8 world leaders, gathered in Scotland for the G8 summit, will be presented with a workable plan to double aid, drop the debt and make the trade laws fair. If these 8 men agree, then we will become the generation that made poverty history.

Idiots.

Also, the only good performer scheduled is Bocelli -- but why isn't he performing in Rome?

The G8 Summit is like Groundhog Day...everyone always hopes the fuckers won't run back in their hole, but of course they always do.

This post is just about where you'll be able to see some of this in the US, Canada and the UK.

In the US, MTV and VH1 will begin their simultaneous live coverage at 12 noon EDT/9 a.m. PDT. ABC will do a two-hour wrapup at 8 p.m. (EDT/PDT) with chunks of all 10 shows.

In Canada, CTV will be airing from 7 a.m. to 12 midnight EDT, switching to the Canadian show at 11 a.m. Shortly after 8 p.m. they'll begin a four-hour, prime-time greatest hits package (8 p.m. - 12 midnight ET), which will hopefully include Pink Floyd's full set (probably the highlight of the day for a lot of people).

And in the UK, the BBC is the host broadcaster for LIVE 8 London with coverage across BBC ONE, TWO and THREE, with radio broadcasts on Radio's 1 and 2, the BBC World Service and across the BBC's regional stations.

And in case you aren't able to grab a TV (or you just wanna see the shows you want when you want), here's the direct link to AOL's site. I think you'll need a broadband connection in order to view the streams, though I suppose that goes without saying.

BTW, could I ask a mod to sticky this thread? It'd be much appreciated.

:lol :lol :lol I'm sure she's a decent artist, but let's be real...the must-see act of this event is Pink Floyd. Everybody else is a distant second.

Bjork is far, far better than Pink Floyd. Perhaps you should listen to her before casting her off as merely "decent." Just an idea!

I didn't noticed Roxy Music were playing. Add them to the list, of course. And Pet Shop Boys. And Cerrone/Nile Rodgers.

Wait, wait, wait. CTV is not showing the London show? I am a die hard Canuck, but there is NOTHING bigger than that london show. Screw the Hip.

Edit: Screw the fucking recap. I want it LIVE!!!!

Your loss. You're not worthy of her genius anyway.

Perhaps you should witness a Pink Floyd concert before you say they are not big. Just an idea!

Ah.. so hearing their shitty records isn't enough, I have to see them play a 15 minute set in a crappy televised 'charity' event to form a proper opinion? Shucks. And I didn't say they weren't "big," they're obviously the main draw here.

:lol You're the idiot who said Bjork's the only worthwhile artist performing tomorrow.

Take this to the bank...the most anticipated and watched artist tomorrow BY FAR will be Pink Floyd. That's just the way it is. And I'm not even a Floyd fan...well, not yet anyway.

This is an ideal internet forum post. Just strip things down to the basics.

Shinobi, how angry are you that Rush isn't performing tomorrow?

Well DUH. I never denied that, you dolt.

Yeah, but you said Bjork's the only artist of note tomorrow, and that makes you a far bigger dolt than I. So there.

Fifty said:

:lol I'm not angry at all...for starters I saw a tribute band play Rush's 2112 album and some of their other songs last night, and they were so good I reckon that performance will eclipse everything I see tomorrow. And secondly, a Rush set tomorrow just wouldn't be feasible anyway...it'd take at least half an hour to build up and strip down Neil Peart's drum kit. :lol

01 June 2005 - The BBC maybe televising the Live 8 next month, but AOL has stepped in to offer a live webcast of the concerts in London, Philadelphia, Paris, Rome and Berlin on 2 July for free.

The Internet service provider, who is the exclusive LIVE 8 online partner, will hope to bring together a worldwide audience for the only complete broadcast of all of the LIVE 8 concerts, for free, live and on demand. AOL has also said that the concerts will be available online for six weeks after the event in case you can’t get to a computer on the day.

AOL will also host special blogs from each city where concerts take place, along with a news and information service leading up to the event.

Hmm interesting. Does anyone know what format AOL uses for videos? And if this is AOL(service) exclusive?

Whatever. I mean, you like fucking Rush. Who cares what you think.

I wonder if PF are feeling any pressure. Imagine being the most anticipated act in the biggest concert of all time and not having performed live together for ages.

Would let Tony Parker sleep with his wife
Umm are the streams free for non-AOL users?

I know XM is having a different channel for each location(which you can stream for free online), but I rather watch it.

I'm just wondering if Roger and the guys have gotten into any new alteracations over the last three weeks. :lol But yeah, I imagine they'll be feeling some pressure...hopefully they'll come through.

On the subject of Floyd, Nick Mason is planning to release paperback and audio versions of his recently released Pink Floyd book "Inside Out" with addendums for the Live 8 reunion in October. Hit this link for more details.

http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/news/0506141.html

As jobber mentioned, XM Radio will be broadcasting Live 8, dedicating five channels to five different concerts, plus a global channel.

http://www.xmradio.com/live8/index.jsp

BTW, the AOL streams are free for non-AOL suscribers.

And rumour wise, there's been a constant rumour going around that the Rolling Stones were going to drop in as the surprise closer at the Barrie show, due to them being good friends with promoter Michael Cohl. Plus they usually rehearse here in Toronto (just a bit south of Barrie) for their upcoming tours. I think it's more of a pipe dream then anything else, but it'd be nice to see...they were pretty popular during that massive concert they headlined in 2003, though most anyone will tell you that AC/DC blew their doors off in that show.

The stream isn't really live (probably 1-3 minutes delayed) but it's at least something.
The stream from Berlin is up and running, London, Paris and Philadelphia will be available on the site as well. Don't know where to see the other concerts, though.
aol.com and aol.co.uk haven't linked to their streams yet (at least I can't find them).

Anyone see the Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant sketch on the BBC?

That shit was too funny!

He just practically implied that all the celebrities were doing it for their careers, spent the rest of the time promoting his new show, giving its debut date, time, channel and even when it was coming out on DVD "at £17.99 which is good value". :lol

He then sealed the deal by finishing the sketch with a rant signing 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

Merchant just stood there helpless.

:lol

Gervais is God.

Gervais wrote/starred in The Office (the UK version, not the US remake). Rik Mayall/Ade Edmondson did The Young Ones and Bottom...two very funny shows!

I've always loved that show. Even when I was too young to watch it, I'd stay up or sneak downstairs to record it. Then I'd set my alarm to go off early so I could sneak downstairs and get the tape before my parents found it :lol

How stupid is this? It's a British show, made by the BBC...but the UK doesn't have series 3 on DVD :lol We got series 1 a few years ago but I imported the American boxset (series 1-3). Years later, and series 3 STILL hasn't come out on DVD over here :lol I've also got their live shows on DVD. They are hilarious! So much funnier than the TV version
