Official Madden '10 Xbox 360 Online Franchise: A World Without Favre

Golden Tate was a 75 in the Madden demo at E3, I forget what Housh was (but he was slow as fuck in game). Branch and Butler were 67 and 69 I think.

I think Hasslebeck was down to like a 78 or so, his accuracy was dogshit compared to last year. Julius Jones was a 77 and the starter at RB, Leon Washington was an 80 and #2 on the depth chart. Okung was an 82, the rest of Seattle's O-Line fell between 77 and 84 I think, maybe a little lower than 84.

On defense I think it was Clemons 75, Cole 70 something (low 70s), Mebane 82, LoJack 79. Starting LBers were all in the 80s with LeRoy Hill being the lowest. I forget the corners, I think Earl Thomas was maybe an 80? Might've been 78. Lawyer Milloy was the starting SS and he was low 70s, Kam Chancellor was like a 67.

Should give you a rough idea of where other guys fall if you look at those dudes ratings from last year to this year etc.

I forgot to post the rest of my impressions and I have some videos I'm going to upload soon, but suffice it to say this: aside from the adjustments to running everything else felt like it had been only tweaked mildly. It's obvious that the main focuses this year were 3v3 coop and Coverflow. Obviously I'm not top tier at this game or anything and the sample size is small but don't expect drastic differences in anything but running.

i surprised to see Giants Steve Smith not up there yet. 107 Catches, 1200 + yards and 7 TD's. Very comparable to what Reggie Wayne did
He's slow, small, and EA historically has shat on the Giants ratings wise, they just had a brain fart last year.

Also, Hines Ward, Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Anquan Boldin, CAR Steve Smith - they all put up better numbers. Shit, no they didn't.

Well NYG Steve Smith's benefited from a strong running game opening up the defense for him. Fuck, the Giants run O was 17th in the league.

Well, he had proven receivers on the other side drawing double teams. Second year guy Mario Manningham and rook Hakeem Nicks... no that's not it either.

How about he had an amazing QB throwing to him...? Nope, Eli's not considered top ten.

I dunno, but there is definitely a reason why the guy with the second most receptions last year, 8th most yards, and 7th most receptions for first downs is rated worse than guys that are on the decline. 20th most in TDs maybe. Or only 11.4 YPC.

Maybe it's because he hasn't done it for multiple years? You know like Miles Austin and DeSe... fuck!

All I really need. Schaub will progress in the 90s during the franchise, and Steve Slaton will be a beast under my command. Only reason Owen Daniels isn't on the top TE list is because he blew out his knee but he will get plenty of use.

Feels good man.

Man, the ratings guy has a raging erection for Jets' centers. Mawae was consistently rated 99 ever year and now they have Mangold at 97. I know he's very good, but 5 points better than anyone in the league?

Let's be honest, EA clearly rates players like NBA fans vote for the All-Star Game. Tracy McGrady and Shaq should start!

Still, I'm a bit surprised to see them still have Steve Smith rated so low. Besides the fact that he's a Pro Bowl wide receiver and obviously deserves to be rated higher, even EA had him up to 90 or 91 in the updated rankings so I figured that would transfer over.

You already know, as a Giants fan, that EA loves shitting on us. I just don't get O'Hara being rated so highly when he *stunk* last season, meanwhile one of the two bright spots on the team gets shafted.

Dawkins at 90 is :lol-worthy.

Hedgecock - 86
O'Hara - 91
Snee - 96

Dives all day.

Only other bright spot is Tuck @ 92.

I can't wait until I have a team of 25 or so 80+ OVR guys again. The whining will be delicious.

Edit: The other bright spot was TT.

Yeah, it's kind of shocking to actually see them overrate someone. I don't know how to handle it, I'm not used to it.

Love, love, loved the time I spent with Madden at E3. Graphically I still much prefer the 360 to the PS3 and the same goes for NCAA 11, but on the 360 it’s a beautiful football game. Yes, the new features are noticeable—the run game felt extremely satisfying due to the new locomotion stuff. Shooting through an open hole has never felt so good in a Madden game. Suction blocking was almost non-existent.

Line play, game speed, passing – it all felt great. Madden finally made me a believer last year and this looks to improve upon that great reboot of the series. Franchise mode tweaks are few, but I truly thought it played wonderfully. For me, with football games, the little things made me smile. Here’s an example: Todd and I were playing Seahawks and 49ers – on Pro difficulty no less, and Alex Smith flat out missed three open receivers on consecutive throws. All three just missed their mark – harmlessly hitting the turf and not swatted down or dropped. He wasn’t hit as he threw – he just made bad throws. I loved that. It looked incredibly believable.

I dunno, maybe because he's not that good? Beating up on Greg Blache's shitty defensive schemes twice last season may have made him look like an All-Pro but he's not.

The Bob Sanders rating is a bit trusting. Freeney/Mathis is nice. Clark seems good, Wayne a little high - interested in seeing where Garcon, Collie and Gonz fall (80, 77, 75 is my guess). No clue about Addai/Brown.

Interested in seeing where Gary Brackett and Clint Session net out at LB and overall how EA rates the Colts defensive team speed - they are fast.

:lol Giants fans complaining about no respek again. Anyway, a lot of these ratings are grandfathered in. Tom Brady shouldn't be #3 and Bob Sanders shouldn't be a top safety. It sucks, but that's the way it works.

Does anyone else think that we're moving back to the ol' "everyone is above 80" ratings? It also seems like the speed is up a little too.

S. Janikowski - 90
Finally, some recognition. :)

T. Branch - 86
Did not expect this. :D

S. Lechlar - 98
It's "Lechler." >:|

Howard not having good speed sucks. He should have at least 85 speed. :|

And why the fuck is Heath Miller in over Zach Miller? Booh.

Where are you seeing speed ratings? Are there more detailed breakdowns somewhere?

He mostly killed Dallas:

10/134/1 TD
6/110

Dallas D was 9th in Yards/game and 2nd in Pts/game.

It will be a sad farewell when I lose Megatron. I welcome 75 rated Steve Smith back with open arms (if he is even rated that highly). Second most catches in the league, he'll probably have 65 CTH rating.

It was inevitable.

George Wilson gets no love. Won't complain because he's a one year wonder, but he ranked near the top in a bunch of advanced stat categories.

Really interested in seeing their secondary ratings for the Bills, #3 in the league, won't be reflected in the ratings department however.

Those aren't the real launch rosters. Some of the positions are correct, but RB and TE are not. And I asked for opinion because I felt like it was going in that direction. I didn't make a definitive statement, ass.

Anyway, to be a top 10 TE you had to be 87 (or 86 according to your list) last year and now it's 89. How the hell is Miller a 90? Is he just mega overrated or are the ratings up across the board? Same for Romo... how the fuck is he a 90? To be a top 10 QB you only had to be 87 and now you have to be 89 with Romo being a 90. There are now 4 95+ RBs vs 2 in 10. WRs remain largely unchanged because they were overrated in the first place. ;b

Here are the actual ratings:
http://espn.go.com/espn/thelife/videogames/news/story?id=4207111

And no, I don't buy that the entire league went up a couple of points in terms of talent. :p

I think they had to up certain players while keeping the "stars" ratings up, so you have players moving up while certain untouchable players like Brady and Miller keep their places. And let's not forget the overrated rookies this year... Eventually, we may start going in that old direction again albeit at a slow pace.

[edit] They're not doing the roster reveals this year? :|

Wellington, I see it this way:

S. Smith 87-88
H. Nicks 83-84
M. Manningham 81-82 (I hope his AWR is lesser, because he has the speed, agility, and elusiveness)
R. Barden 73-74
D. Hagan 68-69

S. Moss - off the team

Judging by these numbers for all positions, it's really crummy they seem to be going back to having so many guys above 80. Smith very well proved he's a gamer, just as much as those others that are rated so highly. I see no reason Reggie Wayne, for example, should be a 96. He isn't that much better than Steve Smith (CAR) or Calvin, for example.

All I care about on that list (since the rest were a given) is Ratliff at 94 :D Vernon will probably be higher than Witten in season 2 so don't get your panties in a bunch (if you can teach Alexis Smith some English lessons).

that's going to be a problem :(

i was complete garbage until english came into my life! i can only hope i can get english back in madden '11 (somehow!) or that defense is better next season (i have the best lb and a 90 DT!) otherwise i'm going to get destroyed. people who haven't used english don't realize how good he is. his stats might be a couple points below manning or whoever is at the top, but his release is so quick and his accuracy is so good. couple that with 2 90's wr's, a fast te, and 2 good RB's and its almost not fair!

but that's all going away in madden 11!

His low awareness (which is completely meaningless) is the only thing that keeps his overall down and hides the fact that he's clearly a 99 quarterback. He's so significantly better a QB than even Aaron Rodgers that it is absurd.

It's going to be a rude awakening when you get reacquainted with Mr. Smith next year.

Well ya never know, maybe Alex will be half way decent in 11 after the first season depending on how you do, that or tank your first season to draft some random named QB again :D

edit: I wonder what RW11 and his drop the ball all the time self will be rated in 11. With Dez, Austin, Witten and Felix I'm not too worried about it though.

Camera 2

Shitty phone camera/left on MMS quality of Punt Return heard round the world. 2nd one I whoops it up in sideways fashion. Taken with a phone camera, because EA's replays only half that. I might upload their video in a little bit, it'll be better quality.

After somehow overcoming pissed offness at how things turned out in the 1st half (combo of SACKS, PENALTIES, DROPS, INJURIES), I was down 21-7, with Bird getting the ball first. I get an INT, and so begins my comeback. I manage over time to get 2 TD's while holding him to 0 points, to tie it up 21-21. Just for him to score a kick return for a TD right afterwards, to go up 28-21. I go down the field again, and with a Barclay drop in the end zone, I settle for a FG. 28-24. Somewhere around 4 minutes left.

I manage to force another punt, and he kicks it deep. Then Bellows breaks like 3 tackles, jukes the only person in front of him that could tackle him (forcing him into some blockers), and boom, 81 yard PR for a TD to go up 31-28.

A wild 3+ minutes followed, but no scoring. He managed to drive to about FG range, but on a 3rd and short, I manage to force a fumble, and thanks to EA's FUMBLEMINIGAMEOFASS, come up with the ball when I shouldn't have. I accomplish diddly poo except take time off the board, punt it back to him, and eventually force another INT. Kneel on the ball and game is over.

To make up for crappiness of the video's, here's a picture of my kitten sticking her tongue out.
