This has been a strange start to the gen. Very high starts for two platforms, with a significant drop in interest for a large part of the year, followed by PS4 acting like a firm market leader.
I'll add this bodes big things for PS4 going into the holidays. A showing like this means the interest is very much there. Waiting for the right software. The holiday season could be very very good for the industry this year.

I must admit the graphical fidelity here is just stunning. Jaw dropping even. And I thought the jump to next gen wouldn't be of sufficient magnitude; and then you have incredible sequences like this.

Whoa, I thought the predictions of 500k + were a bit ambitious, well done by Sony. There's absoluteley no way of determining this, but I wonder what the key driver of the Destiny bundle was; the game or the white console? For me personally it was probably about 30% Destiny, 70% wanted dat white console.

No. NPD directly tracks 90% of the entire video game retail market in the USA.
They include all major retailer networks.
For example, NPD tracks Wal-Mart, walmart.com, Sam's Club, and samsclub.com.

Sorta figured, but I take his stance on hardware sales lightly. For him guessing hardware sales is for entertainment purposes, not much at stake for himself if hes wrong.
