Im sorry, even though that many people are protesting out in the street might be good people with honest intentions.

But the people who brought this Otakupy Wall street are the same type or people (who i call motherfuckers) who brought Crunchyroll into existance. The same sick souls.

I know who started the Tea Party. Rick Santelli and Karl Dennerger. Those two. It was a truly honest attempt. But the Koch brothers took it over for the own racist ends. Thats understandble considering there long history.

But Otakupy wall street is the same bs that railroaded the Civil Rights movement and the War Movement in the 60's. Its the left brother man trying to get what the right brother man has plus getting the next IPad, Plus getting a good looking Hipster Chicky to fuck.

Im not trying to be racial but how is it that NOW people are protesting poverty? I been in and out of work for years and now that the Hipster cant get his new IPOD and his Asian Cartoon Porn he gonna start protesting? Dont fucking kid me. I know where these fuckers come from. Same Place that brought us the bronies, same idiots that protected Crunchyroll.

Im not fucking supporter of the facisists either. I just see where its gonna end up. First dude comes out with his new idea of saving this country and hes gonna be elected in a snap. It dont matter if hes anti-freedom on everything else. People only know tyrrany if not in a larger sense but in a smaller one.

No Collective will ever succeed in anything, no matter if its the Tea Party or the Otakupyers. All you need was yourself. End of story.

Though the rest of this post is a little nuts, this paragraph brings up an interesting angle on OWS and how it's positioned in the larger race politics dialog in this country.

I was chatting with a black friend last week, and the conversation topic turned from race relations to OWS. He made a comment about how his assertion is that the majority of the protesters are white, which made me remember the chart about the protester demographics from earlier this page that confirmed his suspicions. I pressed him for his thoughts behind this; his position was that the economic injustices OWS has been protesting against have essentially been par for the course in minority communities, particularly the black community, since before our generation was born.

Anyone else here from the black community have any thoughts on this? Is this a common perspective amongst blacks in regards to the OWS movement?

Never posted these. I visited Zucotti Park on Sunday. Very fascinating mix of people, and an obscene amount of cops basically standing around.

Also interesting, they have a cop stationed in a huge perimeter around the park guarding every ATM, bank entrance, etc. There were an obscene amount of tourists in the area. I've never seen so many tourists.

They were also filming Dark Knight while I took these pics on Wall Street itself, which was interesting.

I like how he calls it Otakupy wallstreet. Because it means that Occupy Wall Street is mainly Otakus. See?

Best part about that dude is he had prime real estate. He was standing on the NW corner of the park, elevated a few week, in full view of all the passing tourists. You'll also notice the sign next to his has some interesting things to say about Yaz birth control pills.

I know that the Occupy movement is all about inclusiveness and community, but can we at least move all the batshit insane people into one area and then quietly tell the people observing that we aren't associated with them?

Infowars, what a fucking joke.

I had to google crunchyroll. Looks like a site to watch anime on. I'm no anime fan, but why is that so bad and why are people sick souls from developing it?

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2011...ing-after-occupy-group-splatters-blood-urine/

Maybe we should find it flattering to be blamed for everything going on around us. At least that means people are paying attention to us, right?

The most recent issue has stemmed up from two local businesses operating in the Civic Center plaza – Centre City Coffee Cart and Brooklyn Dogs. Apparently in the last couple of weeks both have shut down, and both are blaming Occupy San Diego as the reason for doing so.

City Council member Carl Demaio decided to hold a fundraiser at Downtown Johnny Brown’s for these two businesses to help them re-open their businesses.

The whole thing seems fishy on many levels. Many of us were told, but were unable to confirm, that the coffee cart was already doing very poorly as a business and had received rent relief well before Occupy San Diego began. Here, Linda Jensen, the owner of the coffee cart, complains about her issues at the Civic Center in 2008 by responding to a City Beat article titled “Being neighborly” [“The Front Lines,” March 26].

We are not sure why we are being blamed for both the hot dog stand and the coffee cart closing, we can only imagine. The claims are that they have received threats from us and are scared to be around us in the plaza. We do not understand this as most of us actually wish both carts would reopen so we could buy coffee and hot dogs from them.

Last night our media team made an attempt to speak with Carl Demaio about the situation but we were blatantly ignored over and over, and kept at a distance from him as much as possible by some of his “companions” and/or bodyguards.

Oh shit USA
Proofs my suspicion that the whole system is corrupt, from the economic cirisis in 2008 to the support of Israel to the shitty health care. I'd say we confront them now they're still in one place, the people of France had to do ton of work to find their former elite after the revolution.

He makes some really good points, especially the bit about having a national conversation about what role the police are supposed to play.
If you are interested in academic discourse on the role of police in society, I'd recommend reading Foucault's Madness and Civilization.

I've gone ahead and found (Googled) some quotes and interpretations of his work that may resonate with some posters here. No substitution for reading the book, however.

The central task of police has also been to thwart and foil the possibility of revolution, the possibility of transgressing the order of capital: “For the bourgeoisie the main danger against which it had to be protected, that which had to be avoided at all costs, was armed uprising, was the armed people, was workers taking to the streets in assault against the government” (ibid.16).

Foucault’s account of police stresses the absolutist uses of police power. ‘Police is the direct governmentality of the sovereign as sovereign’, Foucault states, ‘police is the permanent coup d’etat’. Because the sovereign and specifically absolutist dimension of police science and police power is so heavily emphasized, the liberal revolution in law and in economics is presented as a negation of police, rather than as a revision or modification of police techniques.

I should clarify when Foucault says "police" he is referring to the mechanisms of "policing" whichever form that may take.

Yeah the truther bit might compromise a few people who might have otherwise been accepted as totally rational. There's probably nothing wrong with what he's saying now, and 9/11 was pretty outrageous and got people to think and do and say some things. It's cognitive dissonance to disconnect both sides though. It's basically people latching onto the idea that they are liars, and guess what..it turned out that they were. They were looking for any excuse, some outlandish, some in my opinion sensible if addressed. I'm willing to ignore whatever he said unless it was completely beyond the pale.

Does America’s 99 percent represent the top 1 percent on Earth?

Some critics of the 99 percenters argue that they are still better off than 99 percent of the world’s population. “In America, you are the 99%, but in the rest of the world, you are still the 1%,” reads one image that’s been making the rounds, juxtaposing the protesters with starving African children. Occupy Wall Street’s logic, by extension, should mean that the entire United States should redistribute its wealth globally. But is the 99 percent in the United States so well off compared with the rest of the world?
