Best grind I found so far was a moon littered with Sac Venom where you just destroy the balls from a distance no need to interact. Was bringing in 500,000 on each run but got bored once I reached 12 million. Which is like a 1/3 of the way to ships I'd want to purchase.

Then factoring in all the busy work of recreating all the warp drives again. The grind of this game is so out of whack. Pretty sure gonna burn out soon and send this back to the rental house and just watch whoever gets to the centre of the universe on Youtube. No incentive to do it myself.

I'm constantly being harassed by pirates who are after my precious cargo. For some reason i keep losing those dogfights. Is my ship just not strong enough or am i missing something?

They are pretty easy. Put some shield upgrades and damage upgrades for either the cannon or phase beam and have like 3x500 stacks of Iron in your ship inventory at all times to replenish shields.

Yeah my suit is already at 48 slots and I've been grinding this planet a bit. It gave me enough money to max my Exo and buy a 28 slot ship for 2 million. And I still have 13 million in the bank.

So I'm gonna keep grinding and selling vortex cubes until I can buy a 40+ slot ship.

Then I am jealous as I am currently sitting at 28 slots on my suit.

I have 2 mil after my Vortex Cube planet, but really until I get more blueprints for warp upgrades or need to stash more Atlus balls I'm not in a hurry to splurge on ships. Think my next will be ~1 mill tops.

I'd be curious about the crashed ship method though, to see how far you could take it and if it would be worth it in the long run after all the repairs. I don't think it would be too difficult at my stage as I have all the blueprints for essential stuff (hyperdrive, warp fuel) and the requirements aren't too demainding but I imagine after a while that would change.

Ok so the Atlas Interfece on my map was not the anomaly but it was a station that gave me an Altas stone. Then it gave me another waypoint to follow to another Interface, the first jump on THIS path gave me the space station anomaly.

This game...

None of these systems were ON my designated Altas Path.

Finding a ship with armaments to rip through pirates is not hard. Finding one with both armaments and shields is a lot rarer (maybe not possible) in my experience. Two or 3 hits with my current cannon on my 29 slot fighter style ship seems to kill any fighter but I spend half the time recharging shields

damn, i actually found a ship with upgraded shields and weapons but i didnt take it because it didnt have enough cargo slots (it was a crashed one)

btw, the other day i found a weird multitool like a tripod or something how does it work? it really had good mining laser capabilities

Try using the phase lasers instead, once I did that the pirates are easy peasy.

Anyone try the homing upgrade for the blaster cannon or whatever it's called? Seems like that would be a game changer, but I've gotten use to not having any upgrades for that weapon since I stopped using it. I just got the upgrade, not sure if I want to use it...

I wish the space combat was better. I've found the regular photon cannon largely useless. Upgrade the phase beam and shields, make sure you're flying with oxides to recharge your shield.

Yes but it's hard as fuck to find.

I think they do. Your talking about stuff like shield etc right.

Yeah

I haven't found any Omega upgrades for the suit itself, but I dunno why they wouldn't exist.

Lots of blueprints are bugged and don't show up after you unlock them, but I've also got blueprints that have identical names but take different materials.

For example, I have two separate Toxin Suppression Tau, but one of them takes what the other element Tau upgrades take to craft, while the other takes what the Theta versions take, so I imagine that one of my Toxin Suppression Taus is actually the Theta version in disguise.

Yup that's right, the one that takes the higher materials is actually Theta. They used the wrong description / Icon for it.

max out your suit then focus on your ship. Then when you find a planet with nice resources you can pretty much get a ton at a clip and ramp up your units

Yep, that is the next goal, after the 2nd warp drive upgrade.

I need a ton of nickel but I can never find any. Got 15 now but I don't remember where I found it.

Nickel is incredibly common in space. Just blast the GIGANTIC asteroids and they'll usually be Iridium, Copper, or Nickel. Just keep flying around til you find a Nickel one.

I'd recommend installing the Sigma and Tau shield deflection tech. Make sure they touch each other in you ship screen so you get the bonus.

Also, I prefer the phase beam over the photon cannons when I'm battling other ships. Just make sure you have the phase beam cooldown tech installed so you can light up those attackers without overheating your beam so much.

Remember, you can repair your ship's shields while your in a battle.

I finally got a chance to play this over the weekend. My first hour of the game was very frustrating. The UI navigation was so completely unintuitive. I finally managed to get into space and had to go to bed soon after. I picked it up again last night and had a much better grasp of the game and basically got completely sucked into it. I love the sense of exploration in this game. It would definitely be very cool with vr. I wish they had a base building or city building system in here so you could really make a planet your own, but I see myself spending many hours playing this.

Let's say you have Sigma, Tau and Theta upgrades. No point in crafting Sigma and Tau right? Jump straight to Theta?

Edit : nevermind :)

oh nice, i was about to ask this. thanks

Yep, but like I said in another post, some upgrades (well, actually just Ship Shields off the top of my head) are all just +1. But they all stack, so it's worthwhile to install them all.

Having deflector shields sigma, tau, and theta make me able to tank like a demon in space battles. I don't have to move. I just keep L2 held down to stay still/drift slowly and pick things off.

Found the coolest ship.

DIdn't have enough credits to get it.

GODDMAN that is a nice looking ship

My next ship will be a 34-35 slots and I think I'll settle with that. After that the prices are just too high and the grind would make me get bored, so I'll rather stop.

I don't think I'll really need a 48 slot ship anyways...

Okay, i feel like an idiot for asking this... but this is the first i hear of an phase cannon. Is this an upgrade of is this standard in every ship? So far i've only been using the photo cannons.

Edit : nevermind, apparently you have to craft them all and make sure they touch each other (thanks to the above poster)

Does that only apply to shields?

Normally no point in stacking unless its Warp reactors which seem to require you having all of to visit all systems which is absurd.

This was the first ship I bought. Kept it for ages and then farmed for an upgrade to a trucker's ship

the look and colour were perfect for me. It was only 900k.

You dont have to, but they stack when crafted and you get another bonus for grouping them all. Basically a way to overcharge abilities.

Shoot the big round asteroids in space. Nickel is kinda rare but you'll get one eventually.

I think some of the larger asteroids in space have nickel in them.

Thx bros. I keep getting iridium out of those big asteroids so I thought that's all they gave.

Getting to the point where all blueprints I get are dupes, don't care about making more units as I have a 35+ suit, small ship but has all warp drives, done with atlas, So really nothing to do but heading to the center but that's gonna take like 1600 warps

I see a lot of people who are having trouble finding a better multi-tool. I had this happen where every multi-tool that was offered had fewer slots than my current one until I actually accepted a downgrade. Since then every multi-tool offered has been an upgrade. If you can't find an upgraded multi-tool, accept the downgrade, then your luck will change.

This is what I did too. I settled.

I noticed you could get a 31-slot ship for about 7-8 mil if you waited a while at a station, but getting a 37-38 slot ship was all the way to 18-20 mil. That's a huge difference for 6 slots and a lot of grinding - hours of grinding in the difference. So I just bought the 31-slotter for 8 million and found 3 crashed ships to bring it up to 34. And that, for me, is enough for now. (Having the full 48-slot exosuit helps - that's where I invested all of the money I found while I was just playing the game and following the atlas path.)

The difference between grinding vortex cubes for hours and searching out crashed ships is that one feels like work (which I refuse to do when I'm supposed to be having fun) and the other feels like you're actually playing the game - exploring planets to find stuff.

I found a planet with these balls in some sort of egg sack that has to be cracked open.

That's a new one.

They do aggro the sentinels as well.

Go into the caves and farm the hell out of them.

Yep, that is the next goal, after the 2nd warp drive upgrade.

I need a ton of nickel but I can never find any. Got 15 now but I don't remember where I found it.

Nickel is usually Floating in the air.

Gotta go through black holes.

Every time you do a random part of your ship gets destroyed.

So the routine until I reached the center yesterday was

Jump to black hole
Go through it
If random part was warp drive upgrade go to the planets in the new system and find neccessary materials to repair
Repeat process
???
Profit

See that's what i dont understand. Why the hell is it taking so long? Didnt people initially blast to the center in 30 hours somehow?! No way in hell am i going to stick around for 1600+ warps. Not a chance in hell. 40 plus has taken long enough lol.

Awesome, thanks everyone. I wonder how much better it would be to stack the jetpack upgrades. :)

With the three upgrades and the meele jetpack boost, I'm traveling twice as fast on foot!

I also just found a red shield plating blueprint. 75 Iron to craft them. Makes surviving extended away missions on extreme planets a walk in the park.

Find a cave and craft a number of them and your resistance modules will be good for 15 min before you take 2 min to craft some more.

Does anywhere online have a list of ships available yet? I google but that was just fruitless. I'm seeing lots of different ones posted in screenshots but it'd be cool to know what's available and what they cost rather than just standing in a space station watching them come and go for ages.

With version 1.00 the game started you out 40k light years from the core. With patch 1.03 this was changed to ~180k light years.

It took me around 150 black holes to reach the center. But it's not rewarding anyway so don't even bother and just look it up on Youtube.

So about how many black holes did it take you if you dont mind me asking... and about how many warps?

Also... without spoilers... is the "end" really that lame?

You completed the Atlas path? It's like that

That is my philosophy as well. I save a bunch of empty slots due to not upgrading ship's defenses or guns.
If the pirates come, I just let them kill me, humbly reincarnate, travel back to my grave and collect my crap.
But so far I've reduced those incidents by simply selling all my valuable crap while on the planet, I don't even visit space stations anymore.

I've been through some black holes. They didn't seem to bring me any closer to the centre, I just blasted off in some random direction for a ludicrous amount of light-years as far as I could tell.

150? What the fuck?

Fuck that, that's ridiculous. Those are supposed to be the shortcuts!

The grind in all aspects of this game is way out of balance.

You've reached it already? What happened?

Edit: I thought you have to go
through the second galaxy to get to the centre of the Universe like the devs said.

The Phase Beam and Photon Cannons are assigned to the triangle button on PS4. Just hit your button to switch from one to the other. The Phase Beam and the Photons are standard on every ship.

Anytime you have a question, ask away..
