Wow, rockets got lucky that time. Hunter looked like he wanted to cry... Missing the put back to win the game. Ouch.

Today's win without AI and Webber including a 4th quarter comeback has shown me a lot about this team. Continues the winning streak to season high *sob* 4 games, but also keeps them ahead of Cleveland and NJ in playoff hunt. Oh man, the game on Tuesday is going to be huge with Celtics coming here as Iverson AND Webber return. Sixers win that and they're only ONE game back of 1st (with 4 to play) in the Atlantic and a chance to sky rocket from 7th to 3rd. My blue Igoudala jersey can't get here soon enough (2-3 weeks from NBA store! what's up with that?).

Including a 1 pt loss to the Magic in a game they controlled. I bet they'd like that one back :lol

:lol That result ticked me off...I honestly figured their playoff hopes were toast fter that result. Yet somehow they managed to blow by the Magic in the standings anyway. :lol

Nearly 20 minutes after the Mavericks' 88-81 victory over the Jazz was completed, witnesses said Stackhouse was standing in the tunnel that leads to the Utah team bus talking to his wife. Accounts varied on what happened next. But this much is certain: Stackhouse and Utah rookie Kirk Snyder, who exchanged words during the game, quickly came to blows.

Mavericks officials and security guards were still piecing together information late Saturday night. But there were reports that the fight lasted up to 40 seconds. Security officials from all over American Airlines Center rushed to break up the confrontation, and there were reports that Stackhouse knocked Snyder to the ground at one point.

The Mavericks said they were continuing to investigate and would not issue a statement until they were clear on what happened. The club did leave a voice mail with the league office early this morning to let it know about the altercation.

The league will conduct its own investigation. Historically, the NBA office levies fines and/or suspensions in these matters.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban met with three other club officials before emerging from an office shortly before midnight.

"Something happened," Cuban said. "Stack said he was defending himself. It started in the game. He was there with his wife.

"All we know is something happened. We're hearing varying stories. There is really nothing to say until we investigate it further and see what happens."

An irate Stackhouse was escorted back to the locker room by teammates Josh Howard and Michael Finley. Jazz coach Jerry Sloan was informed of the fight by a reporter upon leaving the Utah locker room. He rushed to the team bus, where he and the rest of the coaching staff pulled the rookie off the bus.

Snyder was bleeding as he spoke to Sloan. Afterward, Sloan declined to say much other than Snyder told him he was not the guilty party.

Mavericks fans plead the case of Dirk Nowitzki as he hits the floor during a game in which 62 fouls were called.

This isn't the first incident for Snyder. Nearly two weeks ago, he was removed from a game against Houston when he began taunting the Rockets' bench. Sloan apologized to the Rockets and informally suspended Snyder for Utah's next game.
Looks like Snyder got what he deserved. Hopefully Stack's suspension isn't for too long though. :-(

Oh well, injuries killed us more or less this year. That and the godawful Cuttino Mobley trade.. which of course lead to an injury and ties back into the first point. It's probably better if we don't make the playoffs anyway as it will give us a chance to draft another decent young guy to go with Howard and Nelson and build on our improved season.

Yeah, I'm willing to bet decent coin that Stack did what he had to do...no one wants to start shit when his wife is there. But if someone else decides to start shit, you've got no choice but to defend yourself.

The Heat are smart by keeping Shaq out today. If they win or even keep it close w/o Shaq, Detroit goes into the playoffs 2nd guessing themselves. If they get blown out, they shrug it off as w/o Shaq....

Oh just shut up already.

[Master Shake]You're like the A-bomb. Everyone's laughing and having a good time, and then BOOM! Everything's dead.[/Master Shake]

The Heat looked eager in the first quarter, but the announcer hit the nail on the head. The ball-movement stopped, and they started trying the one-on-one bullshit, and getting turnovers and lots of bad shots. Now we've tired ourselves out on defense and haven't made Detroit work hard enough guarding their own basket. We honstely should be able to win this game. But we're shooting like shit, and not making smart plays. PEACE.

Hmm...the Pistons are keeping Wade on the perimeter and also making him play some D. Not too many teams have the personnel or coaching to do this...

I don't really see the Heat beating the Pistons in a series unless they are hitting their 3s at a great clip. If the Jones boys aren't hitting 3s, they are worthless cos they aren't scoring and their D sucks...

Gimme a break. Wade kept himself on the perimeter by Kobeing the ball every possession, then trying to bail himself out with an acrobatic pass to a teammate. Without Shaq, Wade is Kobe. He has the ability to make smart passes and get everyone involved, but lately, he's been looking to post the big number rather than play the role of the facilitator like he should. It's really annoying. Today, he has 5 personal fouls. That's what's been keeping him out of this game. You might be mistaking Dooling for Wade since Dooling is a slightly slower, less-flashy clone of Wade. They have the same game, but Dooling's shot is worse. EJ has once again relegated himself to the role of being the 2nd-best Jones on the team. That's extra bad since DJ is laying a real stinker today. :( You are just the fucking kiss of death, man. Say nice things about someone else.

As for the Heat destroying the Pistons in the championship...you're nuts. With Shaq in, Wade CAN Kobe the ball all he wants and be effective. With Shaq in there, we only need one other person to step up. With Shaq in there, we are head and shoulders above the Pistons and the rest of the dregs from the East. Oh, and we got homecourt. The Pistons have no chance against us in the playoffs. Look how our bench is giving them fits today. Dooling, EJ, Anderson, Doleac, Mourning. These guys are bringing us back within range. You can't say the same for the Pistons, these are their starters. PEACE.

Without Shaq, Wade is Kobe.

Maybe when he learns to make a jumper and play on the ball defense. ..

If the Heat shoot the 3 well, they'll beat the Pistons. If not, they'll lose cos Detroit will pack it in on Shaq...

PS: How do you miss all these fts with no Shaq? o_O

Kobe hasn't played defense this entire season-- anyone not named Konex will tell you that. :p Oh, and 43% FG. What "jumper" does he have? Yeah...

Cloudy

Yeah cos fg% proves a player does or doesn't have a jumpshot. Shaq shoots, .559 and Ray Allen shoots .426. By your ridiculous logic, Shaq has a better jumper and Ray is worse than Kobe. Just shut up :lol

PS: Kobe's team defense and rotations have been the issue this year cos he's trying to do too much.... not his man D. Then again, I actually watch games....

Errr, no. So you're saying that he's shooting 43% because he's missing tons of layups and making all his J's? :lol Come on now...

From 82games.com :

Kobe Bryant:

Jumpshot 71% .428

That is, 71% of his shot attempts are jumpers, and his effective field goal % on them is 42.8% -- note that this is higher than his ACTUAL FG% on all jumpers since it takes into account 3-pointers. Still, even this slightly higher value is 42.8%. So please stop acting as if he has such a great jumpshot. Here are the #'s for some other elite players:

Ray Allen: 80% .467
TMac: 77% .438
Redd: 79% .449
Vince Carter: 70% .466
Pierce: 70% .447
Dirk: 80% .457
Arenas: 76% .444
Stojakovic: 79% .486

So...yeah. If you want to keep believing that Kobe has some sort of miraculous jumper, feel free.

PS: Kobe's team defense and rotations have been the issue this year cos he's trying to do too much.... not his man D. Then again, I actually watch games....

Kobe's been getting abused all year on defense, and it's not because he's trying to "do too much" or "plug holes"-- you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. He's given up season/career highs to his assignments several times this year (not marquee scorers, btw), and has shown zero effort on the defensive end all year; 95% of people who watch basketball will agree with me on that.

For the last time, you can't judge a player's jumpshot on stats (end of shot clock Js, double/triple teams don't show up in stats) Watch them play and you know who has a J and who doesn't. If you think Wade has a jumper, fine...

He's shown zero effort on the defensive end all year, and 95% of people who watch basketball will agree with me on that.

Bullshit. The problem is that he's just not d-ing up on role players and sagging off them in the paint to help the "bigs"....

And Kobe is the only player of those I listed who takes end of shot clock shots or gets doubled? Please...you're living in a fantasy world. You act as if no other star has ever had to deal with these things and still managed to put up decent FG% #'s. What a joke...

:lol

Shall I create a topic asking this very question at the "other" forum? :D I doubt you'd like the responses. I watch the games (about 20-25 Laker games this year), and Kobe has done zilch defensively, on his man OR in help situations. Stop making excuses for him. He's been lit up this season by role-players, stars-- hell, everyone except the vendors! :D Sorry, but he's not disruptive enough on defense (i.e., he doesn't have good enough defensive instincts to be a Pippen/Jordan/Payton type help defender causing havoc w/steals or blocks) to justify his constantly getting abused by pointing to the fact that he's supposedly "giving help". Yeah...ok. If you're "helping" and your man consequently scores 22, and your help only saved, say, 8 inside points (to be generous), you lose.

So you're saying Dwayne has a better jumpshot that Kobe? I'm pretty sure even your jumpshot fg% stats won't show that :lol

Where did I post that Kobe has a better jumpshot than any of those guys? I posted in response to Pimp's Wade = Kobe stuff

And those stats show Arenas is a better jumpshooter than Tmac. Do you honestly believe that? :lol

Did I mention Wade? No...you did. Neither Lebron nor Wade has a better J than Kobe-- all I'm saying is that you're constantly making it seem as if Kobe has an "elite-level" jumper, when it's clearly middle-of-the-road. He's shooting 43%, for crying out loud; my point was that you, as a Kobe fan, are in no position to call out other players on the basis of their shooting.

Exactly, Wade = Kobe - NBA jumper and on the ball D. Exactly what I posted from the start in response to Pimp. Save your essays :lol

I'm aware of what you posted in response to, but I was making the more general point stated above. And that is that there is no justification for a man who defends a 43% FG shooter to be calling out players for the quality of their jumpshot.

And those stats show Arenas is a better jumpshooter than Tmac. Do you honestly believe that? :lol

Better can mean a lot of things. It can, for instance, mean that one is more selective in taking shots (i.e., takes "better" shots), and thus makes more of them. Do I believe McGrady is a worse shooter than Arenas? I dunno-- TMac is certainly better from 3-point range.

EDIT: I dunno dude...Arenas has taken more 3's than TMac and made a better % (36% vs. 32%), and his eFG% is higher on jumpers overall. That suggests that he's a better-- or at least more consistent, which is essentially the same thing-- shooter.

Look, anyone (besides you) who's watched Laker games this season will tell you that Kobe simply does not convert a decent % of his jump shot attempts. In particular, he's fallen in love with the 3 since the all-star break despite his struggles. I'm honestly dumbfounded as to how you don't see this...

EDIT:

Exactly, Wade = Kobe - NBA jumper and on the ball D

Except Kobe's jumper isn't anything special and his defense has been lackluster. Wade's individual defense has actually been better than Kobe's this season; he's certainly given more effort on the defensive end, while Kobe seems to be loafing...

My overall point was along the lines of "people in glass houses..." :D

But I'll drop this convo now-- I wanna watch the Laker game. :D

What the shit? I get NY/Indy? During the Miami game it said the Lakers were coming up. Bogus. :p

The Lakers have zero inside presence and you're all concerned about getting a PG?

It would be nice if the Kings could get to 50 wins again this year.
