I never really get the tendency towards anticlimax some developers have.

An ending in a video game, especially an exploration one, means little to me. The game is all about the playing of it. I'm there to play the game and enjoy the moment to moment experience, not hope that the ending made it all worth it.

And in an exploration game, where people create their own kind of experience, how do you create a satisfying ending? Everyone's expectations will be unique because they played the game the way they wanted to play it.

That's exactly correct, but that point is definitely not "4 days after its PC release" :P

Use the discoveries system on the galactic map to find it. Unless the servers are having issues it should work well.

I completely agree though, being able to set a waypoint on your current system would be a great QoL add.

I hadn't thought of that. I think I'm going to try that to get back to my first Atlus Station later tonight.

Okay, thanks.

I got my atlas pass from an alien. No space anomaly yet.

For the storylines: Am I missing out on something if I didn't select Atlas in the beginning? No need for details, but just if there are tangible goods I can't get anymore. That said, I don't remember which path I chose lol.

Do you think as more and more people make it to the center that we'll see a pretty vocal backlash regarding the game and or ending?

All I know is that I already hit the wall and was nowhere near the ending, so I spoiled myself just to see if there was anything to give me some drive to press on. Let's just say that I am not even going to bother and have put the game down. But I do wish good journey to those pressing on. Glad you are having fun.

I never really get the tendency towards anticlimax some developers have.

I think it has more to do with developers being unconcerned with story, especially in games with big central gameplay concepts like Mass Effect (multiple game-spanning decisions), Destiny (MMO-lite from a company not accustomed to it) and NMS (procedural universe). Sean's vision for NMS was an infinitely explorable universe, not something with a concrete beginning/middle/end, and I think thrusting a story on it was simply a means of giving players who normally wouldn't pick up a survival game a goal to push towards. He maybe assumed if that goal was a must-see moment, it would push players who simply wanted to explore and survive to hurry towards the center and not stop and enjoy the sights. I dunno. He knew the ending would leak and I'm sure he knew people wouldn't like it, but I imagine his focus was on making sure the game didn't completely fall apart every time you landed on a new planet. Frustrating stuff to hear, for sure, but I guess it'll help me keep my expectations for the "end" in check.

Found a bug in space combat. I was on my way to a space station when I got a warning I was being scanned, then I got knocked out of Pulse drive by 6 attacking ships. I destroyed one of them and the game said "Attacking ships defeated" and the others ran away, but they never de-spawned, they're still on my displays but flying away from me faster than I can catch up. Because they're still technically hostile and attacking me though (even though they're flying away from me), I can't engage Pulse or Hyperdrive, so I'm stuck with a 40 minute flight to the space station on standard drives :fp:

Basically there's no way to retreat from space combat even if you wanted to it seems. If you're attacked in space you have to kill everyone.

I daren't try to quit and re-load incase I lose any progress since it only seems to save when you leave your ship or activate a beacon.

All on one planet or in one system, or what?

Try a different planet maybe? For me the crashed ships always had exactly one more slot than my current one.

on one planet, bailed that planet out after the 7th try and on my second right now.. hopefully will find a good ship.

7 times in a row, can you believe that. I have 23 slot in my exosuit, and my ship only have 16.. lmao

I've seen only 1 crash site. Just go to the space station and check the other ships coming in.

It's random. What you're describing was my experience too, so I just bought a good one when I got enough units.

well, i only have 800k and the cheapest i encounter was 2mil with 22 (was it?) slots. still a long way to go, so im planning to find a "free" one.

When you jump through black holes, is the number random? I read that you're supposed to jump like 1000 light years or something, but apparently my jump was 95,000... Is that... Normal?

Hey I just wanted to say that I really appreciate this sentiment. I hope that most who are not having fun will follow your example. This is not a game to "put yourself through" in the hopes that things change and you start to enjoy it.
I've talked to every alien so far and got their questions right, nothing. Know about 60-70 gek words and 20 vyreek.
lol! Not enough, certainly

That's weird, so at a random outpost on a planet?

Yep, it was really random and weird. I'll take it, but hope my game isn't bugged.

It was from the Korvax, but I am not sure if that will help.

Mine showed up as an anomaly in another system and I had to jump twice to get there. I guess it's procedurally generated? lol

I am on my third system and I am not sure lol.

I haven't verified this and it's little more than a theory for me at this point. But I believe black holes function as wormholes- each takes you to another fixed point in space. If that's the case they're neither random nor is the number "supposed" to be anything.

I've seen a few bugs and some UI/gameplay improvements are needed, but my experience has been really smooth. As expected, NMS is oddly relaxing and will be something I can see myself coming back to whenever I want to chill out and explore.

I'm still enjoying it, but after playing this exclusively since launch whenever I could including most of last weekend, it's almost time to let it breathe a little and mix in other games to keep it fresh. Maybe I will after I get to this
Atlas
marker, or the one after that, or maybe a few planets after that...

Pretty much. I spurned the Atlas at the beginning since a guided narrative is pretty much the opposite of what I was looking for with No Man's Sky. Wish the game would stop bugging me to start it by popping Space Anomalies every other system.

That's expensive. I bought my 24 slot for ~1mil.

I was on the same planet with someone else this weekend. When I showed up, I was the only one there because all of the planets had not been discovered. I landed on the closest one to my warp point and started looking around. Naturally, I began to scan and upload thing, but that's when I noticed that I wasn't the only one doing that.

There was someone else on the planet uploading and scanning wildlife. Everytime I opened up the menu, there were new items discovered by them. I tried to message the person, but they never responded. It was pretty random, and kinda cool, though.

That's awesome. I'd love to come across something like that.

2 hr Ted Talk by Sean Murray. Reveal your character was a beautiful woman the whole time.

Spent on my Warp Cells on Atlas Path..but now my inventory doesn't have to carry those stones. Going to jump into some black holes today.

Now my ship says Off Planet....
I hope a beacon works

I should really stay out of this thread during work hours. It's just making me want to slag off and go home to play. O_O

I watched my friend start playing the other day. Noticed he was 179k LY from the centre.

When I loaded up mine, after 30hrs of play I'm 178k LY from the centre :p

Clearly I'm not a goal oriented person :p

My Altas path is all discovered by two different players. Makes for 0 funds from discoveries.

Backuplight and Lobolegio. Whoever you are. I secretly hate you.
