its not just spain, you should see the arab country's when barca and real are playing nobody is on the street in morocco.
Everybody watches soccer and barca and real are to soccer what the yankees are to mlb and the celtics and lakers are to the nba.

I don't know I went over there and the support was mostly split between the English big four, Barca and Real.

LOL Messi shots a ball to the people, to loss time: not yellow card.

LOL Alves has already a yellow card, makes a penalty kick: not second yellow card.

Even with the referee continous help, we almost managed to win.

Moral victory to us.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Moral victories != Silverware

But I guess when you are used to eating scraps...

We almost won with 10 people, imagine what could have happened without the referee help.

Barça ending the match trying to lose time and almost in their side of the camp, lol.

Yeah, I feel like we won.

I wonder if its just you or Mourinho as well that doesn't notice that the imagime part actually is 'what could have happened if we tried to play football with 11?'.

A compelling game indeed. It had everything albeit a few poor decisions by the referee it still didn't hinder the pace and atmosphere the game had from kick off. The decision not to send Alves off for the tackle on Marcelo was quite preposterous, because if I recall correctly he was the last defender, yet Valdes' automatic bicker got the better of the ref. Overall I'm left really impressed with Madrid's performance and especially how they picked up the pace and rallied themselves up once Albiol hit the showers. I tip my hat to Team Mourinho once again.

Fucking Albiol, are you retarded? God damn, Villa owned you for those 5 seconds. Should have just started with Arbeloa.
And what the hell was Adebayor doing with that cross from Cristiano.

Pepe was Man of the Match, imo. Bald man was everywhere he needed to be.

Mesut <3.

Don't really think he intended to hit anyone. And the ball wasn't out of play, so he couldn't have gotten a yellow for time-wasting.

But i did enjoy those angry Madrid-fans shaking their canes at him afterwards.

Where, Morocco?

El Classico is big because the teams hate each other so much. I remember figo going to real madrid.

But it was. It already cleared the line.

Yes, he did and was a bad decission, but stop crying. The referee didn't help Barça

Alves should have left the field with a second yellow card.

Villa feel a bit of contact and he left himself fall....lol.

Yeah, they didn't help you at all....

Outplayed for long periods, blatant penalty not given, clear chances to put in 2 or 3 (Villa).

Anyway, feeling like you won and winning are not same thing. But as I say, one can has to take what he can, especially when you up against the mighty Barcelona.

Gutted about the Cup Semi. Obv where things went wrong for United but City were the better side and deserved to win, so congrats to them and bad luck in the final! =P

As for El Classico, watched bits and pieces. Very petty fragmented game. Madrid players were working like machines, they will be very tired men by the time the last 15 mins at Camp Nou comes around. Positives for Real from what I saw though.

You now that RM has fallen from grace, when their fans feel like they won when they get 1-1 on home turf and start the game with a ballposession of 25 %.

The football you were playing with 11 men in the first half sure as hell wasnt worthy of the club. Nobody would have accepted it just ten years ago, and that is even though you would have come out with a win in the end.

Match one is over, let's move on to match numero 2!
Will be the most telling match of all four imo since it's played in Valencia right?

Real were so negative going into this game. Should have started Ozil and why play Benzema when Ada has been on great form?

As for the ref helping Madrid/Barca, as a neutral can I just say I felt awful for the ref. The game is of great pressure as it is but the conduct of both sets of players was embarrassing. Everything goes up a notch in these games, including the diving, cheating and moaning.

Barça being very not Barça at the end.
Been like that for a good while, not top form since Nov-Dec.

If the remaining three matches is another bad Barça show against full-defense Inter it'll be soporific.

Interesting tidbit:

First penalty in Barça favor at Berbaneu in 19 years. Also ended 1-1 lol

What he said.

I agree with you on the first one, but Villa letting himself fall? What?

Strange that the Madrid-players didn't protest more, if it in fact had crossed the line.
Looked to me like Pepe accepted Messi's explanation. I'll have to see it again. And if i'm wrong, I will off course, still argue against it.

But on to the next one.

outside of bickering about who had the moral victory with referee shit, it's probably a victory for madrid, i'd say, given that the result was next to meaningless as the league was sewn up and the way the last encounter went. them avoiding continuing the run of losing to barca helps them psychologically for the important games, their tactics and organization were much better at stifling barca's passing game when it came to them turning possession into chances, they looked dangerous on the counter and barca probably lost puyol for a few weeks.

And I don't care those ideals some people like to brag about Real Madrid football, most people around here don't care.Defensive football deserves the same respect that the "tiki-taka" from Barça, hell for me one of the most impressive matches were from team like Chealsea, Inter, Italy, etc..., damn last year Inter against Barça was awesome, from a tactical, discipline, effort, phsycal strenght point of view.

Of the large possession Barca have in matches,

Mode 1 - Have 10-15 shots on goals, a large part of of the passing is probing/forwards, dominate the match.

Mode 2 - Circle jerk among the back 5 because they are not sharp enough going forward.

Mode 1 is offensive football.

Mode 2 is as defensive as Catenacchio.

Mode 1 and 2 has the same passing statistics so it might look like outclassing the opponents, but please don't paint today's match as Madrid being outclassed. Madrid had as many (or more) clear cut chances as Barca. I saw clear domination from Barca in the 2-6, the 5-0, the Ronaldinho standing ovation. This wasn't.

I would agree that the players have had a mental block against Barca in the last two years letting them play their attacking football unchallenged. This match hopefully puts them on a mentally level footing for the next three matches.

The 'mighty Barcelona' looked like lost children when they lost Puyol. They failed at every attempt to complete one on one opportunities, and the only form of a goal obtained by the 'mighty Barcelona' was a penalty. Not only did they fail to use there possession wisely, they failed to capitalise against a 10 man squad. Going on to concede a penalty themselves with only 8 minutes of play remaining on the clock, as well as collecting 5 booking 3 of which came after Albiol got sent off. Let's not talk out of our arses now. Let's look at this from an unbiased stand point and be honest, Madrid outplayed Barca and even deserved to win the game in the end.

Did you see Adebayor play today? He is in terrible form, he fucked up every play he was involved in, the only successful thing he did was stumbling over a pass from one of Real's players which somehow lead to the penalty for Real, not due to his ability though.

disappointed, Barcelona should've killed off this shitty team and make a statement before the copa final. Instead they got complacent with the lead, and being against a team with a man less.

iirc, Messi was a yellow away from being sanctioned...and the following La Liga match is right between Champions League matches.

Let's say I don't agree, he deserved one yellow for accumulation of fouls, nothing else....

And that's for tonight, Ala Madrid!! . See ya in the second one.

Gotta love the guy, he redeemed from the camp nou match, awesome.

I think Mou was probably reserving him a bit, he does a lot of km's every match and it shows that we need him at full capabilities.

I'd have to say, Madrid really surprised me today. I think they'll give Barca a run for their money in the upcoming matches. And I'm not gonna be surprised if they win.

Pepe was insane !

Palermo played like Palermo for the first time in months.

Inter got their ass handed to them by Parma!

Napoli/Udinese is gonna be so good tomorrow.

The reason that i cared about ball possesion was that i wanted to say that they were playing counterattack.

I can totally see that wou think that defensive football deserves the same respect, Chelsea, Italy and Inter is just as worthy winner when they win playing counterattack as barca is when they win playing a possesion heavy game. I was simply saying that it isnt very Real Madrid like, they just as barca used to view themselfs as being above that and the club and the fans valued playing a technique and possesion heavy game, especially on home turf.

But sure if you dont care about those ideals then i understand.

I thought a lot of the Barca players embarrassed themselves tonight. I expect the cheating, dirty shit from Alves, Villa and Busquets, but I didn't think I'd ever see Messi waving imaginary cards or kicking the ball into the stands. It was a niggly game, too many people diving and fucking around. A really bad advert for La Liga.

Wow Real and Barca really do hate each other don't they lol. That shot of Messi giving Ronaldo the evils is hilarious!

I wonder what their relationship is like, ofc it's limited but they must see alot of each other at all the events these guys end up going to.

I agree with this. Didn't Capello win La Liga, but was fired because the style of which is was won didn't go over well with the club?

I'd much rather see Real play attacking football. It's not like they don't have the players to do it.

I think all the Spanish national team players are quite friendly and I have a feeling the other are as well. It's unfortunate that if this sort of 'passion' is not shown on the pitch, the Barca/Madrid papers will start attacking them.
