Sure, in 10+ years, possibly. It actually seems like a thing Nintendo would make a game around.
Mario mirror dimension?
Where your reflections are a main gameplay element and you have to solve puzzles using reflections.

Suicide to downgrade the materials - it’d be akin to Sony or MS releasing their next consoles with a HDD.What if Switch 2 comes out without an Oled screen? That would suck so bad. I can't go back after getting the Oled.

groan.
I thought we were starting to get away from those damn Switch Pro or Switch 2 rumours.
I swear the thing didn't even hit shelves back in 2017 and people were talking about a pro.
I was looking u the T239 and saw articles from last year about it prior to Switch OLED release.

Fire Emblem Warriors

2019:
Mario & Luigi

It’s likely that Nintendo consider these 3 years of 3DS support as part of the 3DS’s overall life span.
Therefore it’s reasonable to believe that a Switch 2 could hit by next winter with Nintendo continuing to support the OG for 2-3 years.
Everyone's taking that "Halfway" quote way too goddamn literally. You expect Nintendo at some point to say Switch 90% through iys lifecycle? Of course not, that doesn't sound good for press. You aren't getting a Switch 2 in the next 4 years. Nintendo themselves have said it's halfway through its lifecycle. They may release a Switch Pro (although I don't believe it given we've seen rumours for about 3 years straight) but not an entirely new system that has its own library.
When was the last time Nintendo did something just because it's possible..? When it comes to modern (powerful or impressive) hardware features, I mean. They really don't do stuff just because the fans want them to, or because it "makes sense".The hardware described would be able to do it on a game that i described in my last post.

I really hope so, Switch had terrible specs when it launched. It's launch game dropped to 15 FPS (BOTW). They need more juice. For sure Nintendo are making Switch2.
I think we'll probably get news on it towards the end of the year.
Nvidia is working on a DLSS version of raytracing, according to a patent they filed not long ago.Isn't DLSS done with the Tensor Cores?

The bit that links it to Nintendo is the use of nvn2 when Nvidia uses nvn to refer to the Switch.I see nothing here that shows nVidia is working on a Switch 2.
For those who don't know, nVidia has several SoCs, developed along the years, with most of it's generations of GPUs.
Switch happened to use the Maxwell based. But just because nVidia has one with Ampere, doesn't mean Nintendo will make a console out of it.
If Nintendo does like it said, and the Switch is in the middle of it's life, then there is still 4 years to go.
That means the SoC used by a Nintendo Switch2, if it uses nVidia, would based on something like Hopper, not Ampere.

Yeah no, you never said that, sorry. And you're right, they do want to use technology in creative ways for sure - just rarely when the technology is new, expensive or power focused? What? I never said that they do something just because its possible.
They like using new technologies in creative ways.
Just look at every system they have done in the last 20yrs
If you disagree thats fine, but I think its the sort of thing Nintendo might do, and theres precedent for it, as in they use technologies in creative ways.

Edit for those wondering why I'm saying something that sounds crazy - chip shortages. They aren't going away. The average 7 year hardware cycle is probably not viable right now, shortages mean it isn't worth it to release hardware nobody can buy for exclusive games nobody can play. Not when in 4 years time there could easily be 150m+ Switches in the wild. See also why every major PS5 release this year is on PS4.
You know nothing about hardware though.Future proof? What are you talking about, Nintendo don't even care about 1080p in this day and age. I don't think future proofing has any part in their strategy.
You do realize that successful consoles live past the date the next iteration releases right? If Nintendo sees the Switch as a product they are going to support for 10yrs, that does not equate to them not releasing a console for 10 years. And, even if they do stop production of the OG switch in a year or two (which they might if a new switch is fully BC), they can still support the OG switch via software.
Nintendo is so behind I wouldn’t be surprised if they ignore ray tracing and SSDs.
Nope, they are skipping 9 and going straight to 10.Mario kart 9 confirmed
Not really. There is clearly a new API for a Switch-related device since it is using the nvn name. That is connection so thin...

Great point. And what's different from the 3ds is that Nintendo is likely to follow the same path Sony and Microsoft have. They will do cross gen games for the first 1-2 years. Maybe they'll release a small mount of Switch 2 exclusives, like Sony has done with the PS5, but most will be available on both consoles. So if that is the case then you're right. We could have a Switch 2 in 2024. I hope that's the case. I'm still happy with my OG Switch, but I could use a bit more power.Switch release date: 3rd March 2017.

no SOC is even available in the world for power and better than PS5/XBSX is a fantasy. ohh how much do u want to buy the thing for $1000. Nintendo is best known to take a tech and utilize it in an creative ways. They have the Cheat Code now.(DLSS and RT) lets see what they do with them.I might be in the minority here but I really hope it's not another portable or gimmicky machine. I'm long sick of stuff like waving Wiimotes, huge tablet controllers that devs barely utilise and waving JoyCons around.
I think my Switch has been played in handheld mode twice. And even those times were brief because it was uncomfortable.
Just give me good hardware, in-line with or better than the PS5/XBSX, then slap Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc on it.
In a hand-held, no, it's never going to be close to a PS5/XBSX... I just want the days of a dedicated Nintendo console to return. I agree that Nintendo are creative with the Joycons/Wiimotes etc but it's rare to see 3rd party dev bother with it let alone utilise it to its full extent.no SOC is even available in the world for power and better than PS5/XBSX is a fantasy. ohh how much do u want to buy the thing for $1000. those day of nintendo doing a powerful normal home console are OVER.In a hand-held, no, it's never going to be close to a PS5/XBSX... I just want the days of a dedicated Nintendo console to return. What about the M1 Max? (Though obviously this is Apple exclusive)no SOC is even available in the world for power and better than PS5/XBSX is a fantasy. ohh how much do u want to buy the thing for $1000. Switch has outsold every dedicated console they had, with only the at-the-time underpowered Wii even coming close. Nintendo ain't gonna chase power ever again. In a hand-held, no, it's never going to be close to a PS5/XBSX... I just want the days of a dedicated Nintendo console to return. those are not made specifically for game consoles, and how much do u think they cost. What about the M1 Max? (Though obviously this is Apple exclusive)
