Wow, thanks for that write up LJ. You really seem to have this stuff down. I'm slowly learning the ins and outs of the AH but it gets super frustrating for me because every 5-10 minutes I get disconnected from EA's servers. I really have to figure that out.
Rob, I started with a straight flipping method, the one described in my original post on Thursday night. I think that's the most fun. Last year I used a combo of that method and investing, by investing I would dump 300k into a single player and then watch him rise as he was pulled out of packs. I did that with a kicker that had 99 Kick Power in October, he was an end game kicker with that kind of power. A few weeks later he was going for 40k. I made bank but to be honest it took me time to unload that card, and it wasn't as fun.
The anomaly with last night was something pointed out to me last Spring when another promo went up, the Easter Promotion. I didn't think people were that stupid, but when the AH is that flooded, people get lazy and just buy whatever they see on the AH and don't filter through completely. It's easy money but it can be a bit risky, because with so much stuff going through the AH the time for your item to be shown decreases. Last night the buy it nows were up for for like 10 minutes tops, so your card was only going to be seen for 10 minutes. If someone else put up 20 of the same collectible that was a few thousand less than yours, then you have to repost and wait 50 minutes to see where the market was headed.
