Microsoft made a mistake choosing the 1TB console for new bundles.

The standard bundle for holidays is with Gears Ultimate, a remaster/remake of a 2006 game that is out since august. Last year the standard bundle was much better with two Assassin's Creed including a new one.

Bundles with Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Holiday w/ 3 games at $349 and $299 on BF would be much better.

Wouldn't that clash with their "greatest lineup in Xbox history" though? Gears is supposed to be part of that so I guess they wanted to prioritize that over Fallout. It may also serve to push as much Gears as possible since Gears 4 will be their big holiday title next year.

Gears 4 would be good... but Gears Ultimate isn't exactly a appealing game for the holidays. Sony has Uncharted Collection bundle, but their big bundle is with Battlefront, a new and very anticipated game.

Yeah, I agree, but I am just looking at it from MS' perspective of this being their greatest lineup in Xbox history. Of course, the way Tomb Raider is being handled throws it all out of wack.....

LOL, I didn't mean on a month by month basis, man. Overall, the US does contribute slightly more than a third of the PS4's global sales, but it does come close enough if you just count it as a third. Of course 36% may be more accurate, but I did say quite accurate :p

Edit: Also, if you look at those numbers, the percentages contributed by the US seems to be gradually going down.

Don't know where to post this, and not sure it's been posted, but Sony seems to be taking a page out of Microsoft.

Free Fallout 4 with purchase of the nathan drake collection, and you get a charging station too, for good measure.

Knew they would do something like this. THey also did this with Madden early this year. Makes a lot of sense and should keep PS4 sales up. Wonder if amazon will follow suit?

Looks like Microsoft is going with the 'Buy an Xbox, get ANY game free' strategy to combat Sony marketing deals. I assume we'll see the same with Battlefront?

I noticed this week, at Best Buy, if you buy a PS4, you get Fallout 4 and a Charging Stand for free. Looks like Sony is going to play that same game that MS is. Pack in that free game that the competitor has exclusive marketing for.

MS will do the same thing when Battlefront launches, just watch.

Yea they will. With these deals though it's only for the launch week right?

These measures to combat an exclusive bundle has become a standard for Sony and Microsoft.

Funny thing is that unofficiall bundles are often more interesting because you get the target game plus other game (or games) of the chosen bundle.

Why buy marketing rights when you can just bundle the game with your console anyway.

Oh yeah, it will just be launch week. I bet they already have the sales ads printed for it. Buy and Xbox One, get Star Wars Battlefront free. It will happen.

We will have to wait and see if they do anything like that for Black Friday. Probably just "get a game of your choice free" or they will simply stick with their bundles without adding game, but adding gift cards or a small price discount (approx $50).

Lol, I know you were saying that tounge in cheek. But I think having the games art all over your console box, especially during Holiday Season, in addition to all the commercials with your console logo all over it, is probably worth it in the long run.

And with Sony having this with Star Wars, is on a whole different level. Just look at how Star Wars is being associated with PlayStation 4. That bundle is preordering like crazy it appears. And to have your kid open up a PS4 for Christmas with Star Wars art all over the box, that is a pretty awesome Christmas morning presentation.

Bonus is that the free games in these unofficial bundles count towards NPD.

For what it's worth (Amazon hourly), I am surprised that the GeoW XB1 bundle never (afaik) overtook the PS4 COD bundle between yesterday and today.

I mean, Amazon had an equivalent bundle to other offers that were put in place at many retailers this week end (sinceFriday I think) to counter the COD bundle, aka a $50 gift card and a free game of your choice on top of the bundle.

Now the offer is still valid (ends today I believe), but the bundle is going down visibly in rankings after being up toward #15-ish (already in the 21+ page).

If Abdiel is around, I wonder if he had the same experience in store? (we really appreciate your feedback and very much realize that November will not be a fun month for you btw).

Where is that Gamestop guy from NYC?

the tomb raider pre orders are not that good, but not that bad as well, we have (at my store) 28 pre orders for the game but idk how the rest of my district looks, however its beating fallout 4 on XB1 the ps4 version of fallout 4 is beating out ROTR By 10 pre orders but in the next few days that can all change

Wow, that is just crazy. I know that Black Friday can/will change everything, since that day will basically win the month. However, it appears there will apparently be price parity this month. And with PS4 dominating those sales charts like that, and with October and September PS4 preorders for COD and Battlefront Bundles unaccounted for, November is shaping up very nice for Sony!

Guys, Black Friday is probabily >50% of November sales, but if PS4 sells 500k and XB1 two unit for the firsts 3 weeks, i doubt Black Friday can change something... ( i know is extreme, but if a example)

That said, with the Star Wars bundle and PS4 at $299, i think PS4 will win Black Friday. And for the first time ever since launch in the US.

XB1 so far alwasys won BlackFriday in both 2013 and 2014. ( but in 2013 it won because PS4 was sold out )

Yeesh. I know it's early but damn. With BF pretty much have price parity. Seems most retailers are going $299 for both consoles. It really just comes down to how many games you can bundle with the system.

And people buy the official bundles. lol

Welp, at least I can understand when console is customized.

Holy shit. I forgot Tomb Raider existed. Is that being sent to die or what?

Quite much yeah, if we look at the suggested Halo 5 sales. It has some tough opponents to beat. D'ishOA.

I mourn the loss as I though TR:DE was awesome and I know I could not be arsed a year later anymore.

huh never saw it that way

Heh. I saw it like Sony set a trap to MS. They finally released the trap and moved UC4 to beat the spring sales, leaving MS pants down as they don't have anything else for the holidays. :)

I think this is the normal release schedule for Microsoft. They have mostly kept their holidays stacked with exclusives whereas Sony mostly lack a strong exclusive in there holidays. Sony had a terrible drive club least holiday or little big planet 3.

Im sorry but I find this entire post incredibly difficult to believe.

I take Opt1kon_'s post on the same level as anecdotal evidence. He has all the time in the world to build a reputation and neither we nor him should hurry.

Sure they are.

If no one picks the game up, they aren't.

Edit: The point I'm trying to make is, we don't need numbers for it to make sense. We just need to see which game has more demand currently PS4 FO4 has more demand for obvious reasons over XB1 version but RoTTR can have more demand that FO4 version because it is more genre oriented on XB1 instead of an RPG.
