There was a brief moment after Priebus as CoS got announced where it was like "Well, he's incompetent, but at least it's not Bannon!" But we can't have even that.

Bannon and Priebus are going to be at each others throats.

Wonder which one Trump will side with more.

Oh yeah, we are fucked.

The one that was named first in the press release.

So any Trump supporters want to explain why their God Emperor just put a fucking white nationalist conspiracy theorist as his chief strategist or y'all just gonna lurk like cowards?

So much for draining the swamp. These are all Washington insiders and lobbyists. Yeah he drained the swamp alright and then filled it back up with every vile piece of filth and scum that ever crawled out of it.

None of them will come unless their alt account hasn't been banned yet, then they'll just hide and try to get banned on that like what happened the other day on gaming side.

You know, David Bossie has been conspicuously absent from the news recently. I'm surprised that he hasn't been mentioned more, considering his role in Trump's campaign and his position at Citizens United. I think I've seen his name dropped once or twice, but that's it.

It's become predictable seeing juniors with accounts approved 5 years ago and less than 50 posts since then defending bigotry.

So this is shaping up to be just as bad as we all expected.

Good thing Dems didn't turn out. Both parties are totally the same, everybody.

I never in my entire life thought I would ever say this.

Thank fucking god the Federal Reserve is functionally independent of the government.

Because holy shit the things this proposed group of morons and failed politicians would do if given control over interest rates and the money supply.

Masked Man

I said wow
Holy hell, Priebus and Bannon confirmed? The best we can hope for is the two of them ripping each other apart.

Also, I just realized I share a birthday with both Trump AND Arpaio. :(

Just in to #CNN: #Trump has asked for top secret clearance for his adult children and son-in-law reports @Acosta

Which means they are probably getting high level cabinet positions.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Isn't that pure nepotism? Conflict of interest?

...

Just wat.
Of course it is.

When Trump said he wanted to drain the swamp, he meant he wanted to shift tax dollars out of the federal government and into his family's pockets.

My point is, that is allowed in the US?

There are no conflict of interest laws that apply to the President.

No one this rich has ever served as President, and customary rules were only enforced thanks to common decency and a strong public opinion. First one's gone, let's see about the second one.

fucking lol there are no checks and balances with this? wow

As Lime says...

Wow. I mean, it seems checks and balances are the foundation of the US government but they neglect having those for the president?

....

Can i just say the USA is kind of insane thing really.

Congress can't really legislate on the office of the presidency, and the constitution was written when things were a bit more...gentemanly. No one so disruptive has been elected since, and here we are.

What's really insane is that knowing all this, they still chose him.

That's not true, actually. There is in fact a law preventing this. It was passed during the Johnson Administration (the second one) as a middle finger to Robert F. Kennedy, who served as his brother's Attorney General. See 5 US Code § 3110:

(a) For the purpose of this section—
(1) “agency” means—
(A) an Executive agency;
(B) an office, agency, or other establishment in the legislative branch;
(C) an office, agency, or other establishment in the judicial branch; and
(D) the government of the District of Columbia;
(2) “public official” means an officer (including the President and a Member of Congress), a member of the uniformed service, an employee and any other individual, in whom is vested the authority by law, rule, or regulation, or to whom the authority has been delegated, to appoint, employ, promote, or advance individuals, or to recommend individuals for appointment, employment, promotion, or advancement in connection with employment in an agency; and
(3) “relative” means, with respect to a public official, an individual who is related to the public official as father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, or half sister.

(b) A public official may not appoint, employ, promote, advance, or advocate for appointment, employment, promotion, or advancement, in or to a civilian position in the agency in which he is serving or over which he exercises jurisdiction or control any individual who is a relative of the public official. An individual may not be appointed, employed, promoted, or advanced in or to a civilian position in an agency if such appointment, employment, promotion, or advancement has been advocated by a public official, serving in or exercising jurisdiction or control over the agency, who is a relative of the individual.

I was a teen and young adult during the W. Bush administration, and I thought that was a nightmare apocalyptic hellscape I wasn't sure we'd make it out of.

Oh to go back to those days. I am frightened for my country and the world in ways I never thought possible, truly.

Point taken about there being a law, but it doesn't do much other than preventing the President from appointing someone in a governmental agency.

It can be easily circumvented by giving them ad hoc cabinet positions, like Bill did with Hillary when he appointed her as chair of the Task Force on National Health Care Reform.
thx again Hillary
So Barron can't be the head of the CIA, but they could all be "senior advisors".
