This looks amazing
How would she receive benefits from Trump being President? Wasn't really clear in your post.
Sia is apparently matching donations up to $100k to the ACLU right now.

Current system is "hopefully he doesn't go too far".What terrifies me the most is there no checks and balances happening right now. Our entire system is borked.
Congress gets to make law, while these Executive orders exist in a murky grey area. Congress can absolutely overrule Trump here if they choose to.Is that four republicans have now broke ranks? What can congress do to break this order? Can they pass something?

Maybe Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and even Mexico can resettle some of the refugees. Hopefully the rest of the world stands up against this orange turd
I don't have EviLore money, but I set up a recurring $100 donation to the ACLU.
Well, she thought that he was going to help out the veterans, etc.

Yeah I meant more congress wise. The court will have the most immediate short term solution, but yeah outside of that, Congress won't do much. Even with Trump appointing one SCOTUS justice, it won't change the traditional conservative majority. If can appoint one or two more, though. Then that check will go away too.

amazing to think that two months ago the Very Serious Liberal Consensus was Democrats should de-prioritize civil rights to expand their base

You know, in a roundabout way, this might just be a fantastic thing.
A) it kind of stops that ridiculous notion that America or even Western values are innately better than others
and
B) might stop the brain drain not only in those countries directly affected, but in others places that might have seen America as a place of freedom and safety
Instead of the US and the west in general stealing the best and brightest from around the world, they're now left with a shortage of highly trained specialists. And instead of importing cheap labour to do the 'dirty' jobs, low IQ westerners can fill them instead, rather than becoming cops or joining the military as is currently the case.
Meanwhile, all those people who abuse their own countries resources, get educated and then immediately leave for a higher quality of life and more money in the US, are now forced to stay and build up their own societies. American influence declines as they weaken, while the rest of world is strengthened. Win-win.
Republican? good
that's still AWESOME
Guys this entire twitter chain is amazing. Give it some love.
I thought this didn't apply to people who already have valid and approved visas. Did the executive order explicitly say otherwise or is there the possibility of some administrative errors here?

hmmm
Utah may be backwards on a lot of issues, but they love housing those that are persecuted because of their religion for obvious reasons.

The fact that he is drawing an equivalence with Obama's EO tells you enough. He wants to this as a platform to hurl criticism towards a Dem president as if that is his primary role in life. Fuck him.

Just heard unofficially at the JFK protests NYC taxis will be on strike tomorrow. Not sure the legitimacy.
How can the american people just sit there and do nothing?
Last month I actually made a donation to the ACLU not realizing they'd send a neat little package with a booklet and a membership card.
They clarified and said not only does it apply to valid visa holders, but permanent residents too.
Okay, that's pretty fucked up. I had no idea this was so broad. I hope Congress can do something here.
I imagine that goes for visas too.

If this is true then I hope that Uber, Lyft and the other ride sharing apps follow suit so it's not just a cash grab for them.
The NYC Taxi Workers just called for a work stoppage, starting at 6 pm. No pick ups or drop offs to JFK.
