Ferrari fucked atm.

Retire Raikkonen, get a free engine and gearbox change for Malaysia without a penalty.. or he pushes it and gets 2 points.

DRAMA!!

Hamilton drove very well. Until Kovalainen fucked up on the 2nd last lap on the last turn allowing Alonso to ream him from behind without lube, McLaren had the best cars on the track in regards to the heat.

troubles with car.

It almost looked like kovalinen slowed because he thought it was the last lap, oh well good for Alonso.

I was 1 for 3 in my podium predictions, I picked Rosberg for third.

Great race, looking forward to the rest of the season.

What a nice race, that gives high hopes for a really good season. Also happy to see Rosberg and Williams on the podium!

Drama all round, but Hamilton definitely deserved the victory.

EDIT: Yep, Hamilton deserved it, it was clean race from him.

Kimi got what he deserved, too much mistakes. But i hope he will do better in Malyasia.

Poor Kimi :(.....certainly not his best race, hopefully he can bounce back in Malyasia if Ferrari reliability does not let him down again

flawless performance from Hamilton though.....i really think now that he is the next Schumacher

insane race though, no traction control really adds some spice and i support them continuing with the ban even if it hurts my team (wtf? Massa, spinning out in the first corner)

onwards to Malaysia.....only a week away :D

WOW!!
I've never seen so many retired cars :lol

And Kimi nearly gave me a nerve breakdown. 3rd place... and off to the sand. I was really hoping for a Kimi vs Hamilton duel.
I'm also very glad Alonso had a good race. The car was obviously slower than the other cars and he didn't get any breaks there. Fantastic driving by him.
Next time show more of Lewis. Even if he was first, his times were amazing. I wanted to see more of him. Was he even shown for more than 2 minutes?

Insane race. Hopefully we'll see a more clean race at Sepang next week.
Kimi made some bad decisions, but it wouldn't have mattered in the end anyway. Oh well, at least he's got a new car for next week. Massa was all over the place, Coulthard must be pissed. Tough luck for Kovalainen as well with the pitstop and the safety car.

This is the first race without Todt. The performance this weekend was embarrassing. I give Domenicali 4 races to sort this out.

Kimi had epic brain fade today and for a time looked to have lost his mojo at Turn 3. He did the same exact mistake against Glock that he did on Friday. Schoolboy error.

Massa is quite obviously a muppet without TC, that was predictable based on his shitness when it rains.

Rubens was awesome today. Alonso is a cunt but he was also like the sly fox of old, great performance.

The engine issue is seriously troubling. That shit will take 3-4 races to fix at the very earliest.

I think (hope) there are upgrades for Malaysia, Felipe hinted as much.

Happy to see the Silver Ferrari's didn't take a 1-2. Not much else you can say about today. Can't even remember the last time both our cars DNF'ed.

Q: So, Kimi what went wrong today ?

K: [laughs] Well this is what happens when you try too hard.

Heikki Episode:
"The Safety Car had us over this time, but anyway we maximised our efforts after that and I managed to pass Fernando, but then I just accidentally hit the pitlane speed limiter on the straight as I was trying to take my tear-off visor off," he told UK broadcaster ITV.

^ Agree with all of that.

And this just in...Barrichello disqualified...Kimi now p8, gets the 1 point.

And Bourdais, very impressive with the old Toro Rosso, moves up, now gets 2.

I would not blame all he's troubles for TC. Mass must be feeling tremendous mount of pressure. He's only option is pretty much to be world champion or he can say goodbye for he's career in Team Ferrari. It really seems that he is trying too hard and therefore he makes whole lot of mistakes.

But yes, he also has lots of troubles driving without TC, i admit that.

Nakajima will be penalised in next race:
Williams rookie Kazuki Nakajima will take a 10-place grid penalty in Malaysia for colliding with Robert Kubica's BMW in the final safety car period during the Australian Grand Prix.

It was an entertaining race to watch, I missed alot of what happened... couldn't hear the commentary. Even though only 7 cars finished most of the crowd loved it because it was an action packed race, and the safety cars made it abit more bareable because it kept bunching the cars up.

Kimi drove well today, though he did make a few mistakes it was ultimately his machine that let him down. When kimi over took Kovalainen, there was a massive cheer from the crowd, only to be followed by a "ooowwwww".

Hats off to Lewis, he drove well within his limits today, pushed when he needed too, especially at the start and after the safety cars.

I think that this is the first GP i've attended where it didn't rain. Today it was 39C (in the city), the past 3 days have been pretty hot for march, and i'll do it all over again next year. Just hopefully it'll be alot cooler, going to be mid-25's next week!

Be thankful you don't live in Japan. For today's commentary team, the whole event was the 'Nakajima Super Race - EXCITE!', which may have occasionally included a word or two about some of the other drivers. I felt as though I was watching the shopping channel, with these two Japanese guys trying to sell me their New-Race-Driver product. I don't care how clean my floor will be, I'm not buying Nakajima!

Anyway, even though I wasn't in the UK last year, I can imagine ITV's commentary team was much the same with Hamilton.

Overall, a pretty good race. Dispappointed to see so many fail to take the chequered but that's Melbourne for you. Can't wait to see Kimis fight back next weekend.

My race report:

McLaren - Fastest car on the grid. Kov drove well enough. He'll play a good support role for Lewis's WDC campaign. I know it's early, but this is the team to beat. I see Schumacher-esque numbers being put up this season. DefinitelyConsidering he no doubt had more performance in reserve, there was no way the Ferraris would have hung with Lewis today. Great pole, great win and great start to the championship. 9 points clear of his main rival is a great way to go into Race 2. :)

Ferrari - Lulz. Massa really did biff it in grand style today, didn't he? Simply amazing. Kimi tried his best to outdo him too, but inevitably stuffed it off the road and Massa sailed clear. :lol They'll be back at Malaysia where they always run strong. But I don't see them catching McLaren until we return to Europe. I'm more concerned with Brawn's absence than Todt's. The mechanical probs seem a fluke to me. I just don't think they know what to do with race strategy anymore, and it's goes back to qualies and practice even.

BMW - Kubica cry moar. Actually, I feel bad for him. Some bad fortune today. He'll bounce back. OTOH, Heidfeld comes from nowhere to get 2nd. And he had decent pace too. I expect them to get a few wins this season. I don't think they have the team management to coordinate a real challenge in either championship, though. :(

Williams - Man, did Nico look happy or what? Hammy looked really glad for him too. Congrats on your first podium, young man. I don't think you'll be seeing this end of the finishing order again for a long time. Williams is still crap. Podium by attrition, though I won't take anything away from Nico's great drive.

Renault - That car is a dog. It's like the first years after Renault bought Bennetton and the car was a real turtle on straights. Flav and the boys must be going back to the fundamentals and tuning a great chassis before building a better powerplant. It's gonna be a lot of fighting just for a few points this season. Alonso at his best. :)

The rest... "We didn't finish the race."

Crazy race, but I enjoyed it. Lewis Hamilton is the real deal. It must suck that he can develop and setup a car without Alonso, b/c that team is gonna be on top for a very long time. McLaren with reliability? Isn't that the biggest fear of the rest of the grid for decades? It's a reality now, ladies and gentlemen. I'm calling it now. :) Silver Arrows Future. PEACE.

According to Steve hasn't-got-a-fucking-clue Ryder, Lewis is the man to bring peace to the middle east, cure Cancer and AIDS; and will solve world poverty. On the other hand Blundell thinks that he drove like a world champion today, and that he now has seventeen more chances to win the world championship. Given that today wasn't a chance to win the world championship and nor will most of those other seventeen races the man is clearly a gibbering idiot.

Having said that, I like Lewis, his car control is utterly astonishing - his pole at Silverstone last year was staggering, we were watching from luffield, and on his final hot lap you could see he was faster than previous - and anybody else - car right on the limit, faintest hint of oversteer drift and millimeter perfect line. Stunning stuff.

Ferrari had a bad race but to start calling a McLaren dominance is crazy. Ferrari is still the fastest out there and some of the best minds out there to fix their problems. The circumstances of the race favoured the McLarens, nothing more.

Steve Ryder is so far gone that we have to witness the sight of Mark Blundell try and provide some balance to the proceedings. Mark Blundell, the ex-driver what can't speak propa.

This is why I want F1 Digital+ back. Ben Edwards' commentary is simply a cut above the rest, best commentator after Walker. No bias, genuine delivery.

Australia 2003? 2005? 2006?

Brazil 2003?

Hungary 2003?

Bahrain 2005?

China 2005?

Silverstone 1996?

Magny-Cours 1996?

Today, was just plain embarrassing. To have neither car finish, the driver mistakes and the fact that a win never looked possible after twenty seconds. I just thought the team looked like it missed John Todt. Bring on the next race though because Ferrari will not allow another repeat performance.

Is there any chance for rain in Malaysia? I would like to see Massa driving in the rain without TC. I predict it will be like Swan Lake on race track.

Apparently 60% chance. Usually 50-50 there at this time of year.

Lap times today, and practice this week hasn't supported this argument. Winter testing is one thing, but they never put all the bits on the car until the first race. And even now, we're not gonna see the real racing packages until they return to Europe. I don't want to jump the gun, but has McLaren put a foot wrong yet? Besides cheating, they've not shown any willingness to slow down. OTOH, Ferrari's performance seems to have only slipped further since Schumacher's departure.

That and I'm fully on the Hamilton hype train. Been driving this bandwagon since Melbourne last year. So I guess I'm just a slight bit biased. ;) PEACE.

Give it a rest, they already got the big check-over and were cleared for the season.

Great race, was expecting a downer after the awesomeness that was last year, very re-assured to see both BMW and Williams fighting it out with McLarens.

I missed this because I was watching football. Goddamnit. Sounds like I missed quite a race. Never mind, I'm dling now, 2.5% done. :(

Finally got to see the race on Speed this afternoon.

Lewis drove well. Great job! Hekki's brain fade on the straight was :lol

Another amazing drive by Alonso. Gives you an idea as to how good he is. That Renault is a POS and look how controlled it despite having a Mclaren behind him.

And Nico. I'm so envious of this fucker, in many ways than one. :lol

Felt bad for Rubens, he ( and honda) really deserved some points.

I agree, Rubens is one helluva driver but Honda's poor performance has done lot of harm to he's reputation. Barrichello > Button and this will be proven in this season.
