The new Twentieth Century Fox high-tech action thriller I, Robot, starring Will Smith, has won a rave review by a very interested party: Robyn Asimov, the daughter of the science fiction legend, Isaac Asimov. The visionary author's book inspired the movie.
"'I, Robot' is respectful of my father's work and faithful to the spirit of his stories. I think the film's exciting presentation of a world where robots are part of everyday life will attract a new generation to his books," said Robyn Asimov.

Manders said:It's at 75% now on rottentomatoes.com. Take that, haters!!!
Thats because I, Robot was an original script which was then fitted with themes from Asimovs book as well as the 3 laws. Originally it had nothing to do with I, Robot. Im giving this the benefit of the doubt since its directed by Alex Proyas, who delivered one of the finest science fiction films of the past 15 years with Dark City.ConfusingJazz said:The first thing you have to remember about rottentomatoes is that you have to wait until the real reviews come out on Friday. The numbers are usually extremely inflated for a movie like this. Personally, I don't think themovieboy.com, filmsinreview.com, or Sean the Movie Guy are above taking bribes to pump up a movie.
Besides, last time I read I, Robot, Caves of Steel, or The Naked Sun, there was never a robot invasion of the major cities, and there were no cop-flying-through-air-letting-rip-his-uzi-while-crashing-through-a-window. Trust me, I would have noticed it.

I think that was Catwoman that was supposed to have the Batman Begins teaserRyu said:Wasn't this movie supposed to have a Batman Begins teaser attached to it? Any word on that?
Recent word has been saying I, Robot would have the teaser, although not in an exclusive attachment, or something. I don't think Warner Bros wants any connection between Catwoman and Batman Begins, let alone Batman himself. There's a reason the film has nothing to do with Selina Kyle.Mairu said:I think that was Catwoman that was supposed to have the Batman Begins teaser
Yeah, it's just like how EA are using the Goldeneye name (from the movie and the game on the N64) to sell more copies of a Bond game that has no relation to the Goldeneye story we know. It's pathetic really... some bad guy who actually has a golden eye and voila, they call the game Goldeneye. That's so cheap.maharg said:I may love action movies, but give them their own fucking name and let them stand alone. Don't use a name I respect to bring me into a movie I'm not expecting.
Cause it will. (no pun intended)MrPing1000 said:why do i think this is going to bomb?
Prospero said:The NYT has an article today about how this movie throws Asimov's ideas out the window for the sake of a license, by the way.
Kabuki Waq said:Yes cause Sporks has seen the movie already and has better taste than us all.
Is she saying that it's faithful to the books because it features a world with robots?"'I, Robot' is respectful of my father's work and faithful to the spirit of his stories. I think the film's exciting presentation of a world where robots are part of everyday life will attract a new generation to his books," said Robyn Asimov.
Cliches make zombie-Asimov cry. This was not Asimov's approach. In 1956 Asimov explained that before beginning his robot stories he had tired of the typical robot plot about "the creature that turned against its creator, the robot that became a threat to humanity."
Did you know there are over 600 critics on TV and Leonard Maltin is the best looking of them all?Lil' Dice said:I remember when it was all about Siskel&Ebert(sp?) and Leonard Maltin.....

MIMIC said:I really don't understand "book to movie" criticisms. The only way a movie can ruin a book series is if the movie is a sequel to the last released book. Otherwise, it's just an interpretation.
