-Everybody who likes top-down puzzle games should get Adventures of Lolo 2. In one sense, this is a better week than some three-game weeks we've had in the past, just because it has at least one truly excellent title.
-But none of this excuses two-game weeks. They shouldn't be happening, at all. At. All. Just having Hudson and Capcom would probably be sufficient to kick out consistent two-game weeks for four months, but with as many other publishers as are on board, why is this nonsense happening? :/
SonicMegaDrive said:I've complained about this ad nauseum at this point, but WHY is Capcom slacking off so much with this service?
OK, pop quiz!
Can anybody tell me how many games Capcom has released that aren't in the Street Fighter or Ghouls 'N Ghosts series?
Answer:Two. Breath of Fire II(but not one), and Final Fight. Pathetic. With as many games as they have in their back-catalog, there isn't any good reason why Capcom isn't releasing more of their lesser-known games at this point.
Jiggy37 said:If that's really the case, and I don't doubt that it is, it could be that Capcom just figured, "Eh, screw you guys" and decided they just wouldn't be bothering with Mega Man 1-7, Mega Man X 1-3, Gargoyle's Quest 2, Demon's Crest, Mega Man Soccer, Breath of Fire 1, and everything else they own. :/
SonicMegaDrive said:I guess TMNT 2: The Arcade Game will no longer be coming to the VC, since it's ESRB rating has expired.
Too bad, because I really enjoy the NES port. It's a bit more challenging than the Arcade version, and is a bit better in some ways.
I'm assuming it was not released because sales for the first TMNT game weren't all that hot. Pity.
EphemeralDream said:If Wikipedia is to be believed, next week should see the 150th release. IIRC 100 was Zelda II but I don't remember what 150 was. S&P?
Well, they did bother with MM1 and 2 in Europe, so I couldn't really include them. But yeah, I forgot 8 was a PS1 game.Cheesemeister said:Fixed.
For the past couple of months I've been saying yes--not that I've played it, but virtually every review or even paragraph-long impression that I've read says the sequel outdoes the original in legitimately every way. But now with the reduced VC release schedule, I don't know anymore. :/ It could be months before Shining Force 2 shows up, and SF is still great on its own.schuelma said:Q- I have some Wii points to play with- I'm thinking about picking up Shining Force. Heh. Knowing what I know now about the series, I'd not sure I'd pay 200 for the original R-Type. Can't even get past level 2 of R-Type III. :lolIam Canadian said:It's the same reason I haven't bought the original R-Type. I assume this is from your own count/personal data? I was going based on this but I'd wager yours is more accurate:Cheesemeister said:What? There are 196 now. The 150th was reached on 9/17 last year with Super Thunder Blade, Yoshi's Story, and World Class Baseball.
Wikipedia said:As of January 14, 2008, there are 196 Virtual Console titles available, with the list growing weekly as per the above.

Incidentally, if it's just RPGs in general that you're in the mood for, you might want to wait until Hudson releases their upcoming VC releases for February (usually toward the beginning of the month). Dragon Slayer and Ys Book I & II are rated and totally ready to go, so maybe they'll be coming up. (Especially considering how much TG16 releases have slowed down... Used to be a consistent 3-5 per month from September and back, but there were only two each for October-December and only one in January. Something's gotta give, or so I hope.)
I haven't even played either one, so I won't vouch for them over SF, but i'm just saying--if RPGs in general were the concern, you could consider (or not) waiting and seeing if those are coming in February, and/or getting impressions on them.
EphemeralDream said:EDIT: Capcom isn't technically done with Street Fighter on VC. There's still Champ, SSFII Gen. version, and Fighting Street! I expect to see all of them rather than Mega Man :lol :lol

Iam Canadian said:The rason that the first Ninja Turtles game didn't sell that well is because it was 600 points for an absurdly hard and completely mediocre game. I'd (grudgingly) pay 600 for the sequel because the second one was that good. Heck, I'd even buy the first one for 500 points just to experience it and its frustrating difficulty. (The same reason I'd buy Battletoads if it ever came out) But 600 points? No, thank you.
It's the same reason I haven't bought the original R-Type. I bought R-Type III for 800 points, and knowing what I know now about the series, I'd pay the normal 600 for the original R-Type. But it's not worth 800 points to me.

The SNES port of SFA2 is an absolute shithouse.
Iam Canadian said:I've never played it, but wasn't it one of the only SNES games to have actual load times?
Oh my...the music. Fucking awful. It's too bad they can't find some way to get good ports of SFA into the VC library.PepsimanVsJoe said:

I liked it better.
Are you kidding me?!? The music sounds significantly worse than the original SNES game IMO. Sounds like they tried to directly convert the arcade soundtrack (which isn't a good idea from the start).SonicMegaDrive said:Me too.
I don't remember the voices in the SNES version sounding so...murky.(not that the Genesis version was any better in this regard. I do prefer the Genesis controls, though, and it seems a notch faster).
The music still sounds great, though.

EDIT: I just started playing the PC-CD Redbook of Super Turbo over the game (which I consider the best arrangement of the original SF II series' music. So much better.
Well I'm pretty sure that with SSFII and Super Turbo, all the tracks were remixed.SonicMegaDrive said:I could be wrong, but I think the tracks are remixed? They definitely sound different than the arcade version.
I thought they sounded quite good, though. I'm talking about the SNES version of SSF2, just so we're clear, and not the Genesis version.

alongside a N64 style one (do it DO IT.)SonicMegaDrive said:Yea, good point there.
Unless somebody releases a 6-button controller for the thing.

PepsimanVsJoe said:VF2 is on the VC because it took practically zero effort for Sega to release it since it's already been on other compilations.
SFA2 snes has never seen a port of any kind so seeing Capcom put actual effort into releasing this on the VC would both shock and disgust me.
Can I have a copy of your spreadsheet? If you want I can give you a Wii Gift up to 600 points for it.Cheesemeister said:I have a spreadsheet.

They're over in the corner playing with Earthbound, Terranigma, Illusion of Gaia, Soul Blazer, Lufia, Lufia 2, Kirby Super Star, Ogre Battle, Magical Pop'n, Pocky and Rocky, TMNT: Turtles in Time, Mega Man and Bass, Mega Man X 1-3, Space Megaforce, Demon's Crest, Super Mario RPG, Shadowrun, New Horizons, Super Mario Kart, Knights of the Round...evilromero said:Yes. The SNES library has a long ways to go before it even cracks into the quality line-up. Where is Pilotwings, Super Punch-Out, Uniracer, Yoshi's Island and others?

I'm just appreciating that we're getting worthy titles now (Should I start with Lolo 1 or 2?)
I'm waiting for more than 69 games. But it's okay; I already lost my sanity quite a while ago.Odrion said:You'll all go nuts if you keep waiting for a certain game to appear on the VC.
