And yeah, my drafts in hindsight weren't good...except the selections of Kelly and Twan. I drafted Clay Matthews and Will Johnson after the first season (MLB and ROLB both rated 80 now) who have decent coverage and pursuit/tackle stats, but they are so insanely slow that it doesn't mean anything so they're terrible. When the game selected Javon Jackson for me in that draft as well that really fucked me over because he's an LT who has had no improvement because I've stuck him at RT since I have Jake Long. That was an extremely valuable pick in the first round that could have been used on another important player. I've drafted mostly defense but the guys who could have been a part of my core rotation are not because they are slow as fuck and not playing anymore. Blah
It has been a rough rookie year. If I come back for Madden 11 I will have a year of valuable experience under my belt!

EA has Whitner listed as a FS, but he plays both and is rated higher at SS, so I play him at SS. Whitner's ratings have been going down every single season even though he's a solid contributor. I played Sidbury out of position (LE instead or RE), and he went down after a 10 sack season.
Small sample size, it's just my observation, others should chime in as well.

I disagree with you guys, LJ and Pheeniks.
I had Kenny Phillips (FS) at SS all season last year and he went up to an 89 this offseason.
Further, I play Will Beatty, a natural LT, at RT, and he has gone from 76 to 86 from year 2 when he started.
However, I played Clint Sintim (OLB) at DE and he lost points overall to things like SPD, PMV, FMV, BSH, etc. I also had several OTs play TE for me in certain situations and I don't think they budged statwise, I'll double check when I get home.
I think that it's a case of, again, zero rhyme or reason to the progression system.
I hope EA is not stupid enough to nerf guys for this as it happens a lot in the NFL. Dave Diehl played Guard for most of his career and is a pretty decent Tackle for us now IRL. But.... Robert Gallery is a natural T and had to play inside for a few years with the Raiders and he sucks. Thomas Davis is another good example.
