Well, on the 3rd system that I think opens up some of the story, the big planet is a high security planet that has tons of Gravitino Balls. Grab one, 3 star sentinel level, and the space station has a star value for Titanium.

Been here awhile, made a few million. If anyone ever sees Gravitino Prime as a system, you'll find this planet too.

I just got to a planet like that, except it has venom sacs everywhere and does the same thing when you pick one up. Just grabbed like 8 of them and went back to a space station to sell. I could go back and forth all day doing it there. They're all over the place.

I finally found an ocean world with islands!!! And it has huge Aluminum deposits!! But you get like jack shit per deposit OnO

Twice I've had underwater Relics turn out to be nothing. But I can't go to the other side of the planet to see if they're there because once I get to the area they're meant to be it says "destination reached" and the icon goes away. Ffffffuck.

I actually REALLY like the island planets because I get a better sense of completion from them. It's easy to explore an entire island, it's way harder to feel like you've cleared an area when the planet is just a sparkling landscape.

Now been on 2 of the 6 planets/moons in this second system, can't wait to check out the rest.

I'm the same. But once I'd built a house and dug some mines all I ended up doing was wasndering off exploring - which was pretty unsatisfying in Minecraft. NMS was the game I wanted it seems.

Same. I went from being confused about Minecraft's level of success to having something I can relate to, to make sense of it.

Between this and Dragon Quest Builders I think I'll finally understand what all the fuss is about when it comes to sandbox open world games.

Like they're growing on the ground. Little Bright Light Balls of Straight Cash

Ok, priorities changed. Fuck the AtlasPass V2 and V3.

Time to work on getting Sigma, Tau and Theta mats.

Upgraded mining lasers both on the planet and in space with shields up to capacities, stacks of plutonium and titanium is all you need to survive.

Lasers truly own conventional weapons.

Not sure if it was said, if your crashing when you open your discovery log, don't touch anything and wait for it to update, watch the dot on the left when it stops ticking upward you can do stuff again. This fixed a ton of my crashes, even just moving the cursor while it was updating would cause it to crash sometimes. I still get the occasional crash and I think some NPCs are bugged when you complete an interaction, some of them I crash every time after talking to them.

That's how it was for me. Felt like the worst grind in the game. Especially when the ships it led me to had the same amount of slots as my current one.

The only crashed ship I've found was similar to designs I saw in stations that had 10 more slots than mine, but this one only had one more slot. From what I've been reading from others it sounds like all crashed ships have an equivalent slots amount to your current ship. Either a bug or a deliberate design choice, but it makes them pretty much useless.

It's going to be weird coming back to this game in like 3 months after a NMS has several updates under it's belt.

Some folks will manage to do what I accomplished in 60 hours in a fraction of the time due to the efficiency of increased storage and having a home / base to come back for storage and stuff.

I mean v1.0 the stacks were 100 for both the Exosuit and Ship, and v1.03 they increased them to 250 for suit and 500 for ship. And according to this - http://www.no-mans-sky.com/2016/08/update-1-03/ they plan to increase it even more.

So the inventory storage issues and progression will a lot faster for later adopters then us Day 1 folks.

Add in base building which likely means storage crates and Freighters that could possibly mean being able to own multiple ships with their own individual storage. Things will be much more efficient. I just hope they also manage to balance the increased storage capacity with reasons find it important to have.

I mean can you imagine if your Freighter could be destroyed that contained like 500 Million units worth of ships and their inventories.

I really want to see what this game evolves into over time. Much like when I bought Starbound in early access back in December 2013 and playing it again two weeks ago when it turned v1.0. Same for Minecraft when I bought it during the Beta and it adding new biomes and content over time.

In 6 months from a year from now, NMS might be a very different experience from what I have now.

I think the idea behind crashed ships (besides the event at each one) is just to make it a way to change your ship aesthetic. It is technically possible to grind your way up as crashed ships have 1 slot more than your current ship but it isn't a good use of your time unless you really prefer the narrative of repairing a ship over buying one.

That would be too much for me to be honest. I think it would be cool to add for people that want to do that stuff, but I think I'll be good after completing the Atlas ending and getting to the center. Don't think I have a desire to play this game 1,000+ hours.

I finally found a really good planet. I've got 3 slot upgrades so far, all of the wildlife is friendly, there are plenty of high value resources, and a friendly alien gave me a better multitool for free.

The only issue it has is the freezing temps, but the only time I was out long enough for it to matter was when mining a huge deposit of emeril.

Digital here, had about 10 crashes in total in about 20 hours or so of gameplay

I thought maybe it was possibly related to the disc version but I guess not.

---

So, I'm on this planet an every time I scan, I get tons of green exclamation points. What are those for?

The planets haven't got much better on these first few planets, but the resources have picked up considerably.

Just installed the tau so let's see what happens. Btw...my 16 slot ship is hanging in there.

Alright so after building a massive bank thanks to a Virtex Cube littered planet I am waiting in the space station to purchase my first ship.

I am using my starter ship still. What is the best ship I could have land here? I assume the larger and better ones won't show given I'm replacing a crappy ship? Kinda like how the multi tools work that you find?

Best I have seen is 27 slots at 2.7 million. My starter ship is the basic 15 slot one. Didn't put any upgrades on it.

Thanks!!!

Welp, I finished the Atlus Route.
I can't believe I traded 700000 units and the inventory headache for some flavour text. Unless I tangibly see a user coming out of the star I made it was kinda lame. Still, working the simulation angle was kinda fun considering the context of it being a game.

Now for the centre of the galaxy. Life is so much easier with a couple warp drive upgrades, and the recipes to make the fuel straight from raw materials. It's kinda sucky I keep running into the same blueprints over and over; I just want the v3 Atlus Pass dammit!

Any tips for getting to the centre? Currently I figure just hit every black hole I can but I dunno if that actually gets me closer. Is there any way to check how close I am? The warp breaking my ship is also an arse, wish there was an easier way to scout out specific resources...

I can see that they didn't want to make it too easy to upgrade your ship, but when they have a crashed ship that isn't consistent with similar ship hulls being used on stations due to it being deliberately nerfed, it breaks the immersion a bit. Would've been better to make them realistic ships, but make really good ones "rare drops".

Is there any way to stay in your ship when you land? Someone early in the thread said it was possible but could've been hype talking. Should be a toggle to have to press square to get out.

My main complains are:

1. Lack of different Biomes per planet, the planets can be HUGEEE but they are literally one biome. Look at Earth, we have tropical/desert/woodlands/tundras. The planets in NMS would be more fun to explore if different areas on them have different biomes.

2. Lack of special/unique things to find. It's pretty much go to planet, find resources, get upgrades/monoliths, etc. I have yet to do something on a planet that seemed really "unique/special" in terms of the storyline or gameplay. Itd have been nice to have some one-off moments or super rare things that can happen to you on planets that made exploring more of a surprise/thrilling.

3. Too much life - What I mean by this is, so far in my experience EVERY single supposed "undiscovered" planet I've been to has been full of Alien outposts and Sentinels. It kind of ruins the feeling of you being the "first" one to discover something if you populate the world with alien npcs/sentinels, I wish finding Alien outposts/sentinels were something tihat was rare so when you DID find them it was special and exploring felt like you really are exploring something untouched and unknown to any intelligent life.

Yup, in terms of immersion these are also my main complaints, and where the game fails IMO.

I definitely agree that there should be a much wider range of possible inventory designs at crashed ships, including ones smaller than your existing ship. It would make more sense to me and make the crashed ship events more exciting and worth searching out.

Or fight...

Can usually 2shot the four legged sentinel with grenades. Blow the ground out from under it. The game glitches. It still thinks the mech is there... It's glowing "eyes" still float there but its body is crumpled up blown off to the side somewhere.

Wow my first warp upgrade has a much longer range than I was expecting.

Also, found my own Vortex cube planet and it is just a bit on the cold side.

Things are looking up.

Yeah I really hate aliens just chilling in a seat waiting for you on every planet. Also Sentinels being everywhere like wtf. Sentinels should only be close to the center that's it imo.
They really should update to make intelligent life more rare and also a little more almost complete no life or plants dead planets.

Played an unhealthy amount of this over weekend. Got a nice roomy 30 slot spaceship for a cool 4.7 million. Been hunting drop pods to get my suits inventory space up enough so it stops being a pain in the ass. Pimped out my suit to resist most planetary conditions that are thrown at me. And i'm still only in my 4th system searching out the backstory of atlus and still need to peice together these 3 alien races languages. Didn't expect to get so absorbed into it. Yet to see a planet i consider beautuful either (and when i do i may stick around). But am currently on a planel largly made up of gold...hence having the cash to buy a 4.7 million ship lol.

It is shallow, simple and requires no skill. But the loop of crafting and discovering has me hooked.

I like it as it is and will play at least until i conclude the "story" and maxed out my inventories. But if they build upon this with more varied content i can see myself coming back to this a hell of a lot and i think it could really be something special.

So I really enjoy this game but later on the grind and reused templates sets in.

Here's what would be awesome to include:

  • Civilized planets and/or large space stations populated with lots of npcs
  • Customization of ships, guns, etc.
  • Large ruin complexes that you can explore (with interiors)
  • Derelict ships adrift in space you can explore
  • Missiles in starship combat
  • Multiplayer, multiplayer, multiplayer
  • Land vehicles
  • A setting to auto refill if you have the resources. Give it a slight delay in action for balance if you want. The fact you have to pause to go to then menu screen is immersion breaking.
  • A player vault

I got one yesterday that was quite lush - lots of rain storms but green as far as the eye could see, and covered in venom sacs for monies. It is quite a hook when you get one of the nicer ones.

I remember Sean said, when asked if there were cities in the game, that we should think more on the scale of Mos Eisley type settlements in the game. I haven't heard of any actual towns like that being in the game, so my feeling is they ran out of time (money, contractual obligation, or both) and shipped it as-is. In the interview he did on launch day he said Hello was in quite a bit of debt from NMS development. The good thing is that Sean is committed to a Minecraft style of free updates, so I hope we'll eventually see the things that were left out.

I finished the Atlus Path and used the spheres
to make a new universe
, but I guess I've got over 170,000 light years still to go to get to the center. This is gonna take forever. I'm considering just hopping through black holes the rest of the way, but the distance is SAYS I've shaved off(tens of thousands of light years) never matches up to what my warp screen says is left using math. Am I doing something wrong?

My first star system was named "LOLiverse" with four planets. LOL, LMAO (with either its moon or small and REALLY nearby planet AYYY), ROFL, and KEK.

Very original, I know.

Is there a guide with answers for shutting down the alarm when breaking into a manufacturing facility? Don't feel like guessing and having to search for another manufacturing site.

I hated this game on my initial experience of it. Shallow, repetitive, mindless. Cookie cutter locations on cookie cutter planets, but I put some 20 hours in on the weekend and I can't stop playing it. WTF!?

New ship, only 23 slots but Exosuit is at 36. I love the design, looks nice in the grass.

I've been playing this game for at least 5 hours a day since launch O.o
