October 2015 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes November 10th

Amazon best sellers for November is showing up and its been dominated by all of Playstation consoles.

I know its too early to call anything as its only been a few days but they are only going to go up from here on end.

Unless Xbox One gets a price drop PS4 is going to win November. At the price it doesn't stand much of a chance and the more attractive Xbox One bundles are actually more expensive.

Given the games Sony are bundling/marketing I doubt a price cut would even change that much unless it's substantial (like $299) and I seriously doubt MS is interested in dropping their price again after the demand flat lined after their "limited price drop" last year

Last holiday MS had that very good bundle with AC 4 and Unity that sold shitloads. I thought MS would do a 399$ or even a 349$ Halo 5 and MCC bundle this holiday, that would sell like crazy imo.

People are discussing November NPD already? October is not a given yet, both consoles have a chance of winning October.

Well at least Sony won't be scraping the bottom of the barrel for their Nov statement this year.

To be fair, we really don't know how November will turn out. COD and Battlefront will be gigantic, but that doesn't guarantee the PS4 a sales victory in November -- especially when you factor in the Black Friday wildcard. Sony might have to borrow the PR artists that Microsoft have.

It's a good sign it took so long.
I am sure October is interesting enough to keep us mainly concentrated of it.
Halo PR thread is part of it for me. You can see by the reactions how PR works and why it's so helpful. You cannot seperate this from sales.
Also, it's amusing.

Black Friday is huge, but we must remember that Sony has bundles for two biggest games if year, CoD and Battlefront. And those sell most in first days they are out. Though I'm sure MS will offer those games with their consoles as plus one game too. Interesting month.

It started actually, MS already created their own CoD bundle, you'll get free game if buy XBO in the period of Nov 6-8, most retailers are participating in this.

With TR not having a bundle available on Amazon, this is saddening.
Also, I just cannot understand it TR is so unappealing in the US. It looks good, has action, you can shoot arrows through throats...

Plenty of games don't appeal to the US market for some reason, the US prefers FPS games and Europe prefers RPGs or third person action adventure. The US prefers Madden while Europe prefers FIFA, the US doesn't like racing Sims while it's one of the biggest genres in Europe.

Why is EU so superior?

Tomb Raider's biggest audience is in Europe and on Playstation (and I guess maybe PC?) so Microsoft promoting it like I'd promote a dump I just took is weird but not unexpected.

But I think not expecting it to make the top 10 is kind of insane. Are there 10 individual skus you can name that would get ahead of it?

They really should promote it in Europe too, they don't have too much sales here. So it is worth a try to gain more ground with Europe focused games, since already have exclusivity deal anyway.

They didn't do much marketing for Halo here in Germany, i doubt there will be much of a push for TR.

Their idea is to make Xbox more attractive to the European market.

Halo is irrelevant in continental Europe, while it's Tomb Raider's strongest market. It would make sense if they advertise Tomb Raider more than Halo there.

But then isn't the absence of a TR bundle in the UK (birthplace of Eidos of all things!) rather surprising?

Halo is not irrelevant in continental europe. It might not be as big as in the UK/US but it's still the biggest Xbox game around. If it were irrelevant it would bomb in the Pal charts similiar to SO.

NPD combines all SKUs so it probably won't be top 10.

It has a better chance with combined SKUs, otherwise the chart will be 4 SKUs of CoD, and 2 SKUs of each Battlefront, Fallout, and Madden.

Expect to see FIFA, Madden, NBA 2K, Minecraft and possibly some other kiddie game like Skylanders on that list. It could possibly squeeze in at the bottom depending on what kind of legs games like AC Syndicate and MSGV have.

That's nothing With ps4 being in the cod commercial. Most importantly Ps4 getting Dlc 1st will be a factor.

Halo 5 and Ass Creed's month 2 sales will most likely be higher than TR's debut month sales.

I had already forgotten about Halo 5(don't even know how that is possible considering the last week's topics)! I knew I was leaving something out. Probably unlikely, but I wonder if GTA5 could somehow make the cut.

Leaving the chart or barely making it in the second week isn't strong in any standard, let alone a big AAA game.

http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=501430

Week 47 was third week halo 4 was out.

Going by your definition every XB1 game not COD or Fifa must be irrelevant. Halo is still the biggest Xbox exclusive and will be stronger than TR (which wouldn't wonder me if it didn't even chart in the top 5). Let's not pretend TR will somehow be more important to Xbox than Halo. Especially with Fallout releasing on the same week (And ironically getting more xbox marketing than TR and H5 combined).

Yes, that was the idea but they only made players angry at the deal itself and the shady attitude they had over the details of the deal.

Most people don't pay attention to this stuff, if the game is big enough, the market will respond favorably to that exclusive deal, regardless of the anger on Internet forums or social media.
