point should I just warp ahead as many systems as I can and not even bother exploring until I need more resources?

you can scan planets from space from some distance depending on your scanner upgrades. I'm not sure but I wonder if the waypoints you get from doing this have a better chance of being something good.

It's not because you scanned the freighter, it's just because you scanned while in space.

Ah-hah, that makes more sense. It never seemed like I was close enough to a planet/moon to find anything.

After upgrade slots for your suit I'd say cooling upgrades for your mining beam are a must. I melt gold/nickel/emeril pillars like butter.

Yes. Ive ditched all the boltcaster attachments. My multi-tool currently has 14 slots.

+3 and +4 combat amplifier to mining laser.
+3 and +2 cooling system.
+3 and +2 beam intensifier for quicker mining.

I also have the plasma grenade launcher with intensified damage.

I find this melts mineral deposits like butter and the grenade gets me quickly into the locked command centre thing.

It's also good for digging a big hole under the tougher sentinels.

Why are people going nuts on the creator? Not extremely informed on the game beyond the infinite exploration. What the hell is setting people off?

Do the creatures actually have any interesting behavior or interaction with the player?

The game is definitely turning into more of a slog than I expected.

I wouldn't expect much when you get to the centre TBH - I think the game is meant to be pretty open ended. Just stop when you get bored. You can always pick it up again when you feel like it or they update something.

You can set a waypoint by hitting L2 to "scan" a point of interest such as a building.

Demostrating this, I found this building and held L2:

See the white dot on my compass next to my ship icon.

It does persist at least out into space, don't know beyond that.

You can have more than one at a time (at least three), but they look the same.

To clear a waypoint, physically go to it and scan with L3 (not by holding L2 again) They're not that obtrusive though (just a while dot).

finally am able to play it. its absolutely insanely big. i love the colors and artstyle. yeah cause of the procedual tech behind it, it looks lowpoly. but wow. it feels like the old sci fi books/comics

He promised them a dream come true and kicked them in the face instead. That's literally what happened.

Probably.

People are jerks.

Not much. You can feed them and they give you stuff or point out useful resources. I think a more 'pet' type dynamic is coming in an update.

PC users...what are you doing for controls?

Keyboard and mouse feels great while on foot, but jump into a ship and it's a bad feeling. Anyone swapping from keyboard to controller easily?

Have issues finding all specimen of a planet. Got 12 of 14. Planet has small lakes, but only 1 of 30 was populated with fish. Took me another 4 hours to find a lake with fish in it and those weren't even the same. Going to leave the planet after 14 hours without 100%. Shame.

Not sure if I did something wrong or if I just got a bad spawn but I started the game last night and the herdium resource I needed to repair my ships engines was 10+ minutes away from where my ship was. I had to walk there and back on a fairly barren planet, was pretty boring... gonna give it another shot tonight now that I have my ship but kind of thinking this might not be my kind of game.

Yeah, I got that much. I was just hoping I would get pretty far with my equipment upgrades before things started to bore me.

I mean, eventually that's what most people are going to do. I assume that literally nobody has time to go one by one.

I see a lot of people complaining about sentinels. You kill the one or two flying ones near you before they can radio for help and you're fine. Mining beam is enough to melt them fairly easily. They drop good shit too.

Yeah, I was on a graviton ball planet and quite happy for the frenzied Sentinels to come at me. Extra stuff :p

Well, I was one of the people who double dipped, but I just requested a Steam refund. The game simply doesn't run well at all. It may get a lot better with patches and optimization, but right now this is one of the very rare games that I think is better to buy on console rather than on PC if you have both.

I don't have a very powerful PC, but it is above the recommended specs. And it just doesn't run well no matter how much I play with the settings. It gets BETTER, but it still just isn't smooth. Lots of random stutters. I have a friend who has a 1070, and he said that he is having issues as well, but he is going to keep it since he doesn't have a PS4.

Oh well, back to playing the PS4 version, which is perfectly fine. Hopefully they will add in the ability to change FOV and disable the HUD later.

So far I've landed on probably 10 planets and so far none of them have been pretty in the classical sense. But I love how alien they all feel. It's been great so far

Took about a dozen or so planets before I found one that looked very lush and interesting. Everything til that point had mostly been rocky and mountainous.

There are a few of these "forbidden" resources:

Not really spoilers but just in case anyone wants to be surprised when you pick one up
Gravitino Orbs
Vortex Cubes
Venom Sacs

If you find one of the planets dotted with them and can make a quick run with a decent inventory to and from the space station, it's pretty damn awesome; an on-planet trading post may or may not be more efficient depending on what the station is paying for them. Just watch out as the valuable cargo will attract pirates en route to the space station. I think the more you have the bigger the force, I've even been hit by groups of 6. Generally you're safe to make it back to your grave and make the return trip again unless you get really unlucky.

I am gonna miss this system... so much.
Yeah, I'm too lazy to keep jumping in and out of space. 26,000CU/unit is perfectly fine by me lol.

Got the Hyperdrive but I can't craft the fuel I need because I can't craft Antimatter?

Game tells me to go to an outpost because of communications..

It directs me to a planet that is 90 percent water, and the outpost is underwater... ok whatever, go there.. nothing, icon goes away

repeat x2
