Every replay was super slow-mo'd. He missed the ball by centimetres. It was an unlucky red.
That is what I was thinking. He was late and a red was justified simply for the damage done. That sais, it was in no way a reckless challenge or worth the ridiculous comments some have made on here.

Talk about over reaction in general as well. Utd should have had the game sewn up in the first half. We didn't. Especially sucks it had to be against City but these things happen in cup competitions. It could have gone either way even after the sending off and didn't tell any sort of story about the 2 teams outside the context of the match itself. Anyway, hyperbole away.

On a side note :

Great to see a decent atmosphere in there, at least early on.

Also that Wembley pitch yet again sucked the life out of almost all the players. I know it is supposed to be quite a big pitch but it surely can't just be that!

There was no video of the initial incident but according to twitter it was one of;
  • Comments about VDS's wife
  • Comment about Rio's wife and newborn baby
  • Spat at Anderson
  • Celebrating in front of United fans

That's a pretty big list...I don't think it's long enough.

Maybe he told Rio he should have stayed on his feet

Mourinho did joke that he was planning to play with 10 men

Clearly he was not joking, they really were practising playing with 10 men.

While this game has no impact on La Liga whatsoever, it makes the upcoming CL tie look a hell of a lot more intriguing.

I'm enjoying this game, but I'd like to ask if El Clasico is uber expected by everyone who likes football everywhere?

I like football but down here in Latin America there's a circle jerk around Barcelona and Real Madrid that blows my mind. Literally since wednesday everyone is talking about these games.

Yes, awesome game, but I can't explain how it's lived in Latin America. It's like being in Spain.
Lol, that post kinda came across as me being a footy noob, I'm not haha.

LOL Messi shots a ball to the people, to loss time: not yellow card.

LOL Alves has already a yellow card, makes a penalty kick: not second yellow card.

Even with the referee continous help, we almost managed to win.

Moral victory to us.

I know right. Alves actually managed to touch the ball.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
