I dunno about that. Unless Malouda or SWP comes up big.

Doubtful i know.

I heard rumors yesterday that Malouda may be heading to Roma.

If that's the case, Chelsea could really use Robinho as a SS/Wide player.

Depends if Scolari is actually going to use a 4-4-2 with all those options in midfield.

I actually feel pretty good about Malouda. His had a bad year, made worse by a terrible Euro. He should have a second chance and I like that Scolari feels that same.

Personally, i think it's kind of telling he had such a crappy Euro. He didn't show many signs he had adapted to the premiership at the end of the year, and i thought linking up with the french team might at least up his game, but that didn't happen.

Dunno how much of that is due to Domenech, but Malouda himself has to take some of the blame.

Those cheerleaders were back at UCI off the road today. Incredible!

How is that going velvet?

Been going good. The carpool lane on the 405 actually makes a difference if there aren't any accidents.

Haven't had much of a chance to check out the surroundings, but that'll come. But you were right, there's a ton of Asians there. I looked up stats and it's like 56% or some shit.

Seems like PSV is still interested in Sochaux's Mevlut Erding. He's a 21 year old striker/winger who scored 11 goals last season. Sochaux told PSV last week they didn't want to sell him, but they appear to have change their minds, and PSV's technical manager and PSV's director will attend Sochaux - Grenoble this weekend (start of Ligue 1) and hopefully open negotiations. Erding seems like a really bright talent and we can use another good striker. He'll apparently cost at least 7.5 mil €, but PSV is willing to spend good money on a player now that they're basically garanteed not to have to split TV-sponsor money with Twente in the CL. I'd like to thank Arsenal in advance for that. :lol

You just took out a high level player for 5-6 months... how much more malicious can you get?

that was barely a foul

there definitely wasn't anything malicious in that challenge. Unfortunately certain Dutch attacking players seem to be slightly prone to injury.

Sagna's point still stands.

You forgot to say Sneijder was "unlucky".

When you scissor a guy's leg it's not "barely" a foul. I don't think it was malicious (more like stupid carelessness)... was just making fun of the fact that Arsenal players are saying things like that shortly after something like that happens. That's why I put a winking emoticon. (Though I do think it was more a poor translation than what he actually said. He probably said something to the effect of "aggressive" instead of "malicious".)

Arsenal could use an enforcer. Cana looks good in that vid h0pper posted. But then again it's one thing to be a bully in Ligue 1 and another to be a bully in the Prem.

I know what you were trying to say Kara :)

I still don't think it was anything special, he didn't try to "scissor" him - it was actually really bad luck on Sneijders behalf. A bit clumsy, but I wouldn't even call it careless. Diaby did see a red card for a stupid careless challenge last year and he fully deserved it, but this wasn't the case here imo.

Let's see what happens on the transfer front, but as I said before I'm very happy with what we've got. However, if Wenger thinks a player is good enough for the Premiership more often than not he's right. In Wenger I trust.

Sagna definitely didn't say malicious, but I quite enjoy that translation.

I think Malouda was responsible for one of the most ridiculous decisions in football last year. Of course I'm talking about France during the Euro. Domenech started Ribery on the right side because Malouda was already playing on the left side and couldn't play anywhere else :lol

It's fucking Ribery and he plays out of position because Malouda is so damn good on the left side that not even France's and Germany's footballer of the year can touch him?!?

Of course he isn't. Malouda was HORRIBLE. Can't Nasri play on the right and Ribery on the left? Who needs that Malouda guy anyway? I'd rather have Eboue in my starting line-up than him.

And while we're at it, why the hell is Domenech still France's manager? How much more could you possibly screw up in his position?

"Vlad [Weiss] has made a big jump up but technically he is excellent and has great ability to take players on. That is what fans like to see and so do I.

"We will encourage him to carry on doing that but there are other elements of his game that maybe are weaknesses that he needs to work on. He has a lot of developing to do physically and in football terms but he has the potential without any shadow of doubt.

"We will not rush him but we want to expose him to senior football and we will continue to do that and then things will not be a surprise for him.

"He has the ability to make the step up but he has to listen and learn."

Malouda sucks but he's better than Eboue.

And Dom starting him only shows how bad he sucks. Dom is so stupid. I want him to die peacefully so he has to go away forever.

He didn't try to scissor him. He fucked up, tackled at Sneijder instead of the ball, realized this, tried to flip his other leg around and ended up scissoring him. It was a glorified friendly played to promote the stadium sponsors that underpay you, he fucked up, and now a guy is going to miss games that actually count. Careless is definitely the appropriate word.

No one will budge on this though so it's best to just shut the book and move on. :lol

Eboue is more flexible than Malouda. If someone like Ribery comes along you can just take Eboue and shove him somewhere where he can do no harm. You can't do that with Malouda, the only place where he can do no harm is on the bench.

Eboue is no worse than Malouda. I agree with Frenck.

Though the bench is his natural habitat too.

Do no harm? He's like a walking failure. I'm surprised he manages to remain upright for any amount of time on the pitch.

Malouda kept Kalou out of Chelsea's squad and he forced Ribery to play out of position during the Euro. Compared to that Eboue did no harm.

France wouldn't have done anything without their two best players anyways, so that one is moot. Kalou is not an argument.

Eboue cost us at least 7 trophies this year. Pretty harmful IMHO.

First of all, the fact that his other leg came in didn't do any damage at all. The injury occured when Diaby's leading leg landed on top of Sneijder's knee. It happened when Diaby went for a tackle which was clearly there to be made. He also went into the tackle in a way that isn't even looked down on. Players make that kind of tackle all the time.

It seems everyone is getting annoyed because it's a friendly, but, what do you expect to happen? Players to go into the games without any commitment at all? Not make any tackles? They probably shouldn't run either incase they pull a muscle. These games are played preseason to test players and improve there fitness. Hell it's not like Real Madrid didn't do similar stuff in the very same game. The fact of the matter is that he was UNLUCKY. Injuries do happen in sport, serious or friendly and you can't force them not to happen.

Honestly, it's the kind of tackle Vieira made pretty much every game. I've not even heard complaints about the tackle from Real Madrid. :-/

Hi all, only 9 days till the start of the EPL,, can't wait what with the threadbare squad, CEO resigning, total lack of new players thus far, stadium plans being called in for goverment enquiry...gosh, it's good being this optimistic. Ain't been this glum pre season since since rooney left.

Btw feel free to add my PSN ID: Dandare4444 and my GT: Danieldare4444 to OP.

Good luck for the new season all... 'cept the red shite :)

Diaby is out for the Amsterdam tournament and quite likely for the Twente game with a thigh injury.

Well, that answers the question about him being able to shake off his injury problems.

Need to buy I'm afraid.

I just wanted to post the Costello song. You'll find this is half of Karakand's posting, baiting people into a response that he can vaguely justify using some obscure song title to reply to.

Yeah, it's unfortunate, and it's a trend that I don't really think will reverse. As stadiums get larger and tickets get more expensive, all of a sudden you have stadiums filled with corporate types, and people who wanted something to do with their families for a day.

Hell, just about every sport in the states is "sit down and shut up unless your team scores." The only sport that hasn't really gotten to that point yet is college (american) football.
At least MLS is focused on a more vibrant atmosphere rather than the other way around.

It may have been said before but,

does anyone else think Robinho is kinda overrated?

I mean I've seen him play fantasticly but it doesn't seem to happen all that often.

I'd rather have van der vaart and he only cost madrid 11million.

Always enjoyed our games against Everton, I'm just glad Duncan Ferguson has retired. Weird that we're the only 2 teams not to have signed anyone (although we do have 3 new brazilians that were all signed in january). Thx for Rooney btw, blame Newcastle, you may well have had him another season otherwise. I think we're pretty much paid the max we could now. I believe Everton got like 3-5 million this summer from us due to the league and champions league.

The Oil Energy Crisis invades Football:

Bayern chief: I hate Chelsea, I hate Abramovich
tribalfootball.com - August 07, 2008

Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness has launched an extraordinary attack on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich - and the billions he's made from Russian oil.

"I'm irritated when I have to tank up every week," he told Spox. "Those petroleum mafias steal our money and use it to sign footballers.

"This stinks and Abramovich is part of this.

"No, he's not my friend. Those mafias rule the entire world and manipulate petrol's price.

"Our best revenge would be to beat teams such as Chelsea. It would be a huge satisfaction."

I wonder if he post on GAF.
