So is the recommendation to start over if the preorder ship is chosen before acquiring the hyperdrive blueprint? I'm not too far along to where it would be a disaster to restart.

I've seen a number of people do exactly that (start over). They were all on their beginning planet or within their first system anyway so it wasn't a huge loss.

Had a streak of like three planets that had nearly nothing in them besides minerals, alloys, and stations.
Then one that was rock islands, water, and acid rain.
I need some damn animals for a change.

Its pay day

probably the "Vag" in extraVAGanza

yeah, I thought so too. I wonder if it's blocking it, because it doesn't know "extravaganza" as a word or if it's gonna block things like "vague" and "vaguely" as well. went with "Matt Damon" instead, so if you find yourself in the Matt Damon galaxy, there's a planet that has only vortex cubes and exosuit upgrade pods! :D

"Shinigami" is apparently a bad word.... i dont know why lol.

Shi***ami

Couldn't help it and gave the new ship a shot. Committed my first successful act of solo piracy on a freighter. Guy was hauling stacks of 500 materials and neutrino modules. Bank. Wasn't confident enough to go past 2 stars with the sentinels yet but one day.

REALLY gotta put PS4 on hold now.

just curious btw, how many others out there have found this alloy recipe:

It's so nice, have used it for quick units in a pinch a few times now.

Just found that alloy recipe.

/whispering

what the holy fuck is happening in the other NMS threads, I feel like i'm taking crazy pills

it is fascinating, the reaction this game has generated... I've never seen anything quite like it

I do commiserate with folks having PC issues. that blows. exactly the kind of thing that makes me hold off on a gaming PC. you spend all that money and it might still be a bad show. I fucking loved Batman too (played on PS4), as another poster child for terrible PC versions. I sort of get why those guys freak when stuff runs badly or inconsistently, but at the same time.. each PC is a frankenstein, it's the reason we have consoles in the first place. anyways.

Duping is making this game much more bearable. Now I just need to farm for things I need instead of worrying about making money.

Been on the fence about this one all afternoon while working. Without too many spoilers, how's the mid-late game content once you start getting towards the center? Is it any different than what you're doing in the first few hours?

Is there a place to stash upgrades and shit that I want to keep but don't want taking up inventory space? I keep getting these multi tool and ship upgrades and it's like yeah that's nice, never will have room for that anywhere. lol

They dont take up space until you craft them. Just dont craft em all lol

Oh, I have a question that I just remembered.

When you're upgrading stuff, like for example your mining tool's beam, do you want to put 1, 2, 3, and 4 all next to each other or do you only need to put the highest you have?

So say I have Reload Increase Sigma 1 and 2, do I just need to put 2 there or do I get a boot by having 1 AND 2? Do they stack, making them equivalently 3? So theoretically if you have 1, 2, 3 and 4 you'd basically have Sigma 10?

The easiest, quick and dirty way is this:

1. Share the Share burron, then press Options and go to sharing settings.

2. Go to Screenshot Settings, and switch Image Format to PNG (this just makes them a little higher quality)

3. Exit the options menu. Press the Share button again when you want to take a screenshot, and upload to either Twitter or Facebook. If you've never set it up you'll have to log in.

Then whenever you want to take one you can just hit share and upload.

Oh sweet, thank you!!!

Any hints on where to find copper? I have found zero in the game so far. Is it something you get from asteroids?

If you come across a planet with large floating rock formations that can be mined, then it'll probably have a Neutral element in it. Nickel, Aluminum, and Copper have been the most common for me.

Nope. The game doesn't abide hoarders
(much to my chagrin lol)

I really don't like how little control I have over my ship when I start nearing a planet's surface. I feel like the game wants me to fly back up. I want to be able to hover and look what's below. Are there ships that allow hovering or something?

Anyone know how i can find recent discoveries on a planet im on where i found it and named it. I had a few spots i couldn't do because i had no slots or money and i want to get back to them.

What's the duping process? I haven't really looked into it too much.

1. Load up ship inventory half full with items you want to dupe.
2. Fly to a space station.
3. Land so it triggers an auto save.
4. Fly out and die. Easiest way is to shoot at the cargo ships and have them kill you.
5. When you respawn, reload previous save (not current save).
6. Fly out to your grave which is still there even though you reloaded a save that was from before you died.
7. You now have duped all your items.
8. Fly back to space station, land, and offload half your items.
9. Get in ship and get out again to trigger auto save.
10. Repeat from step 4.

You guys have any tips for fighting space pirates? Maybe i'm just terrible, but I've been getting wrecked and haven't even be able to kill one yet.

Also, is there a way to set markers on a planet? I flew by two drop pods, but didn't have enough money for the upgrades, and by the time I did, I couldn't find them again :(

Easier way to do it is on foot at a trader spot on a chill planet. Even with a somewhat upgraded ship and suit inventory you will be getting like 800k every 5 minute if you stack up on rare items

DGAF taught me how to exploit every game.

Carry lots of supplies to repair your shields mid battle.

Mining laser on the ship > cannon for me. If you focus on enhancing that you can have a slower ship but kick their ass.

I played the game for few hours, started exploring a toxic planet that has some extreme weather and storms, i can barely stay outside for 30 seconds before my resistances run out and i'm over 10 minutes away from my ship at this point, it has been super fun to run from cave to cave while storms are raging on the surface of the planet.

Selling some weird purple material I bought 30 of at one vendor and I'm pulling 1.4 million every trip.

use the phase beam, upgrade the impact and cooldown mods if you can. makes a big diff. the photon cannon has too much lead and is actually better for mining. I disable all cannon mods and go with pure beam for fighting ships. it auto locks on when fired, even at a far range and will roast dudes with 4-5 shots even with sigma upgrades.

in the middle of the fight you can pop the inventory and refill the deflector. keep a full icon of iron or better, shielding shards/sheets for this purpose.

make sure you aren't flying slow or backwards ;)
