I'm sorry, I guess I don't really understand. You didn't preorder (?), but you want to know if you get the preorder bonus if you buy it in a couple weeks?

Yes that is what I'm asking. I saw someone get the game and start only yesterday and they got the free dlc - they didn't preorder.

Is it worth deconstructing valuable upgrades simply to reconstruct them so that they're in a different area of your inventory, thereby allowing them to be grouped?

I just got a new 48 slot ship, and am wondering if the benefits of grouping a family of upgrades together is worth the deconstruction/reconstruction cost.

Also, is Theta the best tier of upgrades? I thought I read something about an Omega tier of upgrades, but after about 30 hours thus far, I've only seen Theta.

Can't stress this enough and I know that this has been said before. If you are going to buy a ship, strip down your current ship and wait in the spaceport. 40 slot ships cost roughly around 19 Mil. The reason these ships are so expensive is that you probably have your current one loaded with add-ons

And then none of the ships for sale have warp upgrades and shit. Better to just dupe glitch some money and then wait for the right ship.

Does stacking pulse engines have any benefit?

I have a regular, sigma, and tau, should I have all 3 installed for optimal effect, or just install the tau one...

I ask because someone once mentioned that if you have all 3 warp drives installed you can travel further then just having the best one.

Currently in a red star solar system surviving on a heavily radiated extreme planet with storms and crazy sentinels. Almost died a couple times. Up to 3.0 sols so far. Graviton balls, knowledge stones and Calium for days.

I'm having a hard time leaving my planet. No hazards and caves with albumen pearls and gold for days with no hassle with from the sentinels.
I'm currently on a paradise planet littered with sac venom. The Sentinels immediately go to alert 3 if I pick any, but they're easily dispatched.

About time to jump to my next system, though. Got my new Warp Drive ready.

Yes they stack and make sure you place same-type upgrades next to each other so they have that color outline around them in the inventory. That's how you know they stack I believe(?) but not fully sure.

I have found it very unreliable to get a ship upgrade by waiting at space stations or trading posts. I have a 48-slot ship and I still routinely see ships offered that have in the high 20s or low 30s on slots. Finding crashed ships is much better because they'll always be close in terms of slots.

Nice. I would have platinumed it by now but the surviving sols on extreme planets is bugged for me. Ive been on extreme weather planets for hours upon hours and it hasnt budged.
It's not bugged the way you think it is.

You have to be there in one sitting.

If you leave the planet the counter resets.

Unlike all other milestones, the Sols is not a counter so it won't go up until you've surpassed your current record.

I got to 5 sols on a planet with hostile sentinels, gravity balls and lots of iron. I was looking for Zinc to redeem the shipwreck that I had almost repaired, and there was none on the planet. I could have stayed a lot longer, I think it is the easiest way.

What is the highest number of sols to get the rarest achievement (on Steam)?

Gotcha, thanks :)

My 16 slot ship won't be able to hold 3 pulse drives D:

Time to find a upgrade...

They (and all upgrades) stack regardless- the effect of each applies.

Grouping them together ALSO adds a bonus. If you look at the ring, you'll see this represented as a small "extension" of the main color.

Anyone got the Magmox blueprint? It costs

30 Carbon
300 Thamium9
300 Plutonium

to craft so it's super easy to make and sells for about 23k. Not bad for farming I think.

As nice as emeril and gold are I get a little tired of mining those huge boulders.

Here's something I don't understand about patches, updates and DLC.

If the universe is 'baked in' algorithmically - each voxel at each specific location due to a series of cascading mathmatical functions - then how can they update the game world with any new content without doing a hard reset on the universe? It doesn't make sense.

Evidence for this theory is the fact that this is exactly what they did for the day 1 patch.

That means that there's not a lot they can change, really, is there? Everything that happens in the buildings I can imagine could be added to, but adding new buildings would appear to be a change in the algorithm. Adding new lifeforms would be a change in the algorithm, but improving their AI once generated wouldn't be.

So what do we think we could see? What's possible?
Base building should definitely be possible. Would not affect the base algorithm.
Adding freighters and more incidents in space would be possible.
Better space combat would be possible, as would adding more sentinel types and better sentinel combat.
They could add quests into the pool of randomly chosen things aliens you meet can say to you, I guess.

Ultimately, though... I'm not sure there's a lot they can do.

I think it means the opposite. The universe/galaxy isnt stored in memory so they can change any of it at any time and it wouldn't matter at all. For all intents and purposes the universe is reset when you leave a planet. They've said as much because its all just algorithms they can add remove and change stuff as they see fit. Remove buildings, add animals change the sizes of planets, the players wouldn't even likely notice.

I discovered a planet that was literally covered in Sac Venom. Now I'm on a 3-day break from the game because I spent 12 straight hours fueling my trust fund with it.

How do you guys make so much money?

I got only 200.000 and I am struggling to get more. The ships that appear to buy are always more than 1 million.

Sweeeet! Glad to hear they stack regardless & that added bonus on top is a damn nice touch.

Terrible for farming. Just think about how much you need to collect to craft a decent amount even if hey are easily available.

If anyone wants money do the dupe glitch while you still can. Or farm cubes for hours and waste your time I guess.

Yes they stack and make sure you place same-type upgrades next to each other so they have that color outline around them in the inventory. That's how you know they stack I believe(?) but not fully sure.

But what effect does grouping similar upgrades have? The effects stack regardless of their placement in your inventory, but when grouped, they receive a border - which denotes some type of benefit, but what specifically is the bonus from doing this?

So I got an Atlas Stone by following the path, but was never given a blueprint to create the card. Was I not supposed to get it from the same place?
No, not the same place.

Yep, great for money in a pinch. Some systems will give more than that.

There are a lot of ways to make money. I'm planning to make a post about it when I get home.

Sounds like you're still quite early on, so don't worry about it unless you want to. Without any investment, if there's a planet you like, you get more than 200,000 units for uploading 100% of the creatures on one.

im getting patterns for stuff that automatically comes with ships and you cant deconstruct.

Also getting them for my suit...

Something tells me there was more planned for customization if these patterns exist and have super low requirements and explainations

Somewhere out there, someone at Ubisoft is kicking themselves for not coming up with a procedurally generated open world collectathon that is this game.

This is literally Ubisoft's wet dream come true

Can I get a new multi tool and then go back to my old one if I don't like the new one?

I ask because I held off on the pre order bonuses due to the whole missing hyperdrive blueprint thing - I have now redeemed but the game keeps telling me to get my bonus items because I declined the new multi tool as I got a much better one in the meantime.

Id like to get rid of that annoying message in the bottom right and as far as I can tell the only way now is to claim the multi tool (I claimed all the other bonus items). However, I don't want to do it at the cost of my current multi tool.

My Vortex Cube paradise. With sentinels so lazy you can just run away from them :p

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQDVBCPBK4s

That is a beautiful world with beautiful creatures.

You really should be able to 'favourite' planets and warp back to them using waypoints. That one would definitely get on my favourites list.

As for Vortex Cubes, you're better off finding a world where the rare drops like that are in a cave system, because in caves there's tons of them clustered together and no sentinels will bother you. Much better option for grinding. Although, if there's vortex cubes on the surface there are probably some in the caves on that world too.

But what effect does grouping similar upgrades have? The effects stack regardless of their placement in your inventory, but when grouped, they receive a border - which denotes some type of benefit, but what specifically is the bonus from doing this?
The bonus is simply a greater effect. It's visible on the ring showing the power level of that system, like a little extra section.

Dammit - my 2nd planet in starting system has big giant piles of Emril + fair amount of gold pillars (in caves) along with plenty of plaques...don't want to leave here till I have 3mill in the bank!

Minimal sentinals, zero wildlife, bit of radiation and strains the suit life support but otherwise I can make 500,000 every 20min or so.

Also, anyone else find the mining just oddly therapeutic after a hard day at work?

Also Also, works beautifully streaming from PS4 via Remote Play to SP4 screen.

Loving this game sofar and haven't really started yet.

I guess you're duping your way through from the jump? Maybe you don't know then because collecting those 3 resources takes like maybe 30s max in mining time.

Don't want to dupe, and if I did I wouldn't bother playing at all.

I'm trying to upgrade my ship's inventory by going back and forth between crashed ships and transmission towers, but I keep getting distracted by pearls everywhere.

Anyone found creatures taller then 5 meters?

Found one where I think the game cheated his height. Still had a 5-ish meter height listed, but he walked around on 2 legs and had to be 10-15 meters tall. Scoped him looking at me over the ridge of a hill, scared the shit out of me. Basically a T-Rex with Wing arms. Passive or Submissive.

When you've been searching and finally find a honey hole planet......and it has batshit insane sentinels....

Just kill the sentinels. Free Titanium (and if you want to waste space, neutrino chips)!

I'll have to go check out some caves then. The world is so nice I'm enjoying running around on the surface though. I don't mind a bit of cat and mouse with the Sentinels really, keeps it interesting.

As far as leaving goes I don't mind the dynamic. I know I'll be sorry to say goodbye to this world, but I think that's part of the concept of travelling - moving on. Also, it would be pretty easy make tons of money if you could just keep going back to the rich planets. I think having that choice to stay or leave is an interesting part of the game.

Don't want to dupe, and if I did I wouldn't bother playing at all.

No I spent a solid day (as in 24 real hours) farming cubes. That is time wasted doing nothing.

The prices for the high end ships are fucking stupid in this game. If you could get that amount of money in a reasonable time frame by just playing the game I would have done so.

Your choice is farming cubes until your eyes bleed or just take a shortcut and spare yourself some pain.

Yeah I know which route I will take. You get like 30k from selling that shit that you mentioned. You need room for tons of resources so you can't make that many and do you even realize how insignificant 30k is when ships are 60 million?

Ha, yeah, that is funny. The thamium and plutonium needed is like 3 or 4 little asteroids/crystals respectively. It's a great recipe.

It is also nice to see that I am not alone in my feelings on duping.

Barely been able to play this weekend from Boston, but the little bouts of piracy on Vita I've had have been great. Really works well.

Anyone else having that problem where your newest discovered planets/systems don't show up in the discoveries tab anymore?

Edit: Okay, apparently the system was discovered by someone else, so the planets I discovered within that system were far down the list instead of at the top like it normally is. Lol he named his system "Hung Society". Classy :D

Reading what the elite dangerous team have done with their game from release to today, does everyone think that Hello Games are capable of changing NMS into something far greater?

Is there a list of the improvements Elite Dangerous has seen since launch? Also how big is their team size?

I would personally love to see this game worked on for extended support for the next year. I'm even crossing my fingers for VR support. This would be a killer app without question.

I'm in almost the exact same place. Have about 21 million, looking for a decent looking 35+ slot ship. I've seen 32 slot ships for as little as 12 mil, but their slot layouts suck and they've all been ugly eyesores.

yeah im thinking of warping to see if I find different ships. I think the local resident race has something to do with the style of ships. I think if i find a korvax system again ill test my theory.

Found this multi-tool the other day, haven't seen another like it:

holy shit that multi-tool

I strongly suspect this game could have VR Support.

Wow, at my current cube gathering rate 24 hours would net me way over 100 million. I don't really think I need that much.

How do you guys make so much money?

I got only 200.000 and I am struggling to get more. The ships that appear to buy are always more than 1 million.

1. Find a planet with a rare object on it. Gravitino Balls work best since they're out in the open and you can just pick them up straight away, but Albumen Pearls are good, too.
2. Find an orange beacon on that planet and repeatedly feed it Bypass Chips and choose Shelter until it directs you to a location with a Galactic Market kiosk. That would be an Outpost or a Trading Post.
3. Fly to the Outpost/Trading Post and land on the landing pad, but do not approach the save beacon (or the ground underneath the structure in the case of a Trading Post) so the marker for the location doesn't go away and stays on your HUD. At this location you will save by hopping in and out of your ship.
4. This is now your home base. Empty your inventory as much as possible and run around scooping up as many of the rare items as you can carry. With the rocket boost trick and a moderately upgraded jetpack you can easily stay one step ahead of the Sentinels. Transfer items to your ship to clear space as needed. When you're full, return and sell everything off. I was getting close to a million units per run.
5. If the area near the Outpost/Trading Post runs dry of rare items, just take off, fly somewhere else, and collect more there. Since the marker for the Outpost/Trading Post is still on your HUD, you can easily find your way back and sell everything off, then rinse and repeat.

I've left a marker up on every planet with a rare object so far, just for possible future farming purposes. It's by far the fastest way to make money, much faster than mining, and it's pretty fun if you're proficient at rocket boosting. Clearing huge canyons in a single leap while futile Sentinel lasers zap past your head in pursuit is about as action-packed as this game gets outside of dogfights.

I had this problem until I realised to click the up and down arrows under the list.

Okay, apparently the system was discovered by someone else, so the planets I discovered within that system were far down the list instead of at the top like it normally is. Lol he named his system "Hung Society". Classy :D
