Let me tell you, buying a new ship is one area that could use some serious work. I have about 7M credits and all I've been coming across at space stations are duds. The last couple of times I've booted up the game (I'm waiting for some content patches before going full-on again) I've been trying to find a ship and I haven't found anything worthy of spending those credits on. Too few slots, shit layout, hideous... combine any two of those three.

Why buy ships? Use transmission towers and find free ships!

Yup. The ship I'm currently at is a full 48-slot ship, really fast and it looks good to boot... all without spending a penny. The only way I'll be swapping it out is if I find a design that I fall in love with.

Yeah, in one-slot increments (sometimes) and then you have the hassle of moving and deconstructing everything every time. I have the credits, I'd rather buy.

Just repair the bare minimum until you get a 48 slots.

TBH I can't be arsed either. Still on a 30 slots ship. I just occasionally swap whenever I happen to see/find a model I like. I think I've only been through 6-7 ships so far.

Really hoping we get some sort of content update soon. As much as I've enjoyed playing the game I'm starting to play it considerably less over the past week or so.

Something strange happened to me this morning while playing. I warped to a new undiscovered 'Atlas Interface' system according to the galactic map and when I arrived I did indeed discover the system. I immediately went to the Atlas station and was only there for 10 minutes at the most and when I left I noticed that the moon closest to the station had been discovered by someone else. I sent the person a message but I'm yet to get a response. Was something bugged or did this person really just warp to the exact same system that I just discovered moments before? Crazy!

Why the hell did they get rid of the stackable items?

My thoughts exactly. Some think it makes the game too easy. I think it makes the game tolerable at the moment.

Hell, at this point, I would pay a few bucks to have either a larger inventory in that you can hold more of one item (like suit becomes 500 a stack, ship becomes 1000) or even for the ability to stack everything. It makes the game more fun for me. I can't be an explorer or trader with shit inventory space.

On a somewhat related note, I just found a huge deposit of irdium on this planet, it goes all they way down to the indestructible layer of the planet. So far, I've mined 5 suit stacks from it and I'm not even close to finishing mining it but I'm about to run out of suit and ship space for more. :/

Yeah the invetory is a joke. I have everything maxed out, but the very nice looking ships can only be bought. If they are aksing me to spend 70 to 100mil for a ship, than give me the abilty to be able to carry more resources instead of having to go and sell items all the time. Boring as fuck. If they want me to stay longer in a system than provide me more activities to do and for sure some more viriaty. Currently it's the same everywhere. At least ever now and then I find a cool planet, but then only to be reminded that the plants, animals etc are the same as in all the other planets I already visited. I even stopped bothering with saving money. The only stackable item I do not have in my inventory is the aqua sphere.

The ID number for the 2.5gb content is also substantially further back than the other two records. like 10,000 records back.

Huh? It's 27xxxx vs 22xxxx

Ummmm...

UUUUUUUUUUUMMMMM

Tell me what's up, Steam DB Specialists reader persons!

EDIT: Hmmmm wait, could that 2.5 GB item just be the actual game?

Yeah I don't know about that. If you check that file entry, it was updated 9 days ago (same time as the last public patch). It's just the "core" file.

Yeah, I realized that too late, before I got excited LOL

Also, didn't you ask me for coordinates for the planet that had that large creature I posted? I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you.

Just re-watched Oblivion last night. Great film, if you can get past Tom Cruise's ego ;-) So many stylistic inspirations from it in NMS though!

Did anybody ever find the giant worm thing in this game?

It's not there. Not yet anyway. Like functioning portals.

Watched The Martian last night too, and felt the same. Stuff like the exosuit voice and the number of Sols.

If base building were anything like that it'd be immense.
It won't be.

Are all crashed ships always +1 of your current ship? My last one is a purchased one with 32 slots, so if that's the case then I should be able to find a crashed 33-slot.

I think there was also a bug with crashed ships as well where you needed to fix the pulse drive to take off as well, which is a pain in the arse to fix. Seems to be fixed though, the last crashed one I picked up took off while the pulse drive was still broken.

PS. Using transmission towers to find crashed ships... what's the option you need to select again? And that exploit with finding unlimited ships with the one tower is fixed now, yeah?

I can't see base building being anything spectacular :/

My reasoning being that currently all of the game mechanics are about forcing you to move around. Adding something that requires you to stay put makes no sense inside of that.

I had no idea that was a bug, and that it's been fixed. Should be easier to jump from ship to ship now. I feel like the pursuit of a 48 slot ship has been holding me back from investing in any upgrades.

So... Aparently there are hidden systems located in the empty inner rim surrounding the Galaxtic Core

https://youtu.be/pn0H2JCf5ik?t=11m10s

Even MORE interesting. They all come with the name "Terminus". A redditor said this about it:

From Latin terminus (“boundary, limit”). Noun[edit]. terminus (plural termini or terminuses). The end or final

The guy who posted the video will be streaming tonight at 10PM central to try and go to those systems.

Rogue Planets maybe? Atlas structures surrounding the center?

Maybe, maybe not.

While I agree, it's not going to be super involved, I don't think in many ways NMS is a bit of a blank slate, and they could add all sorts of things to it. What you could do, for instance, is set up a system of 'mining operations' or factories, which, once established, could add money to your account (via the stock trading terminals). This would encourage both base building and prospecting for new resource rich planets - while still encouraging moving on as you dont need to physically be on them to profit.

Pretty sure it was, at least. It makes sense, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to take off without a pulse drive. And IIRC when I first came across it, it was a massive pain to fix.

Cool. May just be internal game system stuff, but hopefully not!

Yeah, not to mention trying to find some place to sell the resources that's close to where you are gathering them without a decent way point system.

There's a lot that can be improved in the game. I'm willing to wait it out. I still play when I have the chance. Just as of right now, I feel like there's so many missed opportunities and I hope they can make it great in the long run.

So this advertisement just popped up reading the news.

When even the ads for your game are pointing out the complete lack of communication and disregard for the customers you swindled...

Ouch.

I am kinda appreciating to get the galapagos trophy. Last night I was in an mixed planet, with ice, trees, annoying sentinels. Missed 3 animals until I fly with my ship to another part of planet and see some water patches. In general planets show if have water only walking in one place.

What I really wish was more options to custom or change your ship. They talked about building bases but your ship is really your ship. Would be cool if you could walk inside.

From reddit, another cool article about NMS by Jeff Minter. I believe most of people who still playing the game are in similar situation. Playing for the cool ambient the planets offer.

I hope Hello games are aware of the scanning for animals problem. I haven't been able to do it properly since the last update. Every time I get in and out of my ship it resets to all question marks again. It sometimes does it randomly too.

I didn't even know that you had to get 100% fauna scans for that cheevo (shame on me for not checking the list), so I have a ton of planets at 80%. I figured it would be collective scans, like how learning words or meeting aliens just accumulates as you go through the game. I also didn't really put it together that the list of question marks that slowly filled out were about the animals! I guess knowing how few species are actually on a planet is a let down, but whatevs.

Yep. I can definitely relate to the part about feeling like a digital world photographer. I've probably taken more screenshots in NMS than all of my other PS4 games combined. I may not be very good at it but that's a different matter altogether. The game has some absolutely spectacular views and I believe they nailed that classic sci fi feel without a doubt. I do hope they decide to support and update the game long term as they have a great foundation to build on and it would be a shame for them to not completely realise their dream.

Not having a photo mode in the game for PS4 is pretty arse, though. Shouldn't be hard to implement, just let us remove all HUD objects temporarily FFS.

I wasn't aware the game doesn't continue to show your scanned fauna and flora from early planets after awhile. I scrolled back to my early solar systems(prob 10 pages back) on Discoveries, and those planets are blank now.

I was curious and wanted to see again what the animals looked like on my starting planet. Guess that's not happening. Bummer.

My game is all sorts of glitched out. Selecting the path to center on galactic map only shows a line for 3 systems or so and then ends.

Did have a large space battle which was fun. Probably 20 pirate ships attacking the freighter. Only thing that sucked was I accidentally hit the large ship with a laser beam and they all started attacking me. Um, hey mysterious freighter ships, I just took out 12 pirate ships, so clearly I'm on your side.

Overwhelmingly negative? Jeez, I completely get why people are disappointed but you can't deny that it's not a great achievement, it's rare to find a game that does something that's never been done before.

Depends on which way you define achievement.
If you mean Sean Murray managing to usurp Peter Molyneux, then sure, that's a hell of an achievement.
It speaks volumes when Sony are actually giving refunds for a game, even after you play it.

I went into the game with zero expectations and still got disappointed, almost every single system implemented in the game is either broken or underdeveloped.

Yup it's annoying. Guess the people who like it, aren't nearly as vocal

Uhm... they do that for any game if you approach their customer service reasonably and don't have an account history that makes it seem like you are trying to cheat them.

I e.g got a refund for Wolfenstein on PS4 after playing it because I didn't know it's the censored version in my store.

No, I had a run of bad luck where I found 3 or 4 ships in a row that were all fewer slots than my current ship. Everything on that planet was terrible though, so maybe it was just part of the game telling me to move on.
