Japan should be 2 or 3 up now. lol Every time Ushida gets the ball on the right he's causing problems with a great ball into the box. If nothing comes of them I'll be suprised.

Giovincooo! Fantastic gol for Italy. :) Can't wait to see the little wonder play with Juventus in a month or so. 164cm of pure football genius.

The streams at NBC Olympics.com are amazing. I wonder how much $$$ Microsoft paid them to use Silverlight. At least it's way better than ESPN360 right now.

:lol I am hoping NBA-GAF shows up in my Olympics thread for that game. NBA-GAF talks trash all day long against one-another so it'll be crazy to see us all working in tandem for a common goal.

seems like we might sign Felipe Ramos Sanchez, 20 year old Real Madrid keeper.

3rd keeper in place of Mannone (he did look dodgy in pre-season)?

Odd stuff regardless.

So, any comments for that an African ref just gave an American player a yellow card?

Hey IanZ, is there something bad about Silverlight? (Besides it being a new MSFT they are trying to shove down our throats?) The Italy-Honduras stream I am watching looks really good.

I am more concerned about his black-on-black crime wrt not giving Freddie Adu any calls at all. :)

hadareud: you don't get it, do you?

yeah the Italy game has extremely good quality. I've no idea why.

Fair-weather, with pride!
Mannone looked fine, certainly better than what we saw of Fabianski. Then again, after whatever game he had a while back I swore I'd never let him near a pitch again if it was up to me and I stand by that.

Dunno why we'd sign another keeper though. Unless he can play defensive mid.

Kompany sent off for Belgium. Not sure about the second yellow tbh, Diego looked like he went down a little easily, but the first yellow was a terrible decision, shouldn't have even been a foul imo. Shocking ref.

Jo and Thiago Neves on for Brazil.

Mannone looked incredibly dodgy in pre-season games. Fabianski has looked far better although still not good enough imo.

Are the USA and Japan playing at the Emirates?

I don't get it. :(

By the way, any fans of Christina Aguilera's breasts may want to head over to egotastic.com right about now.

Benny "Zachary Taylor" Failhaber has been subbed on.

Hernanes scores for Brazil. 1-0.
That was all me and Jo's intangibles.

The ref in the USA Japan game is so bad. lol

Both teams should have had a penalty now.
Yeah... at least he's consistent with his awfulness.

Another red for Belgium. Fellaini got a second yellow card for no reason whatsoever. This ref is a fucking disgrace, truly, truly terrible.

Fabianski looked very good yesterday actually. He made a couple of dodgy decisions against Juve, but you show me a 22 year old keeper that plays his first full pre season game that doesn't have a few dodgy moments. Give him more games and he'll be fine, Fabianski will be the real deal in a few years.

Mannone on the other hand looked really poor, not that that necessarely means much

Guzan really needs to stop taking a deep breathe every time he takes a goal kick. Makes him look like a bigger douche than he already is.

Like I said, Fabianski was certainly better then Mannone and only had a couple of mistakes through out preseason, just I don't see him catching Almunia for a while yet.

As for officiating in the Olympics, is this the standard to expect for the rest of the competition? :-/

My full writeup on the Yankids match is in the Olympics thread but here's the cliff's notes:

-Defense looked bad
-Trying to hold the lead in the second half was bad
-Robbie Rogers is hot shit
-The Dutch are toast on Sunday
-U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A!

Officiating was shit but that looks like it's going to be a problem for the whole tournament.
