The blurriness is fixed by downsampling I believe. There's some weird filter shit going over the image that was probably on PS4 and ported over.

This was pointed out already - 60 fps cap is around 35pfs for some, 90 fps as you say.
Set it to max and limit elsewhere.

What's weird is that on my SSD 60 is 60, 90 is 90. But on my HDD (the only drive where the game is playable due to stuttering..dunno why) 60 is 35 90 is 64 etc.

But yea forcing vsync in NCP did the trick, thanks.

Still tryin to clean up the image. Forcing AA through NCP doesn't work.

I've never used DSR do you know the optimal settings?

DSR - Factors - 2x, 4x, etc
DSR - Smoothness - 0%, 33%, 50% etc

Yea. No luck here with AA in AMD drivers either.

No problem :)

Also the fix to blurriness shouldn't be downsampling. Thats like putting bandaid with salt on wound.

Well, I switched from mouse and keyboard to a controller and EVERYTHING is much smoother. There's less stuttering, moving the camera around is smooth, just everything seems much better than it was when I was using the mouse.

Well the ex patch has helped me it seems went from 49 fps to 85 fps and stuttering is almost gone and 1440p, everything high v sync off max fps setting.

Okay, so most of the time it runs fine, but last night the game pretty much ground to a halt a couple of times, so had to restart. It literally slowed and slowed until it was barely moving. No crashes or anything, just unplayable. Gonna see how it goes today after work.

Was it after a few hours of playing? Seems to be a fairly widespread issue, after a couple hours the framerate just TANKS for no reason down to like 5-10 FPS. No way to fix it except restarting.

Just happened to me. Suddenly FPS dropped from 60 down to below 10, for no reason. The GPU also downcloacked by ~400mhz... (temperature was fine ~70°C)
Restarting the game brought everything back to normal.

Just gonna report in that moving it off my SSD to my HDD has done wonders to the game. Maybe it'll help someone else. Just had a fairly long session with no stutters apart from the very beginning. Went to a new solar system and new planets, everything. No stutters. This does not make sense. Also using DSR with 2x native res, definitely cleans up the IQ a bit. Sits at 60 with vsync on in NCP, but for some reason drops to 40 when looking at my ships inventory. That's the only time it dropped besides traveling to a new solar system with the warp drive on.

Where is the save located ? Better to do a back up after each session...

I have no idea... steam cloud?

Please tell me there is a way to get back, I can't go through this again :*(

After playing the game over the last two days amounting in about 8 hours of game play I had a crash. When my PC rebooted and I went back into the game, the "Initialize" Screen came up....

Save file is in c:/users/username/appdata/roaming/hello games

if its still there, could try disabling steam cloud and loading the game up. Then enable and make sure to pull from your harddrive where the save is located.

Try windows + r and then %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\DefaultUser

Oh thank you LAWD.

I loaded past the initialize screen and then went into options and was able to load my last save which put me back to where my game was.

Normally I try to be pretty chill about bugs and such, but I was damn near about to lose my shit with this.

Fucking heart attack over here!

Anyway, just to be 100% sure now.. I do not want to take any chances going forward. If I back up these files:

God forbid something happens, I can just put that folder back and have access to my save games through loading them in-game?

So here what I found

the MAX FPS setting sets the INI file to 160FPS. But, its broken.

At default "max" setting I am having 57fps. However, when I set the INI to an absurd value such as 1000, My game increases from 57fps tp 70fps on my save point.

TLDR: Setting the INI fps value to high values (1000) increased my FPS to 70 (a 10 fps increase). Setting the value at 160 (default) drops my fps to 57fps on the same point. The setting is broken.

Can confirm.
Setting it to 1000 shows as 30 FPS in game settings, but is going over it to my capped 60fps which I get when looking to sky, or ground.

Seems to me my framerate tanks (from locked 60 to around 40-50) when there are effects on the screen, such as using the scanner, standing close to terminals, toxic effects on hostile planets etc.

Anyone else having similar issues?

You were more lucky, mine didn't load my previous save file of 18 hours.

I swear to god they didn't think that people will use the ini setting to set the FOV to 140 (it isn't 140).

Some effects look smaller than the FOV set as this. Also weird artifacing in buildings and space stations.

ed: Some basic AO would be great too if added.

ed: I understood what you've meant :)

That is not what I meant. I meant that putting high values (1000) on the INI gives you a FPS boost.

I had 57fps now I have 70 just by switching the INI from 160 (in game MAX) to 1000

Pretty sure Steam saves your games automatically upon exit to their cloud server.

The biggest frame drops for me happen on planets with water and sometimes when using the multi tool to gather resources.

+1, same occasions. I love barren planets because ther eisn't much going on performance wise.

Ambient occlusion and parallax mapping would be so great to have on PC.

You can force AO through reshade but it's completely shithouse. The depth map is weird as shit.

If they will add I would be happy. The game doesn't want to cooperate with RadeonPro, just Crimson AMD driver profile (but not AA) and thats with MSI afterburned + Rivatruner disabled.

Weirdly, my FPS counter disappeared through steam. Any ideas? Doesn't matter if overlay is on or off

Also, after putting in 30 + hours on PS4, I much prefer the PC version. Smoother, quicker, and I can use the Xbox One S Controller.

edit: Never mind just enabled through GeForce Experience.

AMD people, have anyone of you had luck forcing AA through Crimson profiles? I deleted the Steam profile, pointed to game file directly and I can see AF applied, but can't apply AA.

Thank you

I've been trying various levels and methods of AA via Crimson with no results. AA doesn't seem to be applying as every AA setting I try looks identical.

While this didn't work as well for me as it did for you, I'm now hovering around an average of 40 FPS instead of the 35 FPS I was getting earlier. And that's with turning things up to medium instead of low! So progress, I suppose.

I don't know how much applying AA will really help since most of the egregious jaggies and softness of the image is caused by shader aliasing.

I didn't realize this. Sounds like its probably best to leave AA off and just deal with the jaggies. There are other performance problems to worry about.

anyone using an Nvidia card that's not pascal have tried rolling back to the 362.00 drivers? i don't have the game yet but i decided to stay on 362.00 and all my games work great, it is IMO the last stable driver Nvidia put out

So for various reasons the DSR option is not available in my control panel and I can't set any custom resolutions - what should I use to downsample? 1070 here

Still getting around 22-24 fps no matter what settings I change. Intro always runs at 1 fps too. and takes ages to get in game, and on an SSD to boot.

I almost wanna delete it and re-install, but I'm worried about my save.

My mouse doesn't have a dedicated middle mouse button, just a button 3 and 4.

Because of that I can't drop anything from my inventory.

Other than that, i've been mostly fine with frames, but it's still way too jiddery for my rig (i7-5820K and a GTX 1080 with 16GB of RAM)
