there's no ifs and buts, we need to sign a player within the next week.

And while Hughes confirmed that contact had been made over the full-back's services, he insisted a deal was still to be concluded.
Hughes told a press conference: "The situation is that Spurs are interested but the deal has not been done.
"If the deal does not feel right then it will not be done.
"He's not with us at the moment, but I don't want to go into details. If something happens in that respect, you'll be the first to know.
"I don't like talking about any prospective business that is being done, whether or not it is likely or not, until it is actually done.
"Once deals are concluded, if they are to be finalised, then I'll discuss them."
"I am not quite sure what all the Stephen Ireland rumour is about," Hughes told the M.E.N.
"There was a bit of confusion about Stephen before the game against Milan, but I had a word with him before the game and explained my interpretation of it. It has been sorted out and I explained my understanding of it.
"At this time of the year a lot of agents are flying around and at times some are of a view that they can start to exercise some interest in their clients.
"Anything we have said in regards of Stephen has been misinterpreted and people have run away with it.
"He is staying. Absolutely he is staying. Sunderland has been mentioned, but there has been no contact in that respect.
"I am not sure where that came from."
"We try to find the right player. My target is always to spend the right money on the right player therefore, the timing on your buy is also important as well.
"I do not know yet if it will be with the Swiss or somebody else but it is not necessarily the Swiss boy."
Hey, those things are as American as apple pie. You ask for a burrito in Mexico and they won't know what the fuck you're talking about, they'll give you a baby donkey.Cedeo said:And the only good thing to come out of Mexico are burritos ...
he'd be an excellent signing, I'd love that.Falch said:The Dutch commentator during Netherlands - USA at the olympics talked about potential interest from Arsenal for Afellay.
God I hope it's not true, we need his for atleast one more season. We've already lost Farfan and Gomes.
Rumor has it Afellay has a buy-out clause in the range of 15-18 mil. He's easily worth that.

I can't really see us signing another winger, I think we have enough as it stands.
If it happens I definitely won't complain though.
Wes said:Henry to Man Utd? Oh please be true. Do it for the lulz.
Cedeo said:No thanks, he is 31, injured all the time, and it would take a lot for me to forget him being a cunt.

I'm quite sure he'd be a winger with us, like all the attacking midfielders we buy (Pires, Rosicky, Hleb, Nasri etc.). The natural position of all of them was more that of a playmaker.Falch said:He's not a winger, he's a central attacking midfielder who can also act as a winger. At PSV he's practically always our central attacking midfielder unless we have dramatic changes in our lineup (injuries, special CL lineups).
