On another note, I hope they add land speeders or something. I would explore way more of a planet if I could move quicker. And flying doesn't let you get low enough.

I doubt that would happen. The procedural generation wouldn't be able to keep up with generating a ground level of detail if you could go as fast as a ship, at least not on PS4. I could see a rover that can travel at run speed or a bit faster being possible though.

I'm only 4 hours in, but apparently your ship is deleted (with all its contents) when you find a new ship.

I lost all my things and now I'm wondering if it's worth starting over? Not sure if I lost vital quest items or anything.

Or can I obtain everything again?

When i traded ship mine stayed there labelled as abandoned, although it likely disappears when you fly off in your new one.

Okay getting the extreme survival gold might be more of a pain in the ass then the 100% happiness one in FO4. Apparently you can't leave the planet, can't die, and it takes 8 hours.

So if you leave... yep another 8 hours needs to happen.

Yup. Took me days until I found another planet with Extreme conditions. Now that I found one I'm not leaving until I get the trophy. I've been chilling inside a shelter for the past 2 hours.

Just found my first "Lush" planet! Tons of vegetation, animals, and no environmental hazards except for thunderstorms. I don't know if I will leave it for a long time.

I wonder if you can leave the game (no deaths, just shut it down). Speaking of which is there any legitimate way to log out of the game?

Also to confirm, did it take longer for it to increase since you have to beat your last time in sols for the previous planet?

Jeez this game gets really dark sometimes in the 'lore'.

every once in a while i read something that makes me think that depending on the path you choose, you're the bad guys

specifically
text describing a looming Crimson Orb in a nefarious manner

Byass chips? Are you sure?

I literally just did that and did not get 40K to 70K per, not even close.
I got about three million last night in around an hour making and selling bypass chips. It can be tedious swapping menus and stuff, but it was totally worth it.

They're only 3500 each unless you get a mark up, but the cost of making them is so low that you can do it en masse and get 60 - 70k easily filling up slots of your inventory with them.

Also stacks in your ship are double what they are in your inventory, so just filling them up with plutonium and iron means you can make a ton of them. It's a good way to make money

Follow up to my previous post. I recorded a video of me blowing a tunnel through a mountain.

https://youtu.be/DpF3Fr9-UGA

I can confirm that leaving for space and returning the user made deformation will stay. The original tunnel you see is actually something I had done previously before returning. If interested I can post a video showing more of the hidden cave system I found.

I totally received a warp drive upgrade...except I didn't? It doesn't show up as an available schematic when I try to build it. I didn't realize this until I saw some other users reporting about it and then confirmed it myself. Is this a bug? My ship currently has an upgraded warper, but when I eventually upgrade, I want the ability to build my own. Has me worried that other upgrades I've received actually didn't get logged for whatever reason.

That's cool! I thought that was the case! Can you check if it is still is there after leaving the system and coming back?

If your ship/suit already has the upgrade installed the blueprint wont show but if you dismantle it or buy a ship without it the blueprint is there.

Found a planet with Vortex Cubes all over it today. They alert sentinels but I just use run/melee/jetpack to get away and collect some more cubes on my way. Made over 4 million in no time and I was finally able to get a ship with 25 slots.

I love this game. Even if it's repetitive, it's the space exploration adventure I always wanted.

Oh damn, I didn't even realize you could blow through the terrain. Is it possible to just go straight down and create giant traps for people? lol

Come across any caverns that are only accessible by mining?

Did anyone else experience a feeling of being overwhelmed when first starting out? I'm really trying to find a groove. It took me forever to find a way to get what I needed to get off the planet that I spawned on and I have the feeling that I'm going to have to grind through everything that I need to do.
Yeah, I kind of actually hate my first hour or so with the game, but eventually everything clicked for me and I have a clear idea of what I want to do and understand the systems and stuff. It is incredibly overwhelming to begin with, but it's really satisfying once everything comes together

Yep you can dig straight down as well. The cave system I found had no apparent entrances so it's very likely others exist as well.

I'd like to try it out and see. My only worry would be locating the spot again. It took me much longer than expected to locate it knowing relatively it's location.

Got around 12 hours in now and I am really enjoying it. Nothing quite like it , going to planets and not knowing what you might find there, to me it's very fun.

My main complains are:

1. Lack of different Biomes per planet, the planets can be HUGEEE but they are literally one biome. Look at Earth, we have tropical/desert/woodlands/tundras. The planets in NMS would be more fun to explore if different areas on them have different biomes.

2. Lack of special/unique things to find. It's pretty much go to planet, find resources, get upgrades/monoliths, etc. I have yet to do something on a planet that seemed really "unique/special" in terms of the storyline or gameplay. Itd have been nice to have some one-off moments or super rare things that can happen to you on planets that made exploring more of a surprise/thrilling.

3. Too much life - What I mean by this is, so far in my experience EVERY single supposed "undiscovered" planet I've been to has been full of Alien outposts and Sentinels. It kind of ruins the feeling of you being the "first" one to discover something if you populate the world with alien npcs/sentinels, I wish finding Alien outposts/sentinels were something tihat was rare so when you DID find them it was special and exploring felt like you really are exploring something untouched and unknown to any intelligent life.

Yes you can continue it another day. I just turned it off for a bit and when I booted it back up my progress kept going up. Yeah I had to beat my last time in sols. I was on this planet for an hour or so before I saw it change.

Damnnnn, that's cool.

Strangest thing.... My brother got No Mans Sky and was super hyped about it and waited all these years for it. Well, last week he got pneumonia but got to play it a bit before he got sick. He got out of hospital and says every time he turns on the game he gets ill. Even looking at the box art case gives him nausea. It's like his brain associates his illness with the game.

Must be hard not being able to play a game you waited years for. For me, it would be like if Uncharted 4 made me sick every time I turned it on.

shameless self promotion but i found another simple way to get it...

Find a Drop pod on any extreme planet and hop inside it.

It stabilizes the rads/cold/tox but still registers as surviving hostile environment... just AFK in one (nothing can attack you inside one either) the only thing you have to keep an eye on is your life support but it drops really slowly... i went from milestone 7 to 10 without needing to recharge life support)

(ah ... i didnt know you could get it in a shelter though... lol)

Man that's pretty sad. Sorry to hear that, although happy to hear your bro is out now.

Only visited a couple of solar systems over the course of the weekend. I kept running into mining and trading opportunities that allowed me to max out my exosuit storage and buy a ship with 26 inventory slots. Got a good upgrade on my multi tool as well. Ready to explore but I have run into another good opportunity to make some cash on another backend of my ass looking world. I miss those paradise planets I was getting early on.

On the bright side, I found a planet full of Drop Pods, and go my suit inventory up to "Eh, it's enough for now." levels of inventory space.

On the down side, I have very few Units left and I need a better ship. The crashed ones I've found haven't been much better than what I have, especially considering how many inventory slots are left after upgrades and how many resources I'd need to get it running again. I've seen some decent ships at 1.3 million Units on the local space stations, though.

So... I need either to find a good wreck or get a million spacebucks. Any tips on either?

Can you dismantle broken upgrades on a wrecked ship? Or do you need to fix them before you can dismantle them?

I recall being really sick around the Gran Turismo 2 launch and having a similar reaction to the game after I got better. I associated my sickness with the game. Weirdest thing.

Honestly think Im going to settle on my next planet for a bit and farm up some units by making bypass coins while dumping all the stuff im not using.

Wish you can add extra slots to you ships :(

I know exactly how this feels, I have the same thing with Red Faction Guerrilla haha. I hope your brother is well and eventually gets past it so he can ecplore through space 🚀

Luck of the draw. I've been on the same planet for the past couple days just farming these pearls that I can sell for 27,500 units each. It's a pretty barren world, but it's non-toxic and all of the caves are littered with these things. I don't want to leave because it's too easy making money this way. I bought a 31-slot ship for 6 million units and now I've got about that much saved up again. Of course when I was at the trading post, another ship of the same model lands next to me, and it has 46 slots but with a whopping 49 million price tag. Game just trying to make me feel bad.

Sweet! I have been in a shelter staring at one of those plant experimenting modules for the past hour. Lots o' fun!

I didn't read all of this and just immediately went looking for a drop pod thinking I wouldn't have to worry about life support. Lol.

Also anyone doing this should remember to save before using their ship for whatever reason. Wouldn't want to be launched into orbit and have load an old save.

Well, on the 3rd system that I think opens up some of the story, the big planet is a high security planet that has tons of Gravitino Balls. Grab one, 3 star sentinel level, and the space station has a star value for Titanium.

Been here awhile, made a few million. If anyone ever sees Gravitino Prime as a system, you'll find this planet too.

He says anything and everything No Man's Sky related is doing it. Even the logo of the game. Really sucks for him, but I hope he can get over it.

Haha... i named my system Gravitino Death.

In Minecraft you gather ressources to achieve something of your own making, to build. In No Mans Sky you gather ressources so you can continue to gather ressources so you can continue to gather ressources. Minecraft is a Snake chasing prey, growing bigger and stronger while No Mans Sky is a Snake only ever chasing its own tail.

I played Minecraft when it was originally released for like $5 bucks and was a barebones version of what it is now. The game has never been particularly compelling to me. No matter how many times I go back to it to give a shot.

NMS on the other hand is extremely compelling in that there are tasks I can assign to myself that don't involve just making stuff.

The amount of crashes on ps4 is incredible

I actually didn't know this was a thing until I came in this thread. Must be lucky. Only one crash in the last 20 hours of gameplay.

My home system got named GAF, and in it is a planet named GAF Banheim, where various species of moderators dwell. Beware the Gafasarus Duckrollicus and Gafasarus Xanderus.

Nice, I hope when I do run into another player's territory that they actually name stuff.

Is anyone else not having any luck with transmission towers giving them locations of wrecked ships?

I really really want a new ship now and I've been trying to find crashed ships like the guide that was posted said to. Find the orange beams, use bypass chip, locate a transmission tower and then go it.

However when I do this,t he transmission towers almost always point me to a shelter and not to a ship.

Damn. Funny thing is I was the illest I've ever been when The Witness came out. Was looking forward to that game for years and I still played it all the way through that whole week. Now I associate the game with feeling the worst I've ever felt.

The way upgrades are handled in this game really makes me mad.

I finally finished upgrading my warpdrive and a whole bunch of other ship and multi tool stuff after farming for things.

I go to the space station a jump later and the guy wants to give me a multitool with 4 more slots on it, but all the upgrades were for the bolt blaster and I had none of the materials to remake mine. I backed out to see about dismantling mine and then taking his but he wouldn't offer it to me again.

Then I went to scout out a crashed ship which was a 24 slotter compared to me 19 slot ship but it only came with beam and blaster upgrades and I'd have to repair them anyways.

Aughh why cant you just uninstall a tech and install it on another thing, that makes getting things with more slots feel like a huge hassle

I'm the same. But once I'd built a house and dug some mines all I ended up doing was wasndering off exploring - which was pretty unsatisfying in Minecraft. NMS was the game I wanted it seems.

I've only got a crashed ship location once, and I got interrupted right after, and the location marker disappeared. I have yet to see a single crashed ship.

Finally got a multitool that had a decent amount of slots on it, while also having the zoom in/analyze feature. Most multitools just don't come with that, and I don't think I have a recipe for making them :/ Hate to change weapons only to no longer be able to scan items

Is anyone else not having any luck with transmission towers giving them locations of wrecked ships?

I just had one do it for me earlier. Granted it was the first one I've seen, and the ship was worse than my 690,000 unit 23 slot one. But still, it was cool. It had a really good warp drive, but the slot capacity sucked so I passed on it. The warp drive sigma was pretty tempting though, but it was like 16 slot capacity, ugh.

I actually didn't know this was a thing until I came in this thread. Must be lucky. Only one crash in the last 20 hours of gameplay.

I've crashed twice in about 15 hours; one was during the galaxy map title screen. But yeah, some have had many more. I still wonder if some of these are heat-related crashes, as NMS probably taxes the CPU more than any other PS4 game.

I hope the amount of crashes in this game will lead Sony to enforce tighter cert criteria again. It's really unacceptable to have a console game crashing this much.

Follow the Atlas Path and you will eventually find
a Anomaly in a NON-Atlas system, a special NPC will give to you the recipe for Atlas Pass v1 in a special purple colored space station.

Took me about 60 hours myself. But I spent the first 50 or so just mining and upgrading my suit and weapon which are now maxed out, so I definitely got my money's worth out of this game.

Wish I knew the exact amount of hours I put in. I know I definitely put in at least 5 hours every day since the day of it's release.

I thought I was following the Atlas path but for some reason I don't think I am anymore. I don't have any stones and don't necessarily have any objectives anymore. Not sure what happened but is there any way to get back on the path to get a pass?

Never had a crash until last night. Had another one just now. Lost some progress. Guess I opened the door to more crashes. :(

Why, why is there no other way to save? Seriously. I hope they can find a way to fix that.

That's how it was for me. Felt like the worst grind in the game. Especially when the ships it led me to had the same amount of slots as my current one.
