Don't scoff at the Orioles. They've been playing good baseball lately.

Buck Showalter isn't the problem, illogical hatred of the Yankees be damned.

The Orioles problem is in its ownership/general management.

Can't win shit with no pitching, no pen, and no hitting outside of Markakis/Wieters/Jones and the eternally-injured Roberts.

The pitching will catch up to the bats eventually if they play their cards right, though...same is true of the Royals.

Fixed it up a bit. Buck is so, so, so awful at his job.
Yeah, he's not good. Kevin Gregg closing all year when he's had Koji and Jim Johnson. Vlad batting cleanup the entire season, even though he can't play anymore. Kept Reynolds at 3rd base when it's clear he can't play it.

And the rumors of him moving into a front office role are scary.

Thankfully I've only been here a few months so I can't fathom what's been said. I honestly felt like going out and buying a Cliff Lee jersey this morning and I loathe the Phillies.

I'll never forgive the Rangers for playing their World Series against the evil Yankees, and then deciding the job was done since they played spoiler.

Unfortunately, cutting the Rangers down means supporting the LAAAAAAAAAAA. Just can't do it, bros.

Indeed. I don't like the Rangers ... but I can't fucking STAND the Angels. I don't think the Angels have a chance to catch up anyway ...

Braves lineup tonight vs. Chris Capuano

1. Bourn - CF
2. Jones - 3B
3. Freeman - 1B
4. Uggla - 2B
5. McCann - C
6. Diaz - RF
7. Prado - LF
8. Gonzalez - SS
9. Lowe - P

On 8/26, Capuano threw a complete-game, 2-hit shutout against the Braves in Citi Field, recordining 13 strikeouts and walking nobody. It was the game where the Braves had to travel back to their hotel and pack their shit to bolt from Hurricane Irene after the game. Because of this, the Braves didn't get to take batting practice.

Any Rangers fans that dislike Cliff Lee are just butthurt he didn't re-sign with them. Every person with common sense knows they don't even get out of the first round without Lee.

Should we hang a banner for getting out of the first round?

Considering the general futility of the Texas Rangers for decades, yes.

You should be proud of one of the most successful seasons in the history of the franchise. Not shun and pretend it didn't happen because you didn't win the trophy in the end.

I'm proud of the guys who stuck around despite Cliff Lee choking and then running out of town as fast as he could.

We've been over this. He had one bad start in all of 2010 playoffs. That is not "choking". You brought up the comparison to Lebron who actually did choke in the 4th quarter pretty much every game in the finals while Cliff Lee had one bad outing and one good outing.

Also I live in Texas. Pretty much every person that follows baseball here and is a Rangers fan doesn't hate Cliff Lee for the one bad start he had after helping them to their first World Series.

Oh god...Im looking at my begining of season predictions....ughhhh! lol

Cliff Lee sucks.

Fuck Cliff Lee for not signing with the Yankees.

Fuck Cliff Lee's wife for being too fancy to deal with hecklers in the opposing stands.

Fuck Trader Jack for not making the correct trade (Montero+ for Lee) just to save MLB from a hypothetical Yankee repeat.

Fuck swag. Wolf gang.

Steve Goldman of Baseball Prospectus predicted:

East champ: Braves
Central champ: Reds
West champ: Giants
Wild card: Phillies
Champion: Phillies

Look at the rest of the "experts" predictions for this season:

And we do not even get paid to be wrong. We do it for free.
Didn't one person on that list (possibly while very high) pick the Astros?

Theres always that one unexpected team to make the playoffs *ahem diamondbacks* and he was probably just praying for a right pick lol.

I am so glad I missed it. Reading it this morning was bad enough.
It's fun watching him trying to explain that Lee is shit.

Now the entire thread is shitting on the Rangers. Pisses me off.
Not at all bro, I'm just laughing at Branduil.

Steve Berthiaume
East champ: Red Sox
Central champ: White Sox
West champ: Rangers
Wild card: Yankees
Champion: Red Sox

East champ: Braves
Central champ: Astros
West champ: Giants
Wild card: Dodgers
Champion: Braves

Haha. He picked the Giants. What an idiot.

The Astros looked really, really good in the second half of last year. But Chris Johnson, Brett Wallace, J.A. Happ, Brett Myers, and Brandon Lyon all sucked miserable ass this year. I expected them to be a .500 team this year.

He had the Astros winning the central and the Phillies not making the playoffs... Wat

I had the D-Backs in last. To be honest, I still don't understand how they are in first.

/EastCoastBias
I dont really understand it being in the same division. Giants all got injured at the same time near end of season and got really cold offensively. But that doesnt explain why the Diamondbacks are doing that well...

You have to be an absolute asshole at life to not think Doc, Hamels, Lee, Oswalt
(well when baseball isn't #5 on his list of the most important things in life) would get you a WC berth at the minimum. In the NL, on top of that.
