Really? Isn't it supposed to be one of the main selling points for SSDs that they're faster?brain_stew said:That solid state drive will probably be slow as shit. I've seen very few netbooks with an SSD worth a damn, and have had zero issues using a netbook with a 2.5" mechanical drive. Save your cash imo.
The brand and model of the SSD can be a vast difference in terms of performance and power efficiency.Monroeski said:Really? Isn't it supposed to be one of the main selling points for SSDs that they're faster?
Do it. I have a more powerful card for that resolution and sometimes it isn't enough for me.CoilShot said:I was just wondering if this would be a waste of money if I upgrade from a 4830 512MB to a 4890 1GB. The reason why I was going to was because I need that extra kick for AAx4 & AFx16. I would only be playing at 1680 by 1050 if that matters.

I find myself needing a new motherboard for my server, but I need it to have at least an 8x PCI Express slot. I'm assuming that the ones which have 16x slots (usually used for graphics cards) will work?

Thanks muchly.TheHeretic said:Yes it will. PCIE is fully backward and forward compatible, even from 1.0 to 2.0.
UraMallas said:Basically, the main thing is that I want to be able to buy a rather large monitor in the neighborhood of 24"-26" and need an upgrade to my power supply and video card, from what I've been told. I have a PCI Express spot on my motherboard. This link has some bundles on NewEgg that I'm interested in. Note that I don't need bleeding edge graphics but would like to be able to play Gears PC and Halo 2 PC. I was thinking of getting one of the bundles around $100.00 and was wondering which one of them was the best on that page because I really don't know. Here are the ones I'm looking at and if someone has a better idea or wants to try to nudge me up a tier, that's fine. Just remember that I want to be able to use a 24"-26" HD monitor and play games that came out around Gears PC and Halo 2 PC.

But my first two PCs are in a different state and my current gaming notebook I have with me right now is starting to die (HP, screen hinge cracked open) so I need something to tide me over. Is the lappy worth it for the price?
Many thanks in advance. Cheers!

Daigoro said:got a technical question. hopefully someone here will have some ideas.
i reformatted and installed Vista on one of my HDD's, the C drive. i have a seperate HDD with music, pictures, and other files on it (the "Z" drive).
how can i get vista to recognize the Z drive? all i see is the C drive where i installed vista and i want to be able to access files from Z.
i tried to set up a raid in the bios several different ways, but it refused to boot into Windows in this setup, and i had to reformat/reinstall Vista to get it to work. ive had both of these drives set up in a Raid 0 config before and it worked like a charm.
any ideas?

thanks a bunch for your help.
(ps. that Mushkin ram i got with my mobo works perfectly even before i tweaked voltages and timings. it also looks amazingly cool and goes perfect with the color scheme of the board. i lucked out! thanks for your advice back there though.)

My PSU is only 34. Would this be a huge problem?
That 500w is pretty decent so I don't think you'd have a problem, if you do I'm sure newegg will take it back so no worries.Ysiadmihi said:

Any possible cause for this 20C jump. This is kinda making me worried. Mite need to buy a nice heatsink? My Proc is overclocked to a simple 3.2 Ghz.
