Rangers/Celtic are Championship sides/lower Prem at best.

If they played in the EPL they'd be able to compete for the same players clubs like Tottenham, Everton and maybe even Arsenal gets to sign today.

What's your point?

The question is not about who'd be willing to move to Celtic if they were in the Premiership, it's about if they'd be able to compete with the teams they have now.

Who do you support? I've always liked Senderos: Not the most consistent player, but definitely a top-tier defender.

Sunderland signed Bent, finally, and Huntelaar has joined Milan. Good moves by both teams. I can see either player thriving on those teams. Bent/Jones seems like it could be an awesome striking tandem.

Everton

and am going tomorrow to watch Birmingham Vs Sporting de Gijón. for 3 quids I couldn't say no:lol

wish me
and Birmingham
luck

For you maybe. For me it was if they'd be able to compete for 5th-6th position if they were in the EPL. And they would.

Sooooooooooo, the football league starts 4realz today (Football matches on Friday - frickin' Sky Sports)

Going to see Palace vs Plymouth, should be a nice 3 points to kick off the season.

Any other GAFers going to any other football league matches today?

Meh. Palace still can't defend. 1-1 in yet another ho - hum performance.

Funny to see no football league talk, you would think all UK GAFers lived near the Premiership teams :lol :lol :lol

St. Andrew is 100 m away from where I live, so Championship talk will start when Birmingham goes back to Championship. and I don't care about west Brom.

but yeah, just came in now. watched Birmingham Vs Sporting De Goijin. 0 -0.

I fear for Birmingham :(
they can't pass for crap.

Why is the England v Netherlands match off?

I don't think it is....

Anyway, nice to see the BBC have rights to the football league this season. I couldn't stand the ITV coverage of it last season. Their commentators/analysts are nowhere near the quality at the BBC, at points I seriously had to change the channel it was so awkward. Saying that, it still isn't up to scratch with MOTD, but then again you wouldn't expect it to be.

Also, Community Shield today. Chances are it will be another bore-no-score-draw and go down to penalties, but it will be interesting to see how Chelsea shape up under Ancelotti and how Man. U fair without Ronaldo and a list of injuries.

Always very sad to see a footballer go before his time. Thoughts to his family and friends.

Turkey just slobbered their cocks all over Ukraine, 3 - 0.

England look like they can't be bothered and want to go out and get pissed.

Prior to the airing of ths US/Mexico game let me run my radical idea for the US Men's team past some real soccer/football fans.

Would it be an unstoppable strategy to get someone with the height and leaping ability of Vince Carter and just stick them in the middle of the box on a good cross or corner kick? I don't think it would be possible for most teams to defend that strategy.

What say you?

The Nats would be so much better if they could get third tier athletes. Right now they're probably 8 or 9th.

Champions League at last.I missed it so much!
Today we have:

Atlético -APOEL
Beşiktaş -Man. United
Chelsea -Porto
Juventus -Bordeaux
Maccabi Haifa -Bayern
Marseille -Milan
Wolfsburg -CSKA Moskva
Zürich -Real Madrid

I think I'll try my luck with

Juventus -Bordeaux 1
Maccabi Haifa -Bayern 2
Marseille -Milan X
Beşiktaş -Man. United 2

With 10 euros I get about 100.I'm really desperate for money at the moment :(

I'm trying to follow soccer closer. I'm looking for good rss feeds for the Spanish Primera Division, English Premiere League and the Champions League. I'd like feeds for each one, if possible. That way I don't have to sift through German and other leagues I don't care to follow. Any help is appreciated.

Oh yeah, ESPN's Soccernet feeds don't seem to give me what I want. Am I doing something wrong? PEACE.

Thanks. I actually went there first, thanks to a Google search, but I figured I'd ask in this thread to make sure. PEACE.

Just a question, what's made you want to follow Football/Soccer? I'm intrigued.

What happened to this thread?

Anyway, fucking friendlies. Will just be back in time for the WC.

Van Persie suffered the injury following a challenge from Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini earlier in the month and the club initially announced an encouraging diagnosis of a six-week recovery period due to a tear in one of his ligaments.

However, further examinations have revealed much more extensive damage and Van Persie had his ankle put in plaster on Friday. He will now undergo surgery on the problem and Arsenal anticipate that he will be unavailable until the end of March at the earliest.

where's the other thread? i searched "football" in the title and didn't find anything.

anyway, arsenal look to be title contenders. hoping wenger splurges a bit on the transfer window, could do with a tall/powerful striker, eduardo isn't playing very well at all. fabregas is 100% pure class though.
